Hearing him call me “wife” again, I couldn’t help but feel disgusted.
I turned around, giving him a look of revulsion.
“Don’t call me wife. I’m not your wife.”
Upon hearing this, Kyle’s eyes filled with tears, and his voice trembled as he said in grievance.
“Imela, don’t treat me like this. I haven’t signed the divorce agreement. We’re not divorced yet.
You’re still my legal wife.”
“I know you’re just angry. After all these years, how could you just forget everything?”
“Imela, come back with me. As long as you’re not angry, you can punish me however you want. Just don’t leave me. I beg you…”
I was thoroughly disgusted, feeling like all the joy from winning the case had been ruined.
I shook off his hand. “Kyle, are you done yet?”
“Do you really think we can go back? Do you want me to post those scandalous photos of you online, so everyone can see how the famous Lawyer Smith is actually a scumbag who cheated during his marriage? Will that satisfy you?”
“By the way, you’ve reminded me, I’ll be suing for divorce.”

“Kyle, doesn’t it sound ridiculous?”
“We have no future together, so stop bothering me. Just get lost.”
Just thinking about the things they did to me, and how they had me drugged and took advantage of me by my bed, made me sick to my stomach.
Kyle was so stunned by my words that he couldn’t speak. He could only mumble apologies.
I didn’t even spare him a glance. I turned to leave.
But he grabbed my arm tightly.
“Imela, don’t leave, I’m begging you…”
“I’ve completely cut ties with Linda. I’ve fired her. I really know I was wrong.”
I clicked my tongue, about to turn around and yell at him.
But Oliver was quicker. He stepped forward and grabbed Kyle’s hand, stepping between us.
Oliver’s figure was imposing, his aura restrained but brilliant, and just standing in front of Kyle already put him ahead in this confrontation.
His voice was cold as he spoke, each word clear and firm.
“Didn’t you hear her?”
“She told you to get lost.”
Kyle’s eyes instantly turned vicious. He pressed his lips together and raised his fist, ready to strike
Oliver in the face.
“Who the hell are you? This is between me and my wife. It’s none of your business!”
Oliver sidestepped, adjusted his sleeve, then threw a punch straight into Kyle’s face.
Kyle didn’t dodge in time, taking the full brunt of the punch.
“If you were a real man, you wouldn’t keep harassing her. After everything you’ve done, if I were you, I’d rather just run into a wall and die.”

Kyle was furious and started fighting Oliver.
The two exchanged fierce blows, neither of them letting up. In the end, both had bruised faces, no one emerging victorious.
“Stop! Stop it, are you both crazy?”
I rushed up to pull them apart.
Kyle’s punches weren’t light, and Oliver’s lip was bleeding.
I reached out with a heart full of sympathy and guilt, but before I could touch him, Oliver winced, staring at me with pitiful eyes.
“You’re such a damn actress!”
Seeing this, Kyle lunged forward again, about to grab Oliver by the collar.
I was furious. I stood in front of Oliver, and slapped Kyle across the face.
“Have you had enough?!”
Kyle’s eyes were swollen, his mouth was cut, looking completely disheveled.
He cupped his face with one hand, staring at me with disbelief, his eyes full of hurt.
“Imela, I’m hurt too. Why don’t you care about me?”
“What’s your relationship with him? How could you hit me for him?”
I took a deep breath and looked at him calmly.
“You can mind your business about our relationship. As for me and you, we’ll never have anything to do with each other again.”
“Next time, let’s meet in court.”
I took Oliver’s hand and left without looking back, ignoring him calling my name from behind.
In the office, I was applying medicine to Oliver’s injuries.
He kept wincing, looking as though he was pitifully distressed.
I couldn’t help but apply a little more pressure, feigning reproach as I said.

“How could that happen?”
Oliver immediately retorted, not at all convinced.
“That scumbag? I could easily beat him up.”
