Chapter 8 Shadow Pack’s Heiress.
Felix nodded slightly. He’s fine”

With that, he presented his gift–nothing less than a world–famous painting, a piece of land in Minespir valued in the hundreds of millions, and a whole host of other luxurious items.
Eleanor’s eyes sparkled with delight, and she showered him with thanks, her gaze toward me now tinged with something else. The guests around us began whispering among themselves.
Many knew that Alpha Hubert of Shadow Pack and Alpha Richard of Eclipse Pack had been close friends for over a century. But over a decade ago, for reasons unknown, Hubert had suddenly retired and led Shadow Pack into the remote, frozen land of Frostmoore.
After more than ten years in hiding. Shadow Pack had faded from the recognition of many werewolf families on the continent. Still, Felix’s extravagant gifts were enough to make anyone take notice, and I couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret.
My grandfather had wasted all this wealth by giving such luxurious gifts to the blind fools of the Eclipse
Pack.
After exchanging pleasantries with Caden, Felix left quickly, never even sparing me a glance. His cold attitude didn’t go unnoticed by the guests or the Holbrooks.
I was satisfied.
Felix’s gesture had firmly cemented my position as a lowly Omega who wasn’t valued by Shadow Pack.
Eleanor, ever the opportunist, would surely recognize the significance of her grandfather’s lavish gifts. Once she realizes I’m the Alpha of Shadow Pack, she’ll know I won’t be going anywhere. As for Caden, if he ever finds out how much wealth I actually have, who knows what he’ll do? He might not want to break the engagement after all.
“That Alpha of Shadow Pack sure is generous. I heard that his granddaughter is his first heir. I wonder what kind of elegant young lady she must be,” one of the gossiping women remarked.
Wendy looked at me, then at Felix’s retreating figure, before curling her lips in a mocking sneer. “I’ve heard. that the heiress of the Shadow Pack isn’t just graceful, but also quite formidable, wouldn’t you agree? Ms. Sinclair, since you’re also from Eclipse Pack, have you ever met the heiress?”
I shook my head, and the other women snickered, covering their mouths in laughter.
The heir of Shadow Pack was practically a legend to outsiders. Very few knew her name, and even fewer had seen her in person.
“Oh, by the way, Wendy, didn’t you meet Alpha Hubert’s granddaughter at the Phoshire Fashion Show?”
Wendy glanced at me, then nodded. “Yes, I did. She’s incredibly beautiful and noble. We even exchanged Twitter handles and had a lovely chat. She told me that she’ll visit me
when she comes to Rivemon! I’ll introduce you to her when she does.”
“Wow, Wendy, you’re amazing!
Wendy was such a liar!

I couldn’t hold back any longer. I raised an eyebrow and asked, “Are you sure you really met the heiress of the Shadow Pack?”
Wendy flusteredly nodded. “Of course I did.”
“What? I guess you must be very envious of Wendy. So what if you have the same surname as the Shadow Pack heiress? You’re just a bumpkin compared to her,” one of the women continued to mock.
I smirked and walked away.
These fools, so desperate to deceive themselves, were almost too ridiculous to watch.
Wendy kept glancing at me, clearly worried I might expose her. I couldn’t be bothered to do that; watching her keep up the act was far more entertaining.
Freya told me that ever since I finished playing the piano, Caden hadn’t taken his eyes off me.
I wasn’t bothered by it. When I played, all eyes in the room were on me–one more pair of eyes didn’t
matter.
Then Freya spoke again. “Caden is angry with you for ignoring him tonight.”
I took a sip of my sweet wine, glancing sideways at Caden. Sure enough, his expression was as cold as ice.
I couldn’t help but feel a surge of ridicule. This man was so petty.
He must have expected me to fail like Wendy, just waiting to see me mess up. But I’d outperformed her–he probably never saw that coming.
I had no interest in dealing with a self–centered man like him.
I decided to treat these three months as a personal challenge, a chance to develop some inner peace. It would be over before I knew it.
I sat alone for a while, then I decided to leave early.
Just as I was about to head out and grab a cab, I suddenly heard Caden’s voice behind me.
“Who gave you permission to leave without saying anything?”
