I hummed out a reply, inching even closer to him. Ignoring every other person in the function and pretending they didn’t exist came easier than I expected it to be.
“You on the other hand, could work on not bringing up said arguments.” His hands wrapped around my waist like it was something natural and easy.
“Where’s the fun in that?” I smirked.
“And somehow you’re the innocent one.” There was a glint of amusement in his eyes.
His hands slowly traced an outline on my waist, pulling me even closer to him. My eyes flicked to Julia who was oddly watching us with an attentive look in her eyes.
The jealousy was written all over her face as she watched us. It was hard not to imagine how pissed she was just looking at us.
There was also something else. It looked like disappointment, and…regret. Keith who had silently been watching us together obviously couldn’t take it anymore.
He marched down to us with Julia still by his side. His eyes flicked over Quentin for a moment before he
turned to me.
“You should be thanking Julia.” He huffed.
I raised an eyebrow. “For?”
“If she hadn’t rejected Quentin back then, all this wouldn’t even exist. You wouldn’t have the chance you do now to be with Quentin.”
The pieces of the puzzle were slowly clicking in my head. Keith slowly twirled Julia around and complimented her features.
“I mean, just look at this woman.” He grinned. “It’s not every day you get to see such a beauty.”
“Oh my goodness.”
The crowd was also egging her own, throwing compliments left and right. It seemed like every other person in the room found it hard to look away from her.

Chapter 126
A couple of men turned to Quentin, a look of pity in their eyes. To them, he had fumbled a woman like Julia and had suffered the ultimate loss.
When a woman whispered that she wondered if Quentin had been forced to be with me, my final string of patience snapped.
“That’s enough.” I said to Keith in a calm tone.
He turned to me, a look of irritation in his eyes. “What is it?”
I fixed my attention on Julia, making a point of ignoring him. “Which Miss Werewolf contest did you win?”
“What?” she asked.
“I said, which miss werewolf contest did win?”

Keith cut in. “She won the 265th contest.”
I turned to Julia who looked all too confident where she stood. Too bad I was about to give her the shock
of her life.
“What a coincidence.” I smiled. “I was one of the judges that day.”
Julia had a look of surprise on her face the longer she stared at me. To say she was stunned would be the biggest understatement of the century.
I smiled at her, the confidence I didn’t know I even had slowly blooming in me. I liked the fact that they seemed stunned, unable to believe I was capable of this kind of thing.
If they thought this was all, then they were in for another big shocker.
Quentin seemed unable to take his eyes off me. His eyes shone with something along the lines of pride as he stared at me.
“I believe Thea has said everything that needs to be said. Need I say more?” Quentin said, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
The man in front of us seemed surprised and a bit dumbfounded. I doubted he had the words to say and even if he did, it would be difficult to eventually get them out.
The crowd that had formed around us were all staring, some of them whispering and pointing at Julia. Her cheeks were tinged with red, indicating her discomfort at being in such a situation.

“What can I say?” Quentin smiled. “It’s not everyday you get to have such a beauty by your side as I do.”
A couple of men chuckled at his words, holding their wines to him in a show of agreement.
Julia and her partner did not look the slightest bit pleased by what was happening.
“Well why all the waiting?” I said out loud. “We have a party to enjoy.”
I sent Julia a small wink before grabbing Quentin’s hand and leading him to the food table. His smile never once wavered as we stopped before the table.
“I didn’t know you had it in you.” He grabbed a glass of tequila and handed it to me.
“What can I say?” I smiled, taking the drink from him. “I’m a woman of many surprises.”
“That much is obvious.” Quentin grinned, grabbing a glass for himself.
Throughout the party, Quentin kept to my side. Occasionally some business representatives would come towards us and I’d make sure to comport myself in the appropriate manner.
It was pretty obvious that I was doing a much better job than Julia. She remained in a corner, sticking close to her date who looked pretty sour as he watched us enjoy ourselves.
