Chapter 110
Lewis walked over step by step, stopping in front of Doris. He stared into her eyes, a mischievous smile playing on his lips. “Playing hard to get?”
“Who… who’s playing hard to get?” Doris protested, though her voice stuttered. “I need to go wash up.”
Doris tried to dodge Lewis, but he grabbed the back of her collar. “Not so fast. Let’s talk about how you ended up in my bed.”
“I told you, I don’t know,” Doris said, trying to pull his hand away. “Let go. You’ll ruin the shirt.”
“It’s my shirt. If it gets ruined, it’s on me,” Lewis said, not letting go.
“If you don’t let go, I’ll really stop being proper,” Doris threatened. If the shirt got ruined, she’d be the one at a disadvantage.
“Oh?” Lewis raised an eyebrow. “How do you plan to stop being proper?”
Lewis twisted her collar, turning her to face him. Before he could say anything, Doris stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek.
In the next second, Lewis let her go, and Doris seized the chance to escape. But Lewis was quick. He grabbed her wrist, pulled her back, and pinned her to the bed.
He held her wrists above her head, leaving Doris unable to move. She looked at Lewis‘ handsome face so close to hers and began to panic. “Lewis, what are you doing?”
“What do you think I’m doing?” Lewis said with a playful smile. “I never let myself lose out.”
“It was just a kiss on the cheek.”
“So I’ll return the favor.”
Doris‘
eyes
widened, but before she could say anything, Lewis leaned down and captured her lips, showing her what a real
kiss was like.
This was completely different from the light pecks they’d shared before. It was domineering and intense.
Doris‘ mind went blank. By the time Lewis finally let her go, she was out of breath.
“That’s what it means to be improper, got it?” Lewis said, wiping his lips with his thumb.
That gesture was way too seductive for her.
Doris‘ face turned bright red. She pushed Lewis away, jumped off the bed, and fled like a rabbit.
Doris quickly escaped to the bathroom outside and locked the door. She leaned against the door, her heart pounding like a drum.
Doris and Lewis changed clothes and came out one after the other.
They glanced at each other, and Doris quickly looked away, speeding up her steps.
Lewis, on the other hand, acted as if nothing had happened, his usual composed self.
When they reached the dining room, Laura had already prepared breakfast.
“I have something to say. While I’m staying here, I’ll handle breakfast. Don’t argue with me,” Laura said firmly.

Chapter 110
Doris kept her head down, eating her sandwich in silence.
Lewis simply nodded.
“Doris, what’s wrong with you?” Laura asked, noticing Doris‘ lack of response.
“Nothing’s wrong,” Doris said, still not looking up.
“Doris, your face is red.” Laura pointed out.
“No, it’s–it’s just hot,” Doris said, fanning herself. “It’s so hot that my face turned red.”
Lewis, sitting beside her, couldn’t help but chuckle at her lame excuse.
Doris caught his smile from the corner of her eye and gritted her teeth in frustration.
She thought, ‘It was all his fault.
She hadn’t expected Lewis to be such a good kisser, so good that she didn’t want the kiss to end, wanting to lose herself in it. Now, she couldn’t even look at Lewis without remembering that kiss in the room.
She angrily kicked Lewis under the table.
Lewis grunted, caught off guard by the sudden kick.
Laura immediately turned to him in concern. “Lewis, are you okay?”
“Laura, I… I’m fine,” Lewis said, giving Doris a meaningful look.
Laura wasn’t stupid. That look told her everything she needed to know.
She glared at Doris. “Doris, don’t bully Lewis.”
“Laura, Lewis is so capable. How could I possibly bully him?” Doris said sarcastically.
“I’m capable?” Lewis caught the key point.
Doris stared at his smug face for a few seconds before realizing that his words had taken on a different meaning.
Blood rushed to her fair face. She threw down the bun she was holding and stood up. “Laura, enjoy your meal. I’m going to the hospital to see Mom.”
“Wait, I’ll drive you.” Lewis offered.
“No need,” Doris said, wanting to get as far away from him as possible.
With a bang, the security door closed behind her.
Laura turned back to Lewis, speaking gently, “Lewis, if Doris does anything wrong, let me know. I’ll talk to her. Doris is still a girl at heart. She can be a bit temperamental sometimes. I hope you’ll be patient with her and not take it to heart.”
“She’s fine,” Lewis said without any resentment. “I won’t hold it against her. Don’t worry, Laura.”
Lewis peeled a boiled egg and placed it on Arianna’s plate.
“Thank you, Lewis. Love you!” Arianna made a heart shape with her hands above her head.
Lewis gently pinched her soft cheek with his clean fingers.

“Laura, I’m done eating. I’m heading to work,” Lewis said, standing up and grabbing his suit jacket.
Laura also stood up, leaning on the table. “Oh, and Lewis, about the rental situation, could you ask your friend to hurry it
up?
Lewis and Doris had no objections to her staying with them, and they treated her and Arianna well. But Laura couldn’t feel at ease relying on them and wanted to move out as soon as possible.
“Sure, I’ll ask him to get back to me as soon as possible,” Lewis said before hurrying off.
Lewis was changing his shoes at the entrance when Laura approached with a thermal lunchbox. “Here, this is breakfast for Mom. Doris forgot to take it.”
“Got it,” Lewis said, taking the lunchbox.
He drove out of the underground parking lot and, upon exiting the neighborhood, spotted Doris heading toward the subway station.
He honked twice to get her attention.
Doris turned around, saw it was Lewis, and quickened her pace.
“Get in the car,” Lewis said, pulling up beside her.
“I’ll take the subway.” Doris refused.
Lewis stepped on the gas, driving ahead of her and stopping to block her path. He quickly got out of the car, walked around to the passenger side, and opened the door. “You can’t park here. And Mom’s breakfast is in the car.”
Lewis stood tall and handsome. Wherever he went, he became the center of attention.
At the subway entrance, countless women on their way to work turned their heads, drawn by his striking looks.
Doris, noticing the gazes directed at them, felt annoyed.
“If you don’t get in, I’ll carry you in.” Lewis threatened.
Lewis was a man of his word. Doris didn’t dare hesitate and quickly bent down to get into the car.
Lewis closed the door for her, returned to the driver’s seat, and drove off.
“Are you that scared of me?” Lewis‘ deep voice reached her ears.
