Chapter 125
Rupert nodded. “Yes.”
Lewis then took Doris and left the ward, the cold vibe dissipating instantly.
Both Rupert and Claudia breathed a huge sigh of relief.
“Claudia, my current job was found by my brother–in–law for my sister’s sake, getting into Hartman Group is such an honor, I want to work hard there.
“Don’t provoke my sister anymore, you’ve seen how scary my brother–in–law is.” Rupert felt a deep headache. “What if I lose my job? What will we eat?”
“I didn’t provoke her. She provoked me.” Claudia still refused to admit her fault.
“Other men protecting their wives, and what about you? You have no backbone, completely dominated. Marrying you gives me no sense of security at all, Rupert, can’t you be a real man? Then I wouldn’t be bullied by them.”
As she spoke, Claudia’s tears welled up, swirling in her eyes, her delicate and pitiful appearance most likely to stir a man’s protective instincts.
Once, Rupert would have tenderly wiped her tears and held her, softly comforting her. But now, looking at her tears, Rupert felt less heartache and more annoyance.
“You seem to be speaking loudly and moving freely, so you should be fine. I’ll find a nurse to take care of you, and I’ll go back to work.” Rupert didn’t want to argue with Claudia.
“Rupert, do I have no conscience? I’m carrying your child, and you’re leaving me alone in the hospital?” Claudia, not getting the comfort she wanted, was dissatisfied.
“I said I’d find a nurse.” Rupert repeated.
“Do I need a nurse?” Claudia bit her lip.
“Claudia, I took leave as soon as I got the call and rushed to the hospital. I only took two hours off, I can’t stay here with you, I need to work, I need to earn money to support our family.”
“Earn money to support our family? That sounds nice.”
“Claudia, can’t you talk properly?” Rupert frowned, “I work so hard for our family, for you and the baby to live happily. There will be so many expenses after the baby is born, if I don’t work hard, I’ll be fired like last time.
“If I don’t have a job, you’ll be even more unhappy, calling me useless, and constantly arguing with me. Claudia, can you understand me? I’m really tired.”
“You think you’re the only one tired? What about me?” Claudia turned her head away, tears silently streaming down her face.
“My own home is taken over by your parents, I don’t feel comfortable at all, I even have to escape my own home, if I hadn’t been forced out, would this have happened. Am I not tired?”
“Claudia, they’re my parents, they have nowhere else to live, what’s wrong with them staying at our house? If it were your parents with nowhere to live, and I asked you to kick them out, how would you feel? Can’t you put yourself in their shoes?” Rupert couldn’t bear to kick his parents out.
“My parents wouldn’t be so inconsiderate as to come and disturb us,” Claudia sneered.
“Yes, your parents are considerate, my parents are not, fine, think what you want.” Rupert felt there was no reasoning with

Claudia. “I’m leaving.”
As soon as Rupert left, Claudia, who had been biting her lip and holding back, burst into tears, broken….
Doris got into Lewis‘ car, heading to the coffee shop.
“Why did you come to the hospital?” Doris was puzzled.
“Lola contacted Ivan and told me.” Lewis glanced at her from the corner of his eye. “She was afraid you’d be bullied”
“But isn’t this taking you away from work?” Doris felt a bit guilty. “I’m really not that easy to bully. If I need you to stand up for me all the time, then I’m really living without any backbone. Don’t do this in the future.”
“What are you talking about, relying on me more doesn’t mean you’re spineless.” Lewis didn’t agree with her statement. “It’s only natural for a wife to rely on her husband.”
But Doris had her own considerations. “I’m grateful for your protection, but it depends on the situation and occasion. Like today’s small matter, it wasn’t necessary, especially during your work hours. I hope you can focus on your work, you’re still young and should prioritize your career.”
“Okay, I’ll listen to you.” Lewis understood that Doris was thinking of him.
Lewis dropped Doris off at Loris Cafe.
Lola, seeing her return, quickly approached and gave her a thorough once–over. “I’m glad you’re okay.”
“I’m definitely fine,” Doris said confidently, “The doctor said she overate. The baby’s fine.”
“That’s good.” Lola’s anxious heart settled. “Although she’s quite detestable, the baby in her belly is innocent. It’s good that the baby’s fine.”
Lola’s sense of right and wrong was still
very
clear.
“I’ll head back to work.” Lewis had also taken time out from his work.
“Wait a moment,” Doris said to Lola, “Make a cup of coffee.”
Lola made an “OK” gesture.
Doris packed a tiramisu and a small pastry, along with the latte Lola just made, for him. “If you’re hungry, have something to
eat.”
Lewis took the carefully prepared snacks from her. “Okay.”
Doris walked Lewis to the door, watched him get into the car, waved goodbye, and said farewell.
This scene melted Lola and a group of young men and women in the shop almost to the point of melting.
“Doris‘ husband is so handsome and considerate. If I had such a husband, I wouldn’t even go to work, I’d just look at him all day to make sure no one else takes him away.”
“Look at you, so easily satisfied? Women should be independent.”
“Exactly, what’s the point of a husband who can be easily taken away by someone else?”
“That’s why Doris found such a good husband, and you’re still single.”

Chapter 225
Someone asked Lola Lola, how did Doris find such a good husband like Mr. Hartman?”
Lola said. It was a flash marriage.
A fash manage
That’s such good luck
I’m so jealous
“I’m jealous too. Lola propped her chin, sighing. “When will I get to be in a relationship?”
Doris put a hand on Lola’s shoulder. “You could be in a relationship in no time, stop complaining.”
“But the person I want to be with isn’t helping.” Lola clutched her chest, making a heartbroken expression.
There are plenty of fish in the sea.” Doris patted her shoulder.
But Lola got fired up. Tm determined to have this one fish.”
Doris was rendered speechless. She thought, It seems she won’t give up until she’s dead.

Lola quickly made a cup of coffee, and then picked out a tiramisu and some cookies, mimicking Doris. She packed them in a paper bag and looked at Doris puzzled gaze.
“If he doesn’t make the first move, then I will” Lola winked at Doris.
Doris was speechless.
Don’t you have anything to say to me?” Lola, seeing Doris silent, pretended to be dissatisfied.
