Chapter 7
Kyle’s face was full of self–blame, his eyes reddening.
“Imela, it’s my fault. I couldn’t give you the best life.”
I hugged him to comfort him. “It’s okay. We’ll work hard together. As long as you love me, as long as our hearts are together, nothing will be too hard.”
Kyle raised three fingers and swore.
“I, Kyle, swear to heaven that I will never do anything to hurt Imela. If I break this vow, I will be hit
by a car the moment I step outside.”
I smiled and covered his mouth, not letting him say such things.
Kyle grabbed my hand, his gaze determined as he said.
“Imela, if in the future I ever do anything to hurt you, you must leave me without hesitation. That
person isn’t me, and he’s not worth you staying for.”
At 20, Kyle told me not to forgive the 27–year–old version of him.
I lifted my gaze and met his eyes, calmly replying.
“Kyle, you once told me that if you ever did something to hurt me, I should leave you without
hesitation. I’ve done that.”
“So what are you doing now? Are you threatening and forcing me to do something I don’t want to
do?”
As I thought back to the past, Kyle couldn’t help but freeze.
How could he forget? His greatest wish back then was for Imela to be safe, healthy, and happy.
But now, what was he doing?
Not only had he done things to hurt Imela, but now he was using death to threaten her into forgiving
him.
Kyle climbed down from the railing, holding his head in pain, his face contorted in agony.

“No, that’s not it, it’s not like this…”
“Imela, I don’t know why, I don’t know how everything turned out this way.”
I didn’t speak, just stared at him.
Once I confirmed he was no longer in danger, I quietly waved my hand.
Oliver rushed in with his team and pinned him to the ground.
I couldn’t hold back anymore and stepped forward to slap him, angrily saying.
“Kyle, if you’re going to die, at least die far away! Don’t die in front of me and dirty my eyes!”
Kyle’s eyes were full of hurt. He curled up in pain, sobbing sorrowfully.
“Imela, Imela! I love you…”
But he was dragged further away, and his cries faded from my hearing.
Oliver stood beside me, looking at me with concern.
I touched my face, which was damp with tears.
Kyle’s behavior had become erratic, and he was sent back to his home country.
Oliver also accompanied me back, and we filed for divorce.
With a series of evidence showing the breakdown of our marriage, the divorce proceedings went smoothly. This time, Kyle didn’t cause any more trouble, and he quietly followed behind me to
complete the paperwork.
The moment I received the divorce certificate, I felt a sense of relief I had never experienced before.
As Oliver and I stood side by side, Kyle looked at us with deep regret. He hesitated and asked.
“Imela, if I hadn’t done all this, would our family have been happy?”
“We would’ve grown old together, had a beautiful and smart daughter, raised her with care, traveled the world together, and been by each other’s side for life.”
“Right?”
I gave a light laugh, not responding directly. As I passed by Kyle, I said each word clearly.

“Actually, at that time, I was already two months pregnant.”
That was enough. No need for further explanation; Kyle could fill in the blanks himself.
He looked up in panic, his eyes filled with the deepest guilt and despair. Finally, unable to bear it, he
collapsed to his knees, screaming as he pounded the ground, his fists bleeding.
Oliver stepped forward and quietly asked me what I had said.
I shrugged. “I just told him I was pregnant with his child.”
Oliver gave me a thumbs–up.
Kyle couldn’t possibly verify what I had said. He could only replay it in his mind, suffering with each
painful thought.
Not long after we returned to London, I heard the news. Kyle had been in a car accident. He died before even reaching the hospital.
It was Linda. She had run away from her hometown, rented a car, and, in a crazed state, tried to end
her life along with Kyle.
In the end, she was arrested by the police on the spot, and everything was settled.
The vow Kyle once made had now come true.
Oliver came up behind me, covering my phone, and whispered in my ear.
“Baby, want to go for a walk?”
I smiled and turned to kiss him on the cheek.
“Sure.”
On the day winter officially began in the UK, under the Christmas tree, Kyle had once confessed his
love for me.
And with that, I would soon embark on a brand new beginning.
