The reason when Benjamin had gone looking for Olivia earlier, he found her in the middle of devouring the lamb, her lips glistening with grease, clearly not done with her meal. Feeling a pang of sympathy, he had ordered the staff to modify the garden hall slightly, setting up the curtains while also placing a roasted lamb near the piano so Olivia could eat while playing one hand. Not wanting to compromise either task, Olivia had chosen a relatively simple piece to play.
Since Daxton’s birthday banquet had no other guests from the entertainment industry apart from Olivia, her striking beauty and mysterious presence had sparked curiosity among many attendees.
Earlier, in the back garden, there hadn’t been many guests around, so only a few had noticed Alexander’s particular attentiveness toward Olivia.
Now, most of the guests found it odd that a minor celebrity, someone who had only just begun making a name for herself, was the only entertainer present at such an exclusive gathering. However, once Olivia -started playing, their scepticism began to fade.
“I knew it! I was wondering why Mr. Daxton would invite some unknown actress to his first publicly hosted birthday banquet. Turns out, she’s here to play the piano,” a group of wealthy young men murmured among themselves, each holding a wine glass.
They were all here hoping to curry favor with Daxton.
“You’re still too naive, do you really think she’s just here to play the piano? Don’t be ridiculous. Her piano skills are just average. If the Moore family truly wanted a pianist, with their status, they could have invited any world renowned maestro. Why bring in a second rate actress?”
“What do you mean?”
“Brother, have you even looked at this Olivia appearance?” The speaker smirked. “She may not be famous, but she’s absolutely stunning. Those delicate features? In the entertainment industry, she’s top–tier. You should know by now what that means in our circles.”
