Chapter 4
“Mom, are you feeling dizzy? Let me take you to rest!” Lucas’s voice was filled with concern as he helped Ember to a high–end resting room, decorated like a luxurious hotel.
Joseph came over, placing Ember gently on the bed. He hurriedly asked, “Where is he?”
There was some noise at the door, followed by a shift on the bed. Ember could smell the strong scent of alcohol coming from the person lying beside her.
Lucas cautiously spoke, “Sister Jennifer, he’s not Uncle Hayes. What should I say?”
Jennifer responded, “Just say you went to get Mom a glass of water and saw her kissing this uncle in the
room.”
Joseph’s voice was filled with dissatisfaction as he asked, “Who is this person? I’ve never seen him before.”
Jennifer explained, “I originally called Amy, but it was David who answered. He said Amy was secretly seeing another man and had already been arrested by the police. I didn’t have a choice, and in a rush, I just picked up someone from the hotel.”
Joseph complained, “How can you just pick a man like that? What if this man is serious?”
Jennifer argued, “Why does it matter? She sleeps with whoever. Do you still care about her?”
To stop their arguing, Ember feigned a fainting sound, which startled them.
They quickly hurried Lucas out of the room.
They hid in the next room, thinking their plan had succeeded.
The two exchanged a knowing smile, eagerly waiting for the right moment to bring everyone into her lounge and catch her in the act.
Jennifer walked over to Joseph, teasingly running her hand up his thigh.
“You were just complaining about that man. Don’t tell me you still have feelings for her?”
Joseph replied, “She’s still Lucas’s mother. I just want to save her some face.”
Jennifer sat on the high chair, her legs draped around him.
“You’re getting a divorce. Why bother with face? Is there still a place for her in your heart?”
Chapter 4
Joseph answered, “How could I? You’re the only one in my heart.”
Jennifer didn’t believe him. She slipped her hand inside, enjoying the moment.
“Stop messing around. There are so many people here,” Joseph muttered, trying to maintain some control.
“Who cares? She’s asleep. Once we’re done, we’ll take care of her,” Jennifer said.
Joseph, aroused and helpless, pressed her against the bed, trying to keep their clothes unwrinkled.
What they didn’t realize was that their every move was being broadcast live on a big screen, with Jennifer’s gasps echoing throughout the entire banquet hall.
The room fell silent as everyone watched, stunned by what they were witnessing.
Just ten minutes earlier, the man who had sworn his love for Ember on stage was now acting like a wild animal on screen.
When Ember opened the door, Joseph and Jennifer panicked like dogs caught in the act.
She burst into tears in front of everyone. “Husband, didn’t you say you’d love me forever? What are you doing? And in front of our son!”
Lucas was sitting on the sofa, playing games. His nearsightedness was severe, and the doctor had advised him to stay away from electronics. But Joseph had given him his phone to make things easier, allowing him to play games nearby.
Behind Ember stood Joseph’s colleagues, who had been invited to witness her disgrace. Many of them exchanged disdainful looks after seeing what Joseph had done.
Jennifer’s face shifted from panic to fury. “Ember! Are you crazy? You set us up!”
“How can you say I set you up? Everything you’ve done can be seen on the big screen. Everyone can see for themselves,” Ember retorted.
Joseph, still in disbelief, rushed to the banquet hall to check. Upon seeing the screen replaying their actions, he smashed the screen in a fit of rage, his face pale and his body trembling.
“Ember, what do you want? We were once married. Do you have to go this far?” Joseph demanded.
“I’ve waited for this birthday party for half a month. And yet you used this opportunity to frame me for an affair and had our son drug me? How could you go so far?” Ember shot back.
“You just want a divorce, don’t you? Fine, let’s make it official. Everyone here can be a witness. I agree to the divorce,” she declared.
Chapter 4
Lucas ran to Joseph, glaring at Ember. “I don’t want you! I want to be with Dad!”
In the end, Lucas stood with his father.
“Since you want to be with him, I won’t force you to stay,” Ember said coldly.
She turned to Joseph with a mocking smile.
“I won’t fight you for custody, but I won’t pay alimony either. I won’t take a penny of your assets, and you don’t deserve mine.”
Jennifer sneered, “What assets do you have? Haven’t you been living off Joseph for the past ten years? What’s so special about that?”
