Chapter 8
Ayleen heard a commotion and stepped out, only to see Kenneth and Greg locked in a heated confrontation, their anger palpable.
Kenneth and Greg, both strikingly handsome and immensely wealthy, were engaged in a heated fight about her.
Ayleen’s eyes showed a brief smile, but it quickly disappeared.
She heard Kenneth and Greg yelling.
“I truly can’t fathom how Everly could have ever fallen in love with someone like you in the first place! You publicly broke your engagement to her and then went on to date Ayleen!”
“At least I’m better than you! You’re a selfish, cunning liar! You trapped Everly with fake love for
another woman!”
Ayleen bit her teeth hard.
So, they were arguing over Everly!
Ayleen took a deep breath and pretended to look worried.
“Greg! Kenny! Why are you fighting?”
The fight stopped because Ayleen intervened. For the first time, Greg didn’t look at Ayleen. He glared at Kenneth, said “He deserved that,” and left.
When Greg got back to the apartment, it was very dark.
His heart skipped a beat, thinking Everly might not be home yet.
But when he turned on the light, he saw the empty living room.
A bad feeling suddenly filled Greg’s heart.
He stood still for a moment, didn’t bother to change his shoes, and rushed into the bedroom.
There was nothing, absolutely nothing.
No Everly, not even her things.
Greg took out his phone to call Everly, but his hands shook too much to press the buttons.
When he finally dialed, it said the number was out of service.
Greg didn’t believe it and tried again, but got the same result.
He fell to the floor, feeling defeated, but then his eyes filled with anger.

It must be Kenneth’s fault. He caused trouble and said something to Everly!
He would deal with Kenneth first, then sincerely apologize to Everly,
Everly would surely forgive him!
Meanwhile, Kenneth didn’t know what had happened,
Ayleen, blushing, asked for a kiss, but he instinctively moved away.
The atmosphere suddenly grew tense and awkward.
“Ayla, I need a cigarette. I’ll step out for a bit.”
Ayleen said with concern, “Kenny, it would be better if you smoked less.”
Kenneth smiled slightly, didn’t say anything, and left.
Before, Kenneth would have hugged her gently, saying, “Okay, I won’t.”
Why had everything changed?
It was all Everly’s fault!
Ayleen’s expression contorted with a mix of emotions.
She thought, “Everly, everything you have will be mine! No matter how you try, it’s useless!”
Ayleen’s face turned fierce, planning a new revenge in her mind.
Kenneth left the hospital, leaned against the wall, and lit a cigarette.
The smoke hid his expression.
It seemed to cloud his thoughts too.
Why had he been thinking of Everly a lot lately?
He suddenly remembered he often skipped breakfast in high school.
Everly would give him her snacks with a smile.
Even though she had very little, she always made sure to give him more, ensuring he had bett
food.
He had taken her kindness for granted.
Thinking of those times, a strange, mixed feeling filled Kenneth’s heart.
Lost in thought, Kenneth was surprised when Greg pushed him against the wall.

Kenneth frowned.
“What’s wrong with you?”
