CHAPTER 032
AVA’S POV
The following morning seemed as if I had awakened in another realm. My mind was still swirling from the events of last night’s chaos, but today marked a fresh start.
Jason didn’t come back home, he had been busy handling the mess from last night.
But one thing joyous about last night was that I was recognized for my designs and Laura was caught up in her lies
The moment I stepped into the office, I felt the tension in the air. Whispers floated along the hallways like mist, and it seemed as if everyone was conversing quietly while a few stared at me.
I inhaled deeply, wishing to soothe my anxiety as I approached my desk. The typical buzz of the office was overshadowed by the rumors.
The event last night was a disaster, no matter how much Alex and Jason had tried to keep things under wraps.
They’d managed to keep everything quiet from the public, but the staff had their own ideas about what had happened.
Rumors spread faster than wildfire.
“Did you hear about Laura?” a colleague whispered as I passed. “She destroyed Ava’s design for Grey’s jewelry launch last night. Can you believe it?”
I couldn’t help but overhear, I could hardly focus as I made my way to my desk.
Then, my eyes landed on the notice pinned to the bulletin board.
NOTICE
Effective immediately: Laura has been fired from her role as Design Director. She will no longer be part of the
company.
The shock hit me hard. Jason had actually done it. He had followed through and punished Laura. I hadn’t expected it to be so final. I was stunned.
I never imagined Jason would make such a bold decision, but there it was, in black and white. Laura, his ex, the one who’d tried to ruin everything I worked for, was out of the company.
The words on the notice kept repeating in my head and an inexplicable joy rose within me
Finally, my nemesis was out of the company!
I couldn’t stand there any longer. I had to speak with Jason
A small smile tugged at my lips as I walked toward his office.
As I approached, I hesitated for a moment before knocking on the door.
Jason’s voice called from inside. “Come in.
ப
I stepped inside, and the tension in the room hit me immediately.
Laura’s head snapped up when she saw me, her expression full of bitterness. She wiped her tears hastily, but I could see the struggle to keep her composure.
“Jason,” she said, her voice trembling “Please… don’t do this. I deserve this position. I’ve done so much for this

company. You can’t just throw me away like this.”
I couldn’t understand her. After everything she’d done, after all the lies and manipulation, she still felt entitled to something she didn’t deserve.
Jason didn’t flinch. His voice was firm but calm. “You made a choice, Laura. You sabotaged Ava’s work, and you lied to everyone. Your actions have consequences. You left me no choice but to fire you.”
Her hands clenched into fists, and she took a step closer to him. “Just give me another chance, please.”
Jason’s gaze
didn’t waver. “The time for chances has passed, Laura. You’ve shown your true colors. And now, you will have to pay for what you’ve done.”
I stood quietly in the comer, unsure of what to say. The weight of the situation pressed down on me, but Jason’s words gave me a sense of relief.
He was standing up for what was right. He was making sure that everything, every lie, every betrayal had
consequences.
“Just so you know, Ava would be taking over your position as design director effective immediately.”
The words hit like a punch, I blinked in surprise, my heart racing. The shock of hearing it out loud made my chest tighten, but a strange sense of pride swelled inside me.
Finally I was getting what I deserved!
Laura’s face drained of color. For a moment, she looked as she might collapse, her lips trembling
“What?!” she spat, her voice laced with disbelief, “You can“…”
But Jason cut her off, “You had your chance. Now it’s Ava’s time.”
Laura looked between the two of us, ber face flushed with anger. “You can’t do this. I’ve worked harder than anyone here. You have no idea what my parents and I have sacrificed for this company!”
Worked harder than anyone here? What a joke.
Jason’s voice cut through her outburst like a knife. “You’ve sacrificed nothing but the integrity of this company. Now, get out of my office, Laura.”
I sensed her anger emanating from her as she burst out of the office. The door banged shut behind her, her strides reverberating in the corridor and the room instantly seemed more vacant and silent.
I faced Jason, my heart filled with appreciation.
“Thank you,
“I whispered, my voice trembling, “I understand it was challenging.‘
Jason looked at me, his expression softening. “I couldn’t let her get away with it, Ava. You deserved better than that. And you deserve to have your work recognized.”
He hesitated, his gaze fixing on me. “I want you to be award… I take pride in you.”
I sensed my chest constrict, feelings surging within me. His statements, the heaviness of all that had occurred, felt nearly overwhelming to comprehend.
“I can’t imagine my life without you,” Imurmured, inching nearer to him..
Jason grinned, embracing me in his arms. “You won’t need to,” he said softly.
I inhaled his cologne, experiencing a calmness that had eluded me for such a long time. Ultimately, it seemed as though we were at last progressing, side by side.

And I could now fully trust him again..
His hands softly cradled my face, his gaze probing into mine. Gently, he moved closer and kissed me, a tender, Lasting kiss that conveyed all we had experienced together
As we eventually separated, Jason spoke in a low, teasing tone. “So, Ava,” he remarked, a sparkle of playfulness in his eyes. “Has your period finished yet?”
I blinked, my cheeks turning red. “Pardon me?”
He smiled, his hand moving to my waist as he drew me neater. “What do you think about having a baby? Right here in my office.”
My heart missed a beat. It was abrupt, and I wasn’t certain if he meant it, but the comfort of his hug, along with his gaze on me, made me understand he truly was serious.
