Seeing Lorik, Lorcia’s eyes lit up, a bright smile spreading across her face. “Honey, what are you doing here?” she called out, her voice dripping with false sweetness. She let go of the little girl she had been halfheartedly entertaining and completely ignored me, her focus solely on Lorik. Without hesitation, she ran towards him, her arms outstretched as if she wanted nothing more than to fall into his embrace.
But just as she was about to reach him, Lorik stepped aside and subtly motioned for Panther, his BETA, to intervene. Panther, ever the silent and observant guardian, moved quickly, positioning himself between Lorcia and Lorik. Lorcía, caught off guard, collided with Panther instead of the
nbrace she was anticipating. Her eyes widened in shock, and for a brief moment, she stood frozen, processing what had just happened.
Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and then, in a flash of anger, she reached out to slap Panther. But Panther, true to his nature, reacted swiftly, catching her wrist before her hand could connect with his face. He held her wrist firmly but without malice, his expression calm and unreadable.
Panther was a wolf of few words, just as his name suggested–quiet, stealthy, and always watching. His loyalty to Lorik was unwavering, and while he rarely spoke, his presence alone was enough to keep most adversaries at bay. Lorcia glared at him, her voice dripping with venom. “Let go of me!” she demanded, trying to yank her hand free. Panther remained still, his gaze shifting to Lorik for instruction. Only when Lorik gave a slight nod did Panther release her wrist.
Lorik’s voice was cold and devoid of any affection as he addressed Lorcia. “Don’t call me ‘darling,‘ Lorcia. We’re done.” His tone was impatient, as if he couldn’t be bothered to deal with her antics an longer. “It was my wife who came to make a donation today. I didn’t come to see you specifically
As he spoke, the warmth he had shown me just moments ago vanished, replaced by the icy demeanor of the Alpha that everyone feared. There was no tenderness in his eyes, only the stern, unyielding authority that he was known for.
Lorcia, however, wasn’t one to back down easily. A smug smile crept onto her lips as she responded, “Lorik, stop acting. I know you’re just playing Luna and Alpha.” Her words were laced with insinuation, clearly intended to provoke him.

The world around us seemed to blur as his lips claimed mine. For a moment, I hesitated, but then I intertwined my fingers with his, holding on tightly as the cameras continued to click away. When he finally pulled back, his eyes locked onto mine, and the gentleness in his gaze was unmistakable. The love and devotion he showed me were genuine, and it was clear for all to see.
Lorcia stood frozen, her face a mask of jealousy and disbelief. This was the man who had once been ers, or so she thought. But three years ago, she had made a critical error in judgment, and in doing so, had lost him to me. Now, seeing us together, so obviously in love, it was more than she could bear.
Her fists clenched at her sides, and for a brief moment, I thought she might try to separate us. But she hesitated, knowing that the professional photographer she had hired was filming the entire event, and that the Dean and the children were watching closely. The scandal from the piano competition had already done significant damage to her reputation and that of her pack. If she lost control now, it would only make things worse.
Forcing a strained smile, Lorcia finally said, “Then… it was my misunderstanding.” Her voice was tight, barely masking the bitterness that simmered beneath the surface.
Lorik didn’t bother with further pleasantries. He turned to me and said, “Let’s take care of the
donation and get out of here.”
Nodding, I instructed the people who had accompanied us to bring the toys and clothes from the car. As they distributed the items to the children, their joy was palpable. They gathered around me, their eyes wide with excitement as they received their gifts.
On the other side of the room, the children who had been with Lorcia were less fortunate. They were still putting on a show, singing and dancing for her, all while showering her with praise that she barely acknowledged.
Once everything was settled, I excused myself to the bathroom. As I approached, I heard a familiar voice echoing through the space. It was Lorcia, and she was on the phone.
