Matrius is chuckling in the back of my head, because every time someone looks at Mateja their eyes widen and she has been here for three hours already.
I can understand why it keeps shocking them. Anyone who has never met Giselle in person would assume that Mateja is Giselle.
“Mateja, when was the last time that you cut your hair?” I ask, because I would like to know how much they look alike with her hair down.
She doesn’t answer me but just starts to take pins out of her hair, after that she starts taking a few elastic bands from her hair and moments later a handful of braids hang down her back. She starts to take the braids out and I can now safely say that with her hair down Mateja doesn’t look like Giselle.
“Mom never trimmed more than the dead ends, as it grew longer I had to learn how to braid it and pull it up to keep it from becoming a burden. I have gotten used to it now, but maybe I should cut it.” Mateja says.
“Don’t.” I tell her and she gives me a funny look. “At least not yet, because it makes it easier for us to tell you apart from Giselle.”
“Nice safe, Human.” Matrius says in my head.
I growl at him in my head, I don’t need him to remind me of where my mind had gone as she was pulling the braids out of her hair.
Mateja might look like Giselle, but she will never shift into a white Lycan. Pedro and Zeke are still going on about Mateja being a Mountain Lion through our mind–link and for some reason it is necessary to pull all of us into the link.
“Is their conversation interesting?” Mateja asks as she sits down on the chair next to me.
“Pedro and Zeke are wondering at what age a Mountain Lion shifts, how training would be with you as their opponent and other questions like that.” I answer her.
I get a death glare from Pedro and Zeke, they don’t like that I sold them out.
“I thought that a Mountain Lion has a light brown fur.” Clover says.
“Most of us have light brown fur, but sometimes we have gray fur and mine light gray, almost silver as you could see.” Mateja says. “We usually shift at the age of sixteen, but as an exception to the rule I shifted at fifteen.”
The tone of her voice tells all of us that being the exception to the rule was not a good thing, at least not for Mateja and something tells me that she was reminded of it very regularly.
“My Mother never talked much about my Father, but for as long as I can remember she would tell me that she hoped I wouldn’t be like him. She didn’t get what she had hoped for and my first shift cost her a chosen Mate, Lucas‘ Father” Mateja doesn’t sound bitter or angry, it is as if she is stating facts.
“I gave up caring about my Mother’s taunts a long time ago, I didn’t give up on my Mother until a few hours ago.” Mateja sounds as if she is talking about someone else, but her eyes show that is does affect her.

My life as an Alpha’s Son wasn’t a bed of roses, but at least I knew that my parents loved me and they loved me until the day they died. My parents were there when I needed them, even when it meant that they had to hand over the Pack to another family member.
Mateja has braided her hair again and with a ribbon at the end, she has pulled it up enough so it doesn’t touch the floor.
“Mateja, can you tell us where this mansion is that Lucas wants to use?” Pedro asks and she gets up to walk to the map of the Kingdom.
She points to a property that isn’t far from the Palace, and I know that that property wasn’t for sale; the owner didn’t even want to sell to King Damon. Yet he sold it to Lucas without notifying King Damon about it, they had an agreement in place, just in case the property would come available.
Not many people know that King Damon wanted that property or why he wanted to own the property. It would become his residence after he steps down as King and hands over the Throne to Casimir.
I had functioned as a go–between for King Damon and the owner of Crescentwood Residence, so I knew about their dealings and their final agreement. I need to inform King Damon of this new piece of information and he is not going to like it.
“Why would Lucas buy a piece of property that close to the Palace?” Pedro asks.
It is a valid question and I try to ask myself the question from a different angle. Why would I need to buy a place so close to the Palace if I was in Lucas‘ shoes?
No one can get onto the property without detection and the main house is surrounded by trees, making it a very private location. It would be impossible to see what is going on inside or near the main house and no one would be able to get pictures as proof of any misconduct.
“He needs it to hide someone and I doubt that it is Giselle. He needs her to be out in the open so everyone can see them together otherwise, he can’t take over the Throne. I believe he would have used it for Jack if he had succeeded in taking over the Throne.” I say.
It is the most logical thing to do; he needs Giselle to fool the Kingdom, but he will never give up his fated Mate for Giselle.
“Do you know if anyone is guarding that property at the moment?” I ask Mateja.
“Not to my knowledge, Marcel disappears every other day to check on the prisoners. He should be returning to Shadewoods Mansion, and he usually returns near dawn.” Mateja answers.
I don’t have to give any orders; everyone starts packing when Mateja is finished speaking.
