Chapter 45

The moment Lorik stepped into view, the air seemed to change. His presence was commanding, exuding an aura that made everyone around him instinctively shrink back

This is a school,he said, his voice deadly calm. If you dare lay a hand on her, I’ll ensure you’re suspended, or better yet, expelled.”

The man hesitated, his anger wavering under Lorik’s intense gaze. Lorik’s authority was undeniable, and everyone knew it

Let go of me,Sorcia’s boyfriend growled, though the fire in his eyes had dimmed

Lorik kept a firm grip on his arm, ready to prevent him from suddenly attacking me

Sorcia’s boyfriend, who had been ready to unleash his wrath, faltered. His mouth quivered as if

trying to form words, but nothing came out

I couldn’t hide my surprise as I turned to look at Lorik. It was unexpectedhim coming to my aid like this. He had been so distant lately, and yet here he was, stepping in when I needed it most

Just as the tension began to dissipate, a shrill voice cut through the silence. Brotherinlaw!Sorcia’s voice was tinged with desperation as she said, tears streaming down her face. Shirley’s been bullying me!”

The crowd buzzed with whispers, and I could hear the murmurs spreading. Everyone knew about Lorcia’s upcoming marriage to the Alpha of Silvermoon, and by extension, Sorcia’s connection to

Lorik

Lorik’s gaze was icy as he turned to Sorcia. Don’t call me like that. I already have a Luna.”

His words hung in the air, and the crowd gasped. The shock was palpable. Lorik had never openly acknowledged having a Luna before

One of the girls with glasses, who had been standing nervously at the edge of the crowd, suddenly found her courage. It wasn’t Shirley’s fault, she blurted out. Sorcia pushed her first!”

Leave,Lorik ordered, his grip tightening for a brief moment before he released the man’s wrist. Now.”

Sorcia’s boyfriend backed off, shooting me one last glare before he turned and stalked away, pulling, Sorcia along with him. The crowd slowly dispersed, whispering about what had just happened

As the tension in the air began to dissipate, I finally allowed myself to breathe. Lorik’s eyes met

nine, and for a moment, I saw something flicker in his gazesomething protective, and perhaps a bit possessive

Are you alright? He asked, his voice softer now, but still carrying that undertone of authority

I nodded, too overwhelmed to speak

Good,he said, his eyes lingering on mine for a moment longer before he turned, leaving me standing there, still processing everything that had just happened

And as I watched his back, I realized that the peaceful, uneventful life I had wanted was now out of reach

Lorik’s expression didn’t change as he turned his head to me. Come with me.”

My classmates exchanged uneasy glances, clearly expecting the worst. I could see the pity in their eyes as they assumed I was about to be reprimandedmaybe even punishedby Lorik. But there was no anger in his voice, just a cold command that I couldn’t refuse

I followed him through the hallways of the school, trying to keep my heart from racing. Lorik led me to his officea spacious, elegantly furnished room that felt far removed from the chaotic world outside. The large windows let in streams of sunlight, and the heavy wooden furniture gave the room an air of authority

Lorik gestured for me to sit on the plush sofa, and I complied, still unsure of what to expect. My mind was spinning with thoughts of how this might play out. Would he scold me? Blame me for causing a scene

But instead, Lorik’s gaze softened as he looked at the bruise forming on my arm. Without a word, he crossed the room and retrieved a small firstaid kit from his desk. My breath caught in my throat as he knelt in front of me and began to gently apply a cooling ointment to the bruise

The warmth of his touch, so unexpected and tender, sent a jolt through me. I watched him closely noting how his usually cold demeanor had softened into something almostcaring. We were so close, too close. I could feel my breath quickening, and I was sure he could hear the rapid beating of my heart

You don’t need to be nervous,Lorik said, his voice steady as he continued to tend to my injury. I’ve been on the battlefield since I was young. I know how to deal with wounds.”

His words were meant to reassure me, but they only made my emotions more tangled. Why was he being so gentle with me now, after all this time

Why are you at this school?I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. I thought you were only a director. You rarely teach classes.”

Lorik’s hands paused for a moment, and when he looked up at me, his eyes were deep and unreadable. Because of you,he said quietly. You’re my Luna, and I want to watch over you.”

My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly pulled my arm away, the bandage still unfinished. The intensity of his gaze was too muchI couldn’t handle it. Without another word, I fled the room, my footsteps echoing in the empty hallways

As I hurried away, Lena’s voice echoed in my head. She said, You’re thinking back to the first time you met Lorik, aren’t you?‘

sighed, Yes. I always think, if it wasn’t for that day, maybe I wouldn’t have fallen in love with Lorik, much less married him.‘

However, Lena reminded me, You are MATES for each other, destined to meet each other.‘

Her words hit me hard, and memories of the first time I met Lorik flooded back, unbidden. I was just a firstyear student then, nervous and uncertain about my place in the academy

Lorik was already a legenda finalyear student chosen as the outstanding graduation

representative. He was the epitome of everything I admired, and every girl in the school was smitten

with him

The graduation ceremony was grand, with students dressed in their finest attire. Each of us wore a bouquet of flowers pinned to our chests, a symbol of the occasion’s significance. But I had been clumsy that day, and Lorcia, ever the troublemaker, had taken advantage of my distraction to knock my corsage to the ground

I remember my heart sinking as I watched it fall because I knew I wouldn’t be able to retrieve it without drawing unwanted attention to it

However, Lorik noticed the fallen flower as he came down from the stage after his speech

My heart sank, Lorik was notoriously cold in school, I’d heard his reputation early on, a cold blooded

battle crazed maniac who didn’t want to die, and perhaps he was about to step on my corsage and

leave as if nothing had happened

I nervously watched his movements
