Chapter 30
“She’ll be okay,” I said, more to reassure myself than him. “Caroline is strong”
Lorillidn’t respond, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. The silence between us was heavy, filled with unspoken fears.
As we sped towards the hospital, our Beta, Panther contacted Lorik. I could hear the urgency in his voice through the car’s speakers.
“We’ve got some Information.” Panther said. “It looks like Lorcia visited Caroline earlier today, just before she collapsed.”
Lorik’s grip tightened on the steering wheel, his eyes narrowing in anger. “It had to be her,” he growled. “She must have told my mother that she’s going to be the new Luna. She knows Caroline’s heart isn’t strong.
I reached out, touching Lorik’s arm. “Calm down. We need to focus on Caroline right now. Where is
Lorcia?”
“She went back to her tribe after the visit,” Panther replied. “We’re increasing security around the hospital to make sure she doesn’t come near Caroline again.”
“Good,” I said, relieved that steps were being taken to protect her. “Make sure she doesn’t get anywhere near the hospital. Lorik relaxed a little at my comforting presence, and he showed a look of vulnerability that the mighty him had never shown before.
And, he thanked me for being by his side at this time, stating that he wouldn’t have been able to keep his composure without me being there for him.
Panther assured us that the necessary precautions were being taken, and I felt a small sense of relief. But the tension in the car was still thick as we finally pulled into the hospital parking lot.
When we reached Caroline’s room, I was shocked to see how pale and frail she looked. She was unconscious, her breathing shallow. I felt a deep sadness, seeing her like this, so vulnerable.
I sat by her bedside, gently holding her hand. Caroline had always been kind to me, treating me like a daughter. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.
Lorik stood beside me, his face twisted with worry. He looked so lost, so desperate to help his
mother.
After I Let Go My Alpha. He knelt in Regret
After a while, he pulled me aside, his expression troubled
hirley,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. Please, can we wait? Just until my mother recovers? I’m afraid if we go through with the divorce now, it will make her condition worse.”
I looked into his eyes, seeing the pain there, and my resolve softened. I couldn’t bring myself to add to his burden, not when Caroline was lying in that bed, fighting for her life.
I hesitated for a long time before finally agreeing to his suggestion
I said, ‘We can keep the news of the intended divorce from the outside world for now, but you need to deal with your father and Lorcia.”
He nodded, relief washing over his features. “Thank you,” he whispered, pulling me into a brief, but tight embrace.
We returned to Caroline’s room just as she began to stir. Slowly, her eyes fluttered open, and she looked around, confused at first. Then her gaze settled on us, and she managed a weak smile.
“Lorik, Shirley… I heard some rumors,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “Are you really_?
Lorik and I exchanged a quick glance before we both shook our heads. “No, Mother,” Lorik said gently. “It’s not true. We’re not getting divorced.”
Caroline sighed in relief, her eyes closing again. “Good… I was so worried…
After a moment, she drifted back to sleep, and Lorik and I stepped out of the room to give her some
peace.
Lorik turned to me, his expression more serious now. “We need to put a stop to these rumors,” he said. “It’s the only way to keep her calm. Will you come back to the Silvermoon Pack with me?”
I hesitated, thinking of everything that had happened. But for Caroline’s sake, I knew I couldn’t refuse. “I’ll go pack my things,” I said, finally agreeing.
I called Ethan to let him know what was happening. He wasn’t happy about it, but he understood the situation. “Do what you need to do,” he said, his voice reluctant. “But remember, you’re always welcome here.”
When I returned to the villa, I was shocked at what I found. Ethan had packed everything for me. The amount of stuff was overwhelming.
Rooms filled with clothes, jewelry, and all sorts of personal items. It looked like an entire house was being moved.
After 1 Let Go My Alpha. He Knal
han hadn’t stopped there. He had arranged for a brand new, limited edition luxury car to be delivered, insisting that only something like that was suitable for me,
Lorik’s subordinate, who had accompanied me, was visibly stunned by the sight of it all.
He clearly couldn’t reconcile this with the idea of the Luna who had supposedly been thrown out of
Silvermoon.
“Are they yours? He asked hesitantly
I could sense his shock but I just smiled back.
Before I left, Ethan pulled me into a hug. “Go and show them who you really are,” he said, his voice
all of encouragement. “T’ll always be here for you.”
His words gave me strength. As I got into the car, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. I was ready to face whatever came next, no matter how difficult it might be.
