Chapter 4 Who Do You Think You Are?1
Joel pouted, “My lactose intolerant condition has greatly improved. Even the doctor said it’s fine to have a little once in a while. But Mom always wants to control me and make me listen to her.”
It was really odd to hear a five–year–old child say “control“.
Ethan was about to speak when his phone rang suddenly.
He answered, and Kaylyn’s voice came through, “Ethan, are you
“Yes.
“Is Ms. Sutton not home?”
Ethan paused for a moment.“What’s wrong?”
home yet?”
“Ethan, I think I just saw Ms. Sutton… She’s having dinner with a young man. They seem pretty close.*
Kaylyn hesitated before adding cautiously, “Did what happened earlier upset her again? Maybe you should talk to her and explain things, Ethan.”
Ethan’s eyes darkened.
So, Stella wasn’t home cooking dinner because she was out with another man.
His voice turned cold.“Where is she now?”
Kaylyn gave him the address.
Ethan said, “Got it,” and quickly hung up the phone.
At the restaurant, Brenden Oliver looked at Stella intently.
“Have you really made up your mind?”
Stella nodded.“The Midsummer Night Star‘ was custom–made for me by my mother, but I up for my family for five years.”

She sighed lightly, her expression wistful.
“And now?” Brenden asked in a deep voice.“If you return to performing, you’ll be busy all the time. You won’t have much time for your husband and son.”
Joel’s health is much better now,” Stella said, a hint of mockery in her eyes.“Besides, he doesn’t need me to take care of him anymore.”
“What about Ethan? Brenden pressed. “Will he agree to this?”
At the mention of Ethan’s name, Stella’s gaze turned cold.
“My decisions don’t require his approval.”
Brenden studied her for a moment before saying, “But he won’t be okay with you spending time

with me.”
“He doesn’t get a say.”
Stella’s expression softened with guilt as she remembered how she had distanced herself from Brenden because of Ethan’s disapproval.
“Brenden, I’m sorry.”
Brenden shook his head.“Ella, you don’t owe me an apology. I’m the one who should be sorry.

Now, Brenden had become a highly renowned violinist in the industry.
He was famous not just for his talent but also for his striking looks and melancholic charm. Brenden was a heartthrob, almost as famous as a top celebrity.
Although he was wealthy and famous, he was no match for someone like Ethan, a powerful businessman.
Stella said, “It’s not your fault. It’s my…”
Before she could finish, a soft voice interrupted from behind,“Ms. Sutton, what are you doing here?”
Stella turned to see Kaylyn, dressed in a white dress.
Running into someone she disliked twice in one day was just bad luck.
Stella replied coldly, “What does it have to do with you?”
Kaylyn smiled sweetly, “Don’t be upset, Ms. Sutton. I was just surprised. Ethan rarely comes home, so I thought you’d be there preparing dinner for him.”
Kaylyn’s tone was cheerful, her expression gentle, appearing as a sweet and innocent woman. In contrast, Stella seemed unapproachable and cold.
However, Stella heard the hidden provocation and mockery in Kaylyn’s words.
Stella looked up and saw the undisguised complacency in Kaylyn’s eyes before it faded away. She asked, “Why does Ethan rarely come home? Because you take up all his free time. Are you here pretending to be clueless?”
Kaylyn showed a panicked expression. She grabbed Stella’s hand, explaining urgently,“Ms. Sutton, listen to me. I didn’t mean…”
Before Kaylyn could finish her sentence, Stella interrupted, “If that’s not the case, then it means you don’t know where you stand.”
She withdrew her hand.“Ms. Greer, people without self–awareness are very annoying.”
“Oh!” However, Kaylyn let out a cry and stumbled backward.
Before Stella could react, a tall figure stepped forward and caught Kaylyn before she could fall. “Kaylyn, are you okay?”

Chapter 4 Who Do You Think You Are?3
Kaylyn turned pale, her eyes filling with tears as she looked at Ethan. She looked utterly pitiful as if she’d been deeply wronged.
“Ethan, I’m fine… Ms. Sutton didn’t mean to. Please don’t blame her, okay?”
Ethan’s eyes flickered slightly. Only then did he notice Stella beside him.
His brow furrowed, his voice chilling.
“Stella, apologize to Kaylyn.”
Similar incidents occurred more than once in the past.
If it were in the past, Stella would say anxiously, “It’s not me“, “I can explain“, “I didn’t do it“, “Believe me, okay?” and such.
But Ethan had never taken her side. He always made her apologize to Kaylyn.
If she refused, Ethan would give her the silent treatment–ignoring her calls, leaving her messages unanswered, not saying a word to her, or giving her a glance, acting as if she didn’t
exist.
Eventually, even Joel joined in, giving her the cold shoulder.
In the end, she always caved and apologized.
Thinking of this, Stella sneered coldly.“Why should I listen to you? Who do you think you are?”
Ethan was taken aback, almost thinking that he had misheard.
“What did you say?”
Stella looked at Ethan and said coldly, “When I cared about you, your words meant everything. Now that I don’t care, who do you think you are?”
Ethan finally understood what she meant.
In his memory, Stella had never spoken to him this way.
She had always been gentle and considerate.
She would leave the light on for him when he came home late, make him midnight snacks when he worked late in his study, and bring him hangover tea when he drank too much.
Even after Kaylyn returned, Stella had become less satisfactory.
But she had never been defiant or confrontational to him like this.
For some reason, Ethan felt a flicker of irritation.
Just at that moment, a childish voice suddenly sounded, “Mom, you taught me that if I do something wrong, I should apologize. So, since you did something wrong, shouldn’t you apologize to Kaylyn?”
