Chapter 121

Marcus had to leave early,” he said, his voice carrying a slightly malicious undertone

Why?I asked, curiosity piqued

Lorek smirked, leaning in close. Let’s just say, there was a minor inconvenience.”

I raised an eyebrow at him. Did you have something to do with that?I asked, only halfjoking

Instead of answering directly, Lorek extended his hand towards me, bowing slightly in an

(aggerated gesture. Beautiful young lady, would you do me the honor of accompanying me for

dance?”

I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at my lips. I took his hand, and in a swift motion, Lorek pulled me close, wrapping his arm around my waist as we moved to the music

We twirled around the dance floor, the lights casting a golden glow over us. My dress flowed in sync with each step, and for a moment, it felt like we were the only two people in the room. Lorek’s intense gaze never left mine, and despite everything, I found comfort in his presence

As the music reached its final note, Lorek dipped me gracefully, his hand supporting my back, our

faces inches apart. His breath tickled my ear as he whispered, If I wasn’t here tonight, would you

have danced with him?”

I stepped into the cool night air, the weight of the ball still lingering in the air like a perfume that was- hard to shake off. Lorik’s intense gaze followed me as I moved toward the car. The tension from our

carlier conversation still crackled between us, unspoken words weighing heavily on both of us

His jealousy had been palpable all evening. It was the way he watched me, how he demanded answers with his eyes, like he needed to understand everything I was doing, every move I made And though I had smiled, my hand on his shoulder as I whispered Maybeinto his ear, his body stiffening under my touch had told me more than his words ever could

I had pushed away slightly, just enough to let the air between us cool. But as I lifted my skirt and saluted him in a mocking gesture, his eyes had hardened, and he leaned in close, murmuring in that deep, possessive voice of his: I’ll help you make your choice so you know I’m the best man for you.”

And now, as I drove back to my villa, I could feel the weight of that promise. It was a challengea declaration that Lorik wasn’t going to let anyone else in. Not Marcus. Not anyone. But little did I know, events were already unfolding in the shadows, events that would change everything

Lorik’s POV

I watched Shirley leave the ball, her elegance untouchable, yet somehow just out of reach. I had to

know. I needed to understand herwhat she felt for me. But before I could follow her, Marcus

stepped out of the shadows, a cigarette dangling from his lips

He looked at me, his sharp eyes scanning me with a smugness that made my blood boil. He was wearing a tailored suit today, something more polished than his usual black. Too polished. I narrowed my eyes

I remember you usually stick to black suits,I said with a faint edge to my voice. What’s with the

ange? Dressing up to impress Shirley?”

Marcus tugged at his collar, a small smirk curling at the edge of his mouth. What I wear is my business, Lorik. I don’t need your permission.”

I suppressed my rising anger, my jaw tightening. You might have freedom in your wardrobe, but coming here to try and seduce my Luna? That’s crossing a line.”

Marcusface darkened, his voice dripping with frustration. You’re too possessive. She doesn’t

belong to you, Lorik. Not anymore.”

I stepped closer, our footsteps echoing as we reached the lift. He pressed the button, and when the

doors slid open, I pressed the switch, keeping the doors from closing

In just a few moments, I discreetly set things in motion that disrupted Marcusevening, forcing him to leave the ball prematurely

Using my connections, I arranged for a sudden inspection at one of his key business locations

sparking concerns of legal violations that demanded his immediate attention

The authorities had been tipped off about potential tax discrepancies and improper permits, creating enough chaos to pull him away from Shirley and deal with the urgent matter. It wasn’t

direct confrontation, but enough to remind him that I had control over more than just our personal rivalry

Don’t get any ideas, Marcus,I warned, my voice low and cold. Tonight was just a warning.”

Marcus raised an eyebrow, barely containing his anger. You threatened me?”

I gave him a hard look. Not a threat. I don’t make threats. I make promises. Next time, you’ll have a real problem on your hands.”

He sneered, the tension between us thickening. You’ve got a real temper, Lorik. Does Shirley know about that side of you? The overbearing, angry side?”
