Chapter 23 It Was Never Such an Important Presence2
Stella asked, “Did she also live in the same hospital as me?”
“Yes, this is the closest hospital to the scene of the incident,” the traffic police paused and continued, “Currently, the vehicle owner insists that you hit her first. We are actively searching for eyewitnesses and other evidence. We will inform Ms. Sutton once we have any results.”
Stella politely said, “Excuse me.”
The traffic police quickly left.
As Stella watched the receding figure of the traffic police, her eyes grew darker.
She never believed that such coincidences could happen in the world.
She had a collision with someone, but unfortunately it was with Kaylyn.
Is she preparing to let Ethan choose one?
In another ward, Lorenzo whispered to Ethan, “The traffic police said that the other party doesn’t admit to hitting someone, and even claims that Ms. Greer hit someone… That area is too remote and there is no surveillance footage. If we wait for their investigation, it will probably take…”
Kaylyn, lying on the hospital bed, heard this and immediately showed a terrified expression on her face.
“That person rushed out like crazy, without slowing down at all. It was either drunk driving or
intentional murder…”
She spoke as she looked at her hand wrapped in a plaster cast, tears welling up in her eyes.
“I also wanted to hold a concert on the last day. But now, I don’t know if my hands would become useless…”
Ethan said lightly, “I had already found a medical team for you. Take good care of your injury, and I will handle this matter for you.”
Kaylyn shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes, and said, “That person must have used some connections to delete the surveillance footage… that’s why we can’t find any evidence. It seems like this matter will ultimately be left unresolved…”
“Don’t worry, I wouldn’t let you suffer from this matter.”

Kaylyn finally smiled through her tears. She knew that Ethan was not someone who made promises lightly; once he made one, he would definitely follow through.
A few minutes later, Lorenzo arrived in front of another ward.
He had already found out that the owner of the car that collided with Kaylyn lived in this ward.
Such matters, of course, did not fall within Ethan’s purview.
Lorenzo knocked on the door and entered the ward.
Ethan stood in the hallway and dialed Stella’s phone number again.
Just like yesterday, no one answered the call.
A trace of resentment inexplicably surged in Ethan’s heart.
Ethan was about to continue dialing when he saw Lorenzo walking out with a strange expression on his face.
Ethan paused for a moment, “How did you come out so quickly? The other party still refuses to admit it?”
Lorenzo cautiously glanced at him, hesitating to speak.
After a while, he finally uttered a single sentence.
“Mr. Dodson, you… you better go and see for yourself.”
Lorenzo was an extremely excellent assistant, and these small matters naturally couldn’t stump him.
Now, Lorenzo suggested that he personally go and take a look, it definitely wouldn’t be something trivial.
Ethan glanced at him and entered the ward by pushing the door.
He was taken aback when he saw the woman sitting in the hospital room.
“Stella, how did you end up here?”
Stella had already learned from Lorenzo about Ethan’s purpose.
She had no surprise at all when she saw Ethan coming.
Stella sat on the edge of the bed, her pretty face slightly pale, with a few scabbed wounds on her forehead.
Stella looked at the person who had arrived and said calmly, “Why am I here? Isn’t it obvious to Mr. Dodson? Mr. Dodson should know better than me why he came.”
Ethan’s gaze slightly narrowed, “The person who bumped into Kay… was it you?”
Stella lightly replied, “Yes.”

Chapter 23 It Was Never Such an Important Presence4
In an instant, Ethan understood everything.
His black pupils flickered like swaying candle flames, shimmering unpredictably.
He looked at her with a complex gaze, “When you called me yesterday, were you also in the car?”
Stella’s voice was gentle, and no emotions could be discerned.
“When you rescued Ms. Greer, my foot got stuck in the car, and I wanted to call you to help me get out too.”
As a result, he hung up the phone.
Even if he glanced in her direction for just a moment, he would notice her.
But he did not.
Not even a glance.
His heart and eyes were full of Kaylyn, not paying attention to anyone else. Disappointed, huh?
She had long lost her expectations for him, and there was no disappointment to speak of.
However, the feeling of being abandoned at a critical moment, when life and death are at stake, was absolutely terrible.
She never wanted to experience this feeling again in her life.
“Sorry,” Ethan said in a low voice, “I didn’t know you were at the scene.”
Stella smiled and said, “Yeah, you didn’t know I was at the scene, so you thought I was calling you for some trivial and unimportant matters. That’s why you could hang up my call without hesitation. Because…”
She looked into Ethan’s eyes and said, word by word, “I was never that important in your heart.” At this moment, any explanation seems to have become an excuse.
Ethan remained silent and did not speak.
Stella closed her eyes and when she opened them again, her gaze was clear and devoid of any
emotions.
“Mr. Dodson, what brings you here to see me? Just go ahead and tell me.”
Ethan suddenly remembered his purpose for coming to find Stella.
“Was it you… who hit Kay?”
