Chapter 3
Joanne’s gaze shifted to Charlie, who wore looking at her with gentia myse
She sighed with a hint of regret. Tr’s a pity though, gering a raring sex in hard feet and comm
People who hadn’t been exposed to it were fascinated
“Wow, Joanne, you’re amazing! We don’t have any girls around her bosted with caring”
Yeah, Charlie, you’ve got a good eye to find such a beautiful and cool girl.:
Charlie instinctively turned his gaze to me, but I just lowered my head and tipped my tex witorni safinga wet.
Joanne, following his gaze, suddenly asked, “Isla, do you know anything about racing
Her question made everyone laugh.
“Her? How could she know such an exciting sport? Miss Davis barely leaves her house, she’d probably fear of the

“You can’t say that! Who says Isla doesn’t get out? I see her running to Charlie’s house often. Tsk, who says serving people isn’t a skill?”
Joanne widened her eyes in surprise, covering her mouth.
“Ah? Is that so? I asked too abruptly. Actually, it’s fine, everyone has their own value.
She then turned to Charlie, acting coquettishly. “Charlie, I don’t serve people. When we get married, you have to find a maid for your parents who’s as capable as Isla.”
“Hahaha-”
Laughter erupted around us.
I clenched my fist, then released it. Once I got my things, I wouldn’t stay a second longer.
Joanne pulled a ticket from her bag and passed it to the person beside her to give it to me.
“Isla, this is a ticket for next month’s race. I have an extra one. I’ll be racing with Charlie, so if you’re free, come and
watch the excitement.”
I looked at the ticket and smiled.
Isn’t this the race I signed up for recently?
I couldn’t be bothered to argue with them, finishing my tea in one go and then asking Charlie, “Ask your driver where the items are.”

Charlie made a call and suddenly furrowed his brows. “Isla, it looks like I can’t give you your things for now.”
I stood up in a rush, confused.
Charlie rubbed his temples but didn’t lie. “I’m sure I packed everything into the box, but now it’s gone missing”
Gone missing?
That was the only thing my mother left me. I would search high and low to get it back.
Joanne paid no attention to my conversation with Charlie. She had already stood up to grab the red wine bottle
from the middle of the table.
As she bent over, something around her neck caught my eye.
It was my jade pendant!
“Wait!”
I hurriedly called out to her, pointing at her neck. The jade pendant you’re wearing is mine.”
Everyone went silent, their eyes fixed on us.
Joanne turned to look at Charlie, unfazed. “Charlie, Isla says this is hers, but how can she prove it?”
Charlie was speechless.
He had never really cared for me, so he probably hadn’t paid attention to the token.
But I remembered.
“The pattern on it is of two dragons playing with a pearl, hollowed and carved, with the bodies intertwining. One side has a small yellow spot, which is a minor flaw.”
This pendant had never left me until I was twenty. Every detail was deeply etched in my memory.
Joanne held the pendant up and examined it from all angles, then turned back to Charlie and smiled.
“Charlie, even if it’s Isla’s, I like it now. Do you think I can keep it?”
“You can’t. You need to return it to me immediately.”
In this matter, I wouldn’t make any compromises.
Charlie stood up and patted Joanne’s shoulder in comfort, then frowned at me.
“Forget it. Don’t make a fuss. It’s just a jade pendant. Tell me your price, and I’ll wire the money to you.”
What kind of nonsense is he saying?
I was on the verge of tears, shouting. That’s the only thing my mother left me, it’s a keepsake, do you understand?”

The room fell even quieter, eerily still
“A keepsake? Why didn’t you say so earlier! I don’t want such an unlucky thing!”
Joanne suddenly yanked the pendant off her neck and slammed it on the table, as though it were trash
“Smash-
With one forceful impact, the pendant cracked in half.
In that instant, the collapse within me hit like a tsunami, swallowing all my remaining rationality.
I couldn’t hold back anymore. I rushed over, grabbed Joanne by the hair, and slammed her head onto the table.
With my other hand, I shattered the wine glass, pointing its sharp edge toward her panicked face.
“Ah! You’re crazy!”
Joanne screamed, and chaos erupted in the room.
Charlie immediately grabbed my wrist to stop me from doing anything further. My hand was cut by the broken glass, blood dripping down my fingers, some of it staining his hand.
“Isla, can you calm down? The pendant is already ruined, and you’re bleeding!”
I suppressed the urge to kill her, shaking him off and trembling as I picked up the broken pendant, trying to piece it together, but it would never be whole again.
Tears streamed down my face.
I never cried when I was broken off, nor when others insulted me. But this time, I couldn’t hold it in.
