Chapter 112
The outpatient hall was bustling with people. Through the crowd, Lewis spotted Matteo.
A young girl was holding Matteo’s hand, her pretty face showing a shy smile. “Mr. Webb, I’m pregnant.”
Matteo reached out and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear but didn’t say anything.
They had met at a cocktail party. Roniany Shelters was a recent college graduate.
After a one–night stand, Matteo had given Romany 65 thousand dollars to leave him alone.
She didn’t take the money, only saying, “My feelings can’t be bought. I just love you.”
After that, Romany resigned from the company and didn’t bother him again.
Later, they met again at a bar. Romany was being harassed, and Matteo stepped in to help. That was when he found out they had attended the same university, though he had graduated before she enrolled.
When he took her home that night, they couldn’t resist each other and ended up together again.
Romany was gentle and well–behaved. Whenever Matteo was upset, he would visit her.
She would cook for him and keep him company without saying much. They were like a couple.
Romany’s period was late, so she came to the hospital for a checkup.
Romany bit her lip and said urgently, “Mr. Webb, I won’t make things difficult for you. It’s up to you to decide about this child. If you don’t want it, I’ll get an abortion right away-”
She was smart. She didn’t use the child to force Matteo to give her a title. Instead, she retreated to advance, making him feel -pity for her.
“If you want to keep it, then go ahead.” Matteo’s eyes showed a hint of a smile.
Romany was surprised that Matteo agreed to let her keep the child.
“This is our child, of course I want to keep it. But can I really? Will we be safe?” Romany gently touched her flat stomach. “Will my child and I be safe?”
She had always known Matteo was married. But she didn’t know what kind of person Matteo’s wife was. She heard that wealthy wives might turn a blind eye to their husbands‘ affairs, but they wouldn’t tolerate illegitimate children.
“Of course you can. I’ll be here.” Matteo ruffled her hair.
Romany was seven years younger than him, young, cute, gentle, and considerate–everything he liked.
He had once passionately pursued Laura, putting in all the effort for a long time. But after meeting Romany, he finally understood what mutual affection felt like.
“Okay.” Romany quickly thanked him. “Thank you, Mr. Webb.”
“If it’s a boy, I won’t treat you poorly.” Matteo had his own obsessions.
From today onward, Romany would pray every day that the child in her belly was a boy. Only then would Matteo look at her differently.
“Let’s go. I’ll find you a new place to stay. You’ll need someone to take care of you now.” Matteo took her hand.

Romany was flattered. “Mr. Webb, you’re so kind.”
“Then be good and listen to me.“.
“I’ll always listen to you.”
Matteo and Romany walked forward, running into Lewis.
Matteo’s eyes flickered, and the next second, he instinctively let go of Romany’s hand.
Romany’s hand was now empty. She followed Matteo’s gaze and saw Lewis standing across from them
She thought, ‘Oh my, this man was dressed in a black suit, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. He’s so tall
His presence was so powerful that it was impossible to ignore him, especially with his strikingly handsome face
Clearly, Matteo paled in comparison to Lewis.
Lewis didn’t give them any extra attention. He only paused for a few seconds before continuing on his way.
Lewis walked past Matteo as if he didn’t know him, calm and composed.
But in that moment, Matteo felt an overwhelming chill.
It wasn’t until Lewis was far away that Matteo finally relaxed and hurriedly led Romany away.
Once they were in the car, Matteo’s complexion still didn’t look good, and beads of sweat formed on his forehead.
Romany handed him a bottle of water. “Mr. Webb, have some water.”
Matteo took it and drank heavily, finishing almost half the bottle.
“Mr. Webb, are you okay?” Romany asked cautiously.
“I’m fine.” Matteo never expected to run into Lewis in such a situation.
“Who was that?” Romany sensed something unusual between them.
“No one.” Matteo handed the water back to her, staring into her curious eyes. “Romany, don’t ask questions you shouldn’t.”
“Okay, I understand.” Romany nodded.
Matteo then started the car and drove away from the hospital.
Lewis had already arrived at Danis‘ office.
“What brings you here?” Danis was putting on his white coat.
“When is Payton’s surgery scheduled?” Lewis walked to the desk, pulled out a black chair, and sat down, crossing his long legs casually but with poise.
“It’s scheduled for this Friday.” Danis, though not the primary surgeon, had been keeping an eye on it. With Lewis‘ request, he didn’t dare to slack off.
“Noted.” Lewis‘ fingers tapped lightly on the desk, elegant as if he were playing the piano. “I’m busy on Friday, so keep an eye on things for me. Let me know if anything comes up.”
Danis walked over and leaned against the desk, his face full of gossip. “How much do you like Doris? You’re even this concerned about her family. You’ve finally developed feelings for someone.”

Lewis glanced at him. “Isn’t it normal for spouses to help each other?”
“Oh…” Danis dragged out his tone.
“Speak properly,” Lewis frowned slightly, his perfectly shaped brows showing displeasure. “I’m leaving.”
“Wait.” Danis got off the desk, opened a drawer, and took out two tickets, handing them to Lewis.

“These are from Luna. She asked me to give them to you. She wants you to take Doris to the concert. She said she’s the only one in the family who hasn’t met Doris yet, and she wants to see her.”
Lewis took the two concert tickets–VIP seats with the best view.
“Just because she wants it, I have to bring Doris? Don’t forget who’s the older brother in this family.” Lewis stood up and left.
Lewis went to the underground parking lot and got into his waiting Rolls–Royce.
The Rolls–Royce drove straight to Hartman Group, and Lewis took the private elevator to the top floor.
After that, he had a meeting. An hour later, he returned to his office.
Daniel followed him in. “Mr. Hartman, Watson Group has lost two projects in a row. At yesterday’s board meeting, Ryan was grilled by the shareholders.”
“This is just the beginning.” Lewis leaned back in his chair, his deep eyes cold and ruthless. “We’ll take our time playing with him until he has nothing left.”
Being Lewis‘ enemy was a nightmare. No one could escape his grasp.
Lewis said, “By the way, Daniel, find a caregiver for Doris‘ mother.”
Peyton’s surgery was coming up, and she would need constant care. The responsibility would ultimately fall on Doris and Laura. It would be better to hire a professional caregiver so theywouldn’t be overwhelmed.
“Understood.”
“I saw Matteo being intimate with another woman today. Look into whether Matteo is having an affair and gather evidence.” If they had proof, it would be beneficial for Laura’s divorce.
