The Costly Bet: Searching for the Child
Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Just when she began to have some doubts, Damon called out, “Mommy!”
Sophie saw her son, but when she turned to look, the elevator doors had already closed
Sophie didn’t think much of it and ordered food for herself and her son to share.
In the afternoon, Sophie didn’t go anywhere. What kept appearing in her mind was the scene where Leo had protected her at the wedding.
She told herself not to think about it, but she couldn’t get Leo’s face out of her mind.
It must be because Leo saved her, and she didn’t want to owe him
any
favors!
She remembered that Leo had been looking for Night, right? Sophie contacted her assistant, Amy, and had Amy inform Leo that she had some free time recently.
She had been in contact with Night for so many years, and Night had never agreed to help anyone. But now, when Night agreed to help, Leo contacted her right away.
“Whom are you trying to save? Send me the information.”
Leo sent over Anabel’s information. Sophie looked at the girl’s condition. She had been born with a
congenital cold condition, and the medicines available on the market couldn’t cure it. Furthermore, her other organs were gradually deteriorating, and she had a unique medical condition. She couldn’t speak,
but her vocal cords were fine.
Leo had raised a child with so many health issues?
“Night, I know you’re a highly skilled doctor. You must save my daughter. Name your conditions; I’ll agree to anything.”
Between the lines, you could see how much Leo cared for this child.
Sophie’s heart felt like it had been pricked by something. If he had known about her other child, would
Leo care this much too?
Sophie replied directly, “I can save her, but it won’t be for free.”
“Of course, you can propose any conditions you like, as long as Night is willing to save her.”
“Five percent of Walton Group’s shares.” Sophie was making a big demand here. Five percent of the shares would amount to billions in annual dividends.

“If Mr. Walton is unwilling, we can forget it.”
“No problem.” Leo replied, “As long as you can save my daughter.”
Five percent of the shares, in comparison to saving Anabel, was insignificant.
Leo agreed so readily that Sophie didn’t hesitate to accept.
“For share transfer details, contact my assistant. I will prepare the medication for you as soon as possible.”
“Then, should we meet in person? You can assess my daughter’s condition. I can arrange a private jet to pick you up. I see hope now.”
He hated the feeling of helplessness when facing his children’s health issues the most.
When Anabel was one or two years old, she spent most of her time growing up in an incubator at the hospital.
Leo watched that tiny little girl smile at him, and his heart softened completely.
“No need,” Sophie had already seen Anabel’s condition and had a rough idea.
“Night, can you also check my son’s condition?” Leo thought of his other child, Jake.
Although Jake appeared normal, he had another strange condition.
The other person involved should be Matilda.
Matilda’s health had been poor before, to the point where she couldn’t take care of herself.
Sophie’s lips curled up. “Sure, fifty percent of the shares.”
Leo, “…”
Was this Night a money lover? Her tone was truly unyielding.
