I lay alone in the villa for two days.
When I woke up, I spoke to my biological parents abroad on the phone.
“I decided to apply for permanent immigration instead of a short–term visa.”
There was a cry of surprise over the phone, but no joy in my heart.
It was painful and difficult for me to leave the city where I had lived for more than 20 years.

The process of applying for permanent residence was a little more complicated than a regular visa. I prepared a lot of materials and went back and forth to the embassy in the US several times.
When I left the embassy for the last time, an eye–catching Ferrari whizzed past.

It was an answer I’ve always had in mind.
Sean gently nodded, masking the less obvious emotion just now.
When he saw me at the embassy today, his first thought was that he was wrong.
How could I have gone abroad without telling him?
When he turned back and saw me getting into the taxi, he began to feel a little uneasy.

sister, remembering to prepare gifts.”
