Chapter 67 Is Jasper That Perfect?

“Jasper?” Caden narrowed his eyes as his expression darkened. “Rosaline, are you doing this on purpose by abusing your authority for personal gain?
I knew it. Caden would react the moment I mentioned Jasper’s name.
Of course, I had already prepared myself to deal with his reaction when I chose Jasper.
Meeting his icy glare, I replied, “Caden, what kind of twisted thoughts are running through your head? Jasper was chosen by Mr. Collins. Isn’t it our job to meet the client’s demands? Besides, what’s wrong with Jasper? He’s got the looks, the physique, and the popularity. I think he’s the perfect fit.”
Caden’s handsome face twisted with anger.
He stood abruptly and his long legs closed the distance between us in a single step. “So, that’s why you like Jasper?”
I was taken aback by his words,
What nonsense was this? It’hen had I ever said I liked Jasper?
“Caden, we’re talking about work right now,” I said firmly, taking a step back to avoid this pointless argument. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll get going.”
Freya was ready to jump in if needed, but to my relief, Caden didn’t follow me out.
1 let out a breath of relief, silently hoping he’d stay in this rational state moving forward.
To avoid more awkward encounters with him, I decided to pull an all–nighter at the office.
As the night deepened, I was arranging the schedule for tomorrow’s rehearsal when my phone suddenly
rang.
I glanced at the screen. It was Grandpa calling.
I answered the phone quickly, “Grandpa.”
“Rosaline, my dear! Why haven’t you called me in so long? Are you doing okay?” Grandpa’s hearty voice boomed over the line.
Guilt swelled within me.
It was true. It had been a while since I’d reached out to him.
a smile.
“I’m fine, Grandpa. Just really busy lately!” I said with a
“Being busy is good.” Grandpa laughed heartily. “So, how’s the grandson–in–law I picked out for you? Not bad, right?”
“You mean Caden?” I pouted. “Grandpa, what were you thinking? Caden is petty, bad–tempered, moody, and he constantly bullies me.”

tone laced with amusement. “Rosaline, take your time with Caden. You’ll see that my choice is correct.
The line went dead with the sound of a chuckle, leaving me utterly speechless.
I wondered what was with Grandpa and his unwavering faith in Caden.
Caden’s mood swings made it hard for me to figure him out.
I couldn’t imagine being mated to someone so impredictable.
As I put my phone down, a shadow loomed in front of me. I looked up and was greeted by a tall, imposing figure.
Dressed in a sleek black suit that blended into the night, the man stood casually leaning against the wall. His shirt was unbuttoned at the collar, revealing a glimpse of his chiseled chest.
It was Caden.
I stared at him in surprise.
When had he gotten here?
Caden’s POV:
Petty, bad–tempered, moody, and a bully…
Is that really how Rosaline sees me?
To everyone else, I was the future Alpha of Eclipse Pack–a leader destined to reign over Rivemon and even the entire Werewolf Continent. A figure admired and revered.
However, I was nothing to Rosaline.
And Jasper was somehow perfect in her eyes.
“Caden, what are you doing here?” she asked, clearly startled to see me.
I was suddenly disinterested in pressing her further after looking at her face.
There was no point in asking. I would only get an answer I didn’t want to hear.
“Let’s go home,” I said flatly.
She shook her head almost immediately. “You go ahead. I still have work to do. I’m staying late tonight.”
That caught me off guard.
Rosaline was willing to work all night just to avoid me.
Does she hate me that much?
The thought irritated me, and I glanced at my watch. It was already midnight. “As your boss and fiancé, I’m ordering you to stop working and go home.”

I’d hoped to avoid Caden by staying late, but since he wasn’t leaving without me, there was no point in
staying.
It was raining outside.

Soon, I was lost in thoughts. I have been in Rivemon for almost a month now. Initially, I’d thought I’d go through the motions for three months as I promised Grandpa, keeping things strictly formal with Caden.
But somewhere along the way, things had veered off course. Caden’s actions had gone beyond our initial agreement. Sometimes, he was overbearing and impossible to reason with. Yet, at other times, he was thoughtful in ways that caught me off guard.
Like the time Stella turned into her wolf form and lunged at me. Caden hadn’t hesitated to protect me.
And tonight, he forced me to leave the office because he was worried I’d exhaust myself.
He was domineering, yes, but those rare moments of kindness were hard to ignore.
Why did he care?
Was it simply because I was his fiancée in name?
It didn’t make sense.
As Shadow Pack’s Alpha, I prided myself on being a good judge of character, but right now, I couldn’t figure our Caden at all.
I wondered what was going on in his mind.
Would I be able to walk away from all this in three months, as planned?
