Chapter 15 From Now on, We No Longer Owe Each Other
After leaving Grace’s residence, Antonio felt a void in his heart, a sense of loss like never before. It was as if the little girl who always smiled and revolved around him in his memories was gradually fading away, completely disappearing from his world.
He walked on unfamiliar streets, but the surrounding noise. seemed to be cut off. His mind was in chaos, filled with Grace’s indifferent expression when she closed the door.
Just at that moment, the phone suddenly rang. He lowered his head and saw that it was an unknown number. Instinctively, he wanted to hang up, but there was an indescribable intuition in his heart that made him press the answer button.
The voice coming from the receiver made him freeze for a moment – it was Grace.
His heart tightened suddenly, and the hand holding the phone unconsciously tightened. He thought this was a turning point, a lifeline she was throwing to him, but the next second, Grace’s calm and almost cold words extinguished all his expectations like a bucket of ice water.
“Antonio, I didn’t love you anymore.”
A simple sentence, but it felt like a heavy blow to h chest, leaving him almost breathless.
“Thank you for the warmth you have given me during the

most difficult time of my life, but it does not outweigh the harm you have caused me. Let’s consider the incident with the USB drive as settled between us.”
“I called to tell you that running away from the marriage was not a momentary impulse of revenge, but my choice. I chose to let go of you, to let go of everything we had in the past. From now on, we owe each other nothing, and we will each be fine, never to see each other again.”
When the phone hung up, Antonio’s hand remained frozen in mid–air, the phone pressed against his ear, but he could no longer hear her voice.
Grace loved him unconditionally for ten years, even burning all her passion for him. But when she discovered those truths she turned around and left decisively.
She did not entangle, did not resent, and in the end, she coul even bid farewell calmly and end things gracefully. It was as i she had never been hurt, as if she had never loved.
But what about Antonio? What should he do? That was a twenty–year relationship, after all!
He took out the lighter from his pants pocket, his hand trembling slightly as he tried to light a cigarette. One strike, two strikes, but the fire just wouldn’t catch. He felt extremely frustrated and almost threw the lighter away.
Just in the moment of letting go, he abruptly stopped. This lighter was given to him by Grace. On the lighter, their name were engraved. He remembered how he had mocked her immaturity and unnecessary gestures back then. But now, this “immaturity” was the only warmth in his heart.

He picked up the lighter and carefully wiped off the scratches on it, feeling indescribably troubled and pained in his heart.
He never thought that one day Grace would leave him. In those years, she was always so obedient and understanding, always revolving around him, never caring or complaining. He had long been accustomed to her presence, accustomed to her selfless dedication.
But now, she has left.
That cold home, that silent room, those little night lights that no one would ever light again… Thinking about these, his chest felt as if it had been torn apart, the pain unbearable.
He looked at the lighter in his hand, his voice low but with an undeniable determination.
“Grace, I don’t believe you can just easily let go of this relationship. Ten years ago, I could make you fall in love with me; ten years later, I am certain I can win you back.”
He stood in the middle of the street, his gaze unwavering.
“I will prove to you that my love for you was sincere. By then, no one will be able to separate us.”
