Chapter 16 She’s My Moml
Raul’s eyes turned red, ready to attack.
But he recalled Ariella’s words and remained calm. He neither hit Leonel nor even engaged in an argument with him.
Leonel, who hadn’t seen Raul cry, was annoyed.
“She will be returning to my dad’s house soon, and you’ll be sent to an orphanage!
“Kids like you will always be discarded, like garbage.”
He made a face, and nearby kids, confused, laughed.
Ariella, forgetting that Kaleb was around, hurried over.
As Raul got angry, she held his hand.
“Rauly, Mommy’s here.”
Raul’s red eyes calmed, and he looked upset and aggrieved.
“Mommy.”
Ariella’s heart softened.
“It’s okay. Just remember, you don’t have to put up with these kinds of insults anymore in the future.”
A sad look appeared on Raul’s face, a demeanor uncommon for a child of his age.
“But Mommy, he’s also your child.
“I’m a month older than him.”
He meant he was the older brother.
The younger brother was naughty, so he shouldn’t fight back.
Ariella crouched and pinched his cheek.
“But you’re still a kid yourself, right? Why do you always let the younger ones have their way and just put up with stuff?”
Raul’s eyes lit up, and he held Ariella’s hand tightly.
Then he looked at Leonel confidently.
“My mom will come to the sports day!”
He copied Leonel and made a face.
He swayed Ariella’s hand, acting spoiled.
“Mommy, I want fried chicken strips today.”
Ariella smiled and gently stroked his head.“Alright, let’s head home. I’ll cook for you.”
Leonel was so angry he almost burst into tears.
Fried chicken strips!
The outside restaurant’s taste bothered him.
Ariella’s homemade strips were perfect. He hadn’t had them in a while.
“You can’t just make fried chicken strips for him! I want you to come back to my house and cook for me!”

He ran and grabbed Ariella’s other hand.
It seemed like he could pull her back to his home.
Ariella didn’t pull her hand away.
She spoke to Leonel as gently as she spoke to Raul.
“Leo, I taught you to respect your teachers and friends before, and
you

“I told you before, harsh words can really hurt, and you promised you wouldn’t say things like that anymore,”
Leonel’s face showed panic.
“Um, it’s him! Mommy, he tries to take you away from me!”
Ariella asked him.
“Do you remember what you said when I left the detention center?”
Leonel’s face froze, likely recalling that day, and his eyes turned red.
He almost cried.
“I’m just a kid, so you shouldn’t take what I say to heart!”
Ariella sighed.
“But it wasn’t the first time.”
Tears formed in Leonel’s eyes, and he couldn’t speak.
But Ariella’s tone stayed gentle.
“Leo, it’s you who never chose me in the first place.”
Leonel started crying loudly.
Jovan’s assistant, Ruth, came to pick up Leonel. Upon seeing him, she quickly lifted him up.
“Mrs. Hensley, how can you treat Leo this way? It’s just too much!”
-Ariella looked at the crowd.
She didn’t see Sarah or Lailah, nor Jovan’s car.
She didn’t reply to Ruth but asked.
“Have you been picking him up recently?”
Before, when she was late picking up Raul, no other parents were there.
This was her first time seeing Ruth.
Ruth still appeared distressed.“Mrs. Hensley, since you’ve been insisting on a divorce from Mr. Hensley, as his assistant, I have to come and pick up Leo.

“I’m not the one who should have to say this, but Mr. Hensley is extremely busy and isn’t eating properly. Are you sure you are attentive to your husband?”
Ariella understood. Ruth was implying that she wasn’t worthy to be Jovan’s wife.
She found it amusing.“Ms. Herring, it seems you’re doing an excellent job as Jovan’s assistant. I wish you luck and a swift promotion.”
She took Raul’s hand and prepared to leave.
Leonel tried to stop them.
Ruth held him tightly. “Mr. Leonel, I bought your favorite game console. Let’s go home, okay?”
Leonel immediately calmed down but then shouted loudly.
“That is so kind of you, Ms. Herring. I love playing games more than anything!”

“I’m glad you like it.”
“Ms. Herring, I want to play for three hours!”
“No problem.”
“And I want to eat lots of lollipops.”

“Okay, but remember to brush your teeth at night.”
“Yeah, time to play games!”
As he said this, he held Ruth’s neck, but his face was turned towards Ariella.
He was deliberately shouting at her.

Ariella’s footsteps paused slightly, her heart feeling more disappointed. Without looking back, she tightened her grip on Raul and hailed a taxi.
After Leonel was carried into the car by Ruth, he suddenly started to fuss again.
“I don’t want to go
home!”
Ruth patiently coaxed, “Mr. Leonel, if you don’t go home, Mr. Hensley will worry.”
“I won’t go back, I don’t care!”
He rolled around on the car seat, making Ruth unsure of what to do.
Finally, she gave in.“Where do you want to go, Mr. Leonel?”
Leonel suddenly sat up and pointed at Ariella, who had just gotten into a taxi.
“Follow her!”
Ruth was shocked.“No, Mr. Leonel, you…”
“I don’t care. If you don’t do as I say, I’ll tell Dad you’re abusing me!”
Ruth’s face turned pale with fear.“Alright.”
The driver quickly followed the taxi Ariella had taken.
They thought Ariella was going home, but unexpectedly, the taxi went towards a more remote area.
Inside the car.
Raul looked curiously at the surroundings outside.“Mom, where are we going?”
Ariella glanced at the luxury car following them in the rearview mirror and sighed softly.
“I’m taking you to meet a new friend.”
“Is it your friend, Mom?”
“Yes, someone who has been with me for many years.”
As she finished speaking, the car stopped near a cemetery.
The place was deserted. When they walked up, Raul noticed they were being followed.
He felt a bit scared.
“Mom…”
Ariella remained calm, completely ignoring the people behind them.
“Don’t worry. Come, look, this is the friend I want to introduce to you.”
Raul thought it was a friend of his mother who had passed away, but his face froze when he saw it.

In front of him was a small tombstone with a photo of a dog.
In the photo, the dog was pure white with big, expressive eyes, sitting on the ground, looking incredibly cute.
