Love Story7–Chapter 1
Love Story7–Chapter 1
The next day, my daughter’s private photos were leaked everywhere, and she was overwhelmed with despair. She went up to the roof, ready to end it
all
I was frantic and called Pardes Miller.
He answered, his voice impatient.
“She’s not dead, is she? Why make a big fuss over nothing? How do you think this looks to my bosses? I’m up for a promotion–I can’t afford to make any mistakes right now.”
he end, Pardes Miller, with his image of being easygoing and magnanimous, managed to push out a colleague and take the position of manager.
But then, unexpectedly, a colleague–who had been harboring resentment–left him severely injured, reducing him to a disability level of two.
Lying in the hospital bed, he yelled for me to call the police and put the guy behind bars.
I smiled faintly and brought in reporters and police officers. In front of them, I wrote a letter of forgiveness.
“A little friction between colleagues is normal Pardes Miller is the most understanding person there is. We don’t want any compensation.”
After a week away on a business trip, I came back to find my daughter, Loopy, had been beaten by Pardes Miller’s colleague’s son again.
Her lips were bruised, and her body was covered in large, dark bruises, some already turning purple.
Tears instantly filled my eyes as I helplessly watched her try to wipe them away. Her sleeves slipped down, revealing her arms, which were covered‘ with a horrifying array of small puncture wounds.
Cherned to Pardes Miller, who was sitting there like it had nothing to do with him, and yelled, “What’s going on? Why aren’t you taking her to the hospital?s
Pardes spoke in an offhand tone, as if the injury wasn’t to his own flesh and blood.
“It’s just a few stabs with a compass. It’ll heal on its own–there’s no need to waste money on a hospital.”
I was livid. “If that compass was rusty, she could get tetanus!*
Why call the police? Kids roughhouse sometimes. It’s totally normal for them to get hurt at school. It’s no big deal. Besides, the kid who hurt Loopy is the son of my colleague. If you call the cops, how are we supposed to work together?”
I was stunned by his words. How could a father say something like that?
“Is this really the kind of injury kids get when they’re just playing? Why don’t you go play and see if you can get the same kind of wound?”
Pardes Miller didn’t understand why I was so angry.
“You’re being ridiculous! The other kid’s injury wasn’t even as bad as this, but you’re acting like it’s the end of the world. Can’t you just be a little more understanding? I’ve taught Loopy to be magnanimous, but you don’t seem to listen.”
“A little scrape is nothing compared to what Loopy’s gone through! Look at these wounds! How could you be so indifferent about this? How can you be so understanding?”
“She’s fine, isn’t she? You’re just making a scene like some kind of shrew!” Pardes Miller was getting frustrated and, without thinking, shoved Loopy.
“What the hell are you doing?” I quickly caught her as she stumbled, tears filling my eyes.
Her face was twisted with pain as she collapsed into my arms.
“Mom, my back hurts so much…”
“What are you pretending for? Can’t you just understand a little? You want us to fight, don’t you?”
Pardes Miller, continued his harsh words, but I couldn’t care less. I immediately pulled up her shirt.

Love Story7–Chapter 1
When I saw the large bloodstains on her back, my composure finally shattered.
“Pardes Miller, if something happens to her, I swear I won’t let you off the hook!”
I scooped Loopy into my arms, trying to soothe her as I rushed out the door. “Don’t worry, Loopy. Mommy’s taking you to the hospital right now.”
