Chapter 140
Alpha Liam POV

The girl doesn’t know that my body can absorb drugs and sedatives a lot more quickly than the average shifter. As she tries to undo the zipper on my pants, my hand shoots up and I grab hold of her, twisting the hand viciously and grinning with satisfaction as I hear the sound of her bones breaking in her wrist. She screams, scrambling off of me instantly, holding her wrist to her chest and sobbing. I sit upright and she stares at me, the blood draining out of her face. She had not expected me to become suddenly sober.
“You…” she gasped, her lip quivering, “you were meant to…”
“Be out of it while you rape me?” I said with a hiss, standing up as she cowered backward from you. “Nice try but I’ve got some experience with women trying to do the same thing you did to me” I snarled, my eyes darkening slightly.
She blanched. I moved threateningly towards her. She whimpered.
“Who are you?” I growled, “tell me the truth unless you want to get hurt some more” I warned.
“You know me. I’m Celeste” she whispered “the Alpha’s daughter.”
Of course. I should have remembered. I shook my head in disgust, feeling the urge to get violent and somehow, miraculously managing to restrain myself.
“You’re lucky. If you had been anybody else you would be dead right now, instead of holding a broken wrist. As it is, out of respect to your parents, I’m going to keep this quiet but if you come near me, I’ll let slip what you did” I threatened menacingly.
“I won’t” she stammered.
I moved and she staggered backward, hitting her back on a nearby dresser. I fought back my grin and stormed past, yanking the door open and heading out of the room, desperate for fresh air. I wondered where in the hell my Beta was, feeling frustrated that he hadn’t kept better eyes on me. I would have some choice words for him when I saw him next. Celeste might not have posed much of a threat, but that was still no reason for my Beta to get complacent. Bastard.
I moved back outside, the fresh air doing me good and allowing me to become far more focused. I remembered the girl, the one I had looked at before, certain that the delicious scent that wafted towards me had come from her, and glanced around the campfire. She was gone. I felt disappointment sweep through me. I scanned the crowd but she wasn’t dancing or socializing with the others either. Where could she have gone to? I sniffed, moving closer, getting the faintest hint of her scene,t and frowned. It was leading into the forest. Part of me began to feel a sort of inkling that something wasn’t right, even though I could not tell why that was. The girl looked as though she was capable of handling things on her own. What was her name? Was it Fiona? Had she been the elusive daughter of Alpha Xander? They had said she wasn’t there, but I was certain that it was her before Celeste had seen fit to drug me and drag me away.
I headed into the forest, grateful for the ability to track. I could see footprints and smell her scent growing stronger the deeper I went into the forest. My eyes began to darken as I got closer. I could hear voices up ahead of me. I stiffened for a moment, realizing that it was not just a girl’s voice, but a boys as well. Had she come here for a lovers tryst? My wolf began to growl in anger, but then I listened and realized that this was no lover’s tryst, this was something much more darker and enraging. Before I knew what was happening, I had run forward and seized the boy, grabbing him off of the girl and throwing him violently to the ground. She was half naked, sobbing and staring up at me in shock. I could feel my body beginning to shake as I glanced toward the boy who was beginning to get to his feet. I should have hurt him far more than I had. The girl began to adjust her dress, her face streaked with tears. My wolf was going berserk.
Mate. Mate he shouted, we found our mate.
This boy had tried to rape her. I turned my head and eyed him, watching as he took a good look at me, instantly realizing I was an Alpha.
“Sir” he stammered “it’s not what it looks like. She..” he tried to point at her as the girl got to her feet, trying to smooth down

her dress, her hair disheveled and her makeup smeared.

“I know exactly what it looks like” I hissed, my hands clenching into fists. “How dare you try and force yourself on a woman, let alone an Alpha’s daughter.”
“She’s not” he blurted out “she severed ties with her family. She’s just an ordinary pack member now and she deserved it, the fucking tease” he snapped.
I let out a ferocious roar, the branches from nearby trees shaking from the force of it. The boy paled.
“Do you know the punishment for attempted rape?” my voice was low and deliberate.
“I wasn’t” he tried to protest.
I shot a look at the girl and felt my heart seize. She was still sobbing quietly, her arms wrapped around herself.
“He was” she whispered, looking at me strangely. “I told him to stop” she sniffled “and he wouldn’t.”
My anger increased. I could see bruises on her body where she had tried to fight against him, the boy using his strength to keep her pinned down. I moved slowly, like a predator, towards the boy, smiling coldly at him.
“Turn your head,” I told the girl without looking over my shoulder. “You shouldn’t see this” I added.
The boy began to back away, falling over and looking up at me horrified. “You can’t do this. You’re not the Alpha of this pack” he protested “and you have no authority.”
“No authority?” my tone was bland “I just caught you trying to rape a woman and killed you in the process. I guarantee that they will thank me. The elders will be notified of your transgression. There will be no repercussions for what I do to you, I can assure you” I told him icily.
I wondered if he would be stupid enough to shift. My wolf was almost urging the boy to do it, wanting nothing more than to kill the boy himself. He would not be merciful either. I was half tempted to shift and let him take control, but part of me wanted this to be over so that I could comfort my mate who was sobbing behind me. My fingers flexed.
“No” the boy whispered.
I ignored his pleas. There was nothing more I hated than another shifter trying to sexually assault a woman. I would have done this to Celeste, but the ramifications for that would have been different. I was still angry over earlier and I was allowing that to take over. I grabbed him around the neck and hoisted him upright. Before he could move, I grabbed him in a headlock and then twisted his neck, breaking it and dropping him to the floor like the piece of trash he was.
“Goodbye” I spat and kicked his body for good measure.
I turned and walked back to my mate, shrugging out of my shirt and passing it to her. Her dress was torn and she was clutching at it. She looked up at me gratefully and quickly donned it. I wanted to hug her but I knew that touching her right now would only upset her further.
“Thank you” she whispered “but I don’t even know who you are” she added, her eyes going to the boys body.
I moved, blocking her view. “I’m Alpha Liam” I smiled, “are you by any chance Fiona?”
She nodded slowly. “You mean you are the Alpha of the Black Lightning Pack?” she asked, sounding impressed.
“None other.”
“I’m Fiona” she whispered, “and I was supposed to be transferring to your pack” she added, looking a bit forlorn.
“I know” I said, turning her around and putting a gentle hand on her shoulder. “Why do you sound so upset about it?”

“Because I can’t now. I didn’t” she looked down at the ground as we slowly moved together back to the pack home and the bonfire. “I didn’t get my wolf” she finished in a whisper, a look of embarrassment on her face.
So she didn’t have her wolf. I was certain this was her eighteenth birthday party, which meant she was one of the few rare ones who didn’t gain their wolf and remained practically human. She was no doubt expecting me to reject her transfer hamad on that alone, but I managed to shock her completely with what I uttered next.
“Of course I’ll still allow you to transfer. After all” I winked at her, watching her mouth drop open in surprise, ‘I can hardly refuse my mate, can I?”
