Chapter 6
At the celebration banquet that night, my colleagues had all heard about what happened today and were looking at me with gossip–filled eyes.
I smiled and briefly glossed over the past events.
This, of course, led to a chorus of sighs.
“My god, Imela, I never thought someone as beautiful and outstanding as you would have to deal with a scumbag…”
“Such a trashy man, and the mistress didn’t even get punished.”
I raised an eyebrow. Linda had actually already been punished.
Linda was two years younger than me. She had once been a university student I sponsored.
Her family was biased against women, and after her graduation, they insisted on taking her back to the countryside to marry a fool in exchange for a dowry.
To avoid being taken back by her family, she came to me, asking if I could help her find a job.
At first, I was motivated by sympathy, wanting to help her out.
But in the end, I had let a wolf into the house.
I heard from a friend of mine in Toronto that the day after I left, Linda’s family showed up at the
company.
They dragged her out by her hair, trying to take her back to get married.
She resisted, but was beaten to a pulp.
In the end, they took her away.
However, I didn’t tell my colleagues any of this.
They laughed and raised their glasses, sincerely wishing me well.
“Imela, I wish you a smooth divorce and that you get rid of that scumbag soon.”

Chapter 6
From that day onward, Kyle kept coming to the company building to look for me.
Sometimes he would bring 999 roses to confess his love.
Other times, he would order a cake and shout my name downstairs.
It was utterly disgusting. Just seeing his face made me lose my appetite and skip meals for the day.
I reported him to the police for disturbing the peace.
Kyle was taken away by the police and things quieted down for a while.
I thought he had finally given up, but unexpectedly, he did something even crazier.
One night, he climbed up to the top of our company building.
I had just been getting ready to sleep when I received the call.
“Imela, if you won’t come down to see me, I’ll jump off your company’s building.”
How could I forget? Kyle had always been a crazy man.
I cursed inwardly but didn’t dare provoke him any further. I had to calm him down.
“Don’t do anything rash, I’m coming right over.”
Whether or not he jumped didn’t matter as much; the problem was if he jumped from the top of our company building, it would make a huge scene, and that would affect our company as well.
I texted Oliver and took a cab over.
When Kyle saw I was there, he smiled.
“Imela, I knew you wouldn’t want me to die. You still love me in your heart, don’t you?”
“Do you remember this outfit? This is what I wore the first time we met.”
A gray hoodie and jeans.
Once upon a time, this outfit had made me feel full of vitality and energy. But now, on him, it
seemed so out of place.
“I remember. Come down. Come down and we can talk.”

Chapter 6
Kyle shook his head, his voice dark and deep.
“If you say you’ll forgive me, if you say you forgive me and will get back together with me, I’ll come
down.”
I fell silent.
To be honest, I would rather he jump than say such insincere words.
I asked him back, “Kyle, do you think I should forgive you?”
“You’ve done so many things to hurt me. Do you think you deserve my forgiveness?”
“You not only betrayed me, but you humiliated me in front of my face.”
“Do you remember what you said to me when we first got together?”
Gray hoodie, jeans.
An outfit that used to make me feel full of energy and vitality now looked so out of place on him.
“I remember. Come down. Come down and we can talk.”
Kyle shook his head, his voice low and heavy.
“You not only betrayed me, but you also humiliated me in front of my face.”
“Do you remember what you said to me when we first got together?”
When we first got together, Kyle and I were both poor. We lived in a tiny rented apartment of less than 20 square meters.
In the winter, there was no heating.
