We spoke softly, our conversation simple, like any other couple talking about their unborn child. It was peaceful, almost too normal. But then, at the end of our conversation, Lorik’s voice dropped

“I don’t know who that actress is,” he said, his tone serious. “I’ve never even spoken to her.”
I smiled faintly, not wanting to dwell on it. “She didn’t do me any harm,” I replied, my voice light. “You don’t have to explain.”
The rain continued outside, the soft patter of water against the windows filling the silence. But I
could sense Lorik’s mood shifting. My words had unsettled him. I had meant them to be reassuring,
but to him, they held another meaning–that I didn’t care.
He took a deep breath and leaned in closer. “Shirley,” he whispered, his voice filled with longing, “I want a little girl. I want to come home from work, open the door, and have her run to me, hugging
my legs and calling me Daddy.”
I didn’t say anything for a moment, letting the silence settle between us. The weight of his words hung in the air. After a while, Lorik broke the stillness, his voice soft and filled with concern.
“If you go to Karnatta,” he began cautiously, “will I be able to visit you often in the future?”
I nodded, smiling gently. “Of course, Lorik. You are the father of the child. I would never keep you
away.”
A flicker of something passed over his face, determination perhaps. He looked like he had made up his mind. “I won’t give up, Sherry,” he said firmly. “I will allow you to leave my side for a while, but I will definitely get you and the child back. We will live together as a family.”
I just smiled again, my heart calm despite the intensity of his declaration. I didn’t share the same same certainty he had, but I didn’t need to argue. My palm rested flat on my swollen belly, and right then, the baby moved gently inside me, as if in response to the conversation. A wave of warmth spread through me, a tender connection between mother and child.
The next morning, as I prepared to go downstairs, Lorik was by my side, hovering like a protective shadow. His hand gripped mine firmly, and he guided me down each step like I was walking on fragile glass. I couldn’t help but chuckle softly at his exaggerated caution.
“Lorik, you don’t have to worry so much,” I teased, “I can walk on my own without toppling over.”

He didn’t laugh. Instead, he glanced at me seriously, his brows furrowed with concern. “It’s better to be careful. I won’t let anything happen to you or the baby.”
I sighed, knowing I wouldn’t win this one. When we reached the dining room, I stopped in my tracks, eyes wide as I took in the scene. A massive feast covered the table, with every type of food imaginable laid out in perfect order. The aroma of fresh bread, hearty stews, and vibrant fruits
filled the air.
“What’s all this?” I asked, astonished. “Who’s coming over for dinner?”
OMEGA, standing nearby, spoke up. “The Alpha ordered it. He thought the meals you’ve been having were too simple and insisted on preparing something more nutritious.”
orik, standing proudly beside me, looked pleased with himself. “You’re pregnant, Sherry. You need proper nutrition,” he said, sounding like he was stating the obvious.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “This is way too much, Lorik. I can’t possibly eat all of this!”
Without waiting for a reply, he scooped up a spoonful of porridge and brought it to my lips. “Eat,” he commanded softly, as if I had no choice in the matter.
Rolling my eyes playfully, I took the bite, savoring the warm, comforting taste. I silently ate while Lorik watched, satisfied that I was being taken care of. After breakfast, I felt heavy with food and exhaustion. “I think I’ll lie down for a bit,” I murmured.
Lorik helped me to the couch, and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I drifted into a peaceful nap. When I woke up later, Lorik was gone. The house felt a bit too quiet without his presence.
I made my way downstairs again and found Panther, Lorik’s loyal beta, organizing papers on the table. His face was focused, but when he saw me, he hesitated for a moment.
“These are some documents that only you know the location of,” he explained as I handed him the last few sorted papers. But his expression grew more serious as he added, “The war is almost over, and there’s no longer any reason for you to stay away from Alpha Lorik.”
I paused, sensing he had more to say.
“Luna,” he began carefully, “I can see that you and the Alpha have feelings for each other. There’s really no need to stay distant. Especially now that you’re about to have a child.”
I didn’t respond right away. Panther’s words weighed heavily on me. Lorik’s feelings were clear, but
my own were more complicated.
