Chapter 75 Shooting Oneself in the Foot
Annie’s POV
My heart pounded wildly,
Could Rosaline’s claims actually be true
No, it couldn’i be. There was no way such a magical substance existed. I’d never even heard of it
Rosaline must have made it up to trap me, trying to make me panic and slip up.
I couldn’t fall for it!
Finished
Taking a few deep breaths to steady myself, I forced my voice to remain calm as I faced Rosaline. “Rosaline, what nonsense are you spouting? There’s no such thing as magical as this special substance. You’re just making this up!”
Rosaline smirked coldly. “Just because you’re ignorant doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. If you’re truly innocent. then prove it. Let’s test it and see the truth. Or are you too scared to try?”
Grinding my teeth, I glared at her. “Who says I’m scared? I didn’t do anything, so why would I be afraid?”
I needed to stay calm and composed. I couldn’t let her rattle me into making a mistake.
“Good. If you’re willing, then let’s proceed,” Rosaline said, grabbing my arm and raising my hand high for everyone to see. She turned to the lighting technician. “Please, shine the lights on Annie’s dress buttons first, and then on her hands.”
The lighting technician hesitated as he glanced at Caden. Caden nodded expressionlessly and said, “Do as Rosaline says.
With
Caden’s approval, the technician walked over to the controls and switched on the lights.
A cold beam of light illuminated the buttons on my back.
The crowd gathered closer, and though I couldn’t see what they saw, the audible gasps told me it was something surprising.
Moments later, the light shifted to a warm hue, and this time, the crowd burst into murmurs of awe.
“So the buttons really do change color!” someone exclaimed.
Rosaline’s lips curved into a confident smile. “As you can see, the special coating on the diamond buttons
to different types of light, changing color to enhance the ‘Ice and Fire‘ theme.
“Alright, now please shine the lights on Annie’s hands,” Rosaline said, gripping my hands tightly as she addressed the technician.
My mind went blank and my hands trembled uncontrollably.
It turned out Rosaline was telling the truth. The buttons did have this special substance that changes color under different lights.
What am I going to do now?
Chapter 75 Shooting Oneself in the Foot
I tried to break free, but Rosaline’s grip was unyie
Her strength was shocking for a lowly Omega.
The cold beam of light shifted onto my hands. To my horror, my palms began to emit a faint white glow.
Amidst the astonished gazes of everyone present, Rosaline explained, “When Annie cut the button off in the fitting room, she came into contact with it. She tightly held the button and then threw it somewhere Therefore, Annie’s hands must have picked up some of that special substance, which reacts to the light”
At Rosaline’s signal, the technician switched to warm lighting, and the white glow on my hands gradually transformed into a vibrant red, like a magic trick unfolding before everyone’s eyes.
Everyone watched in shock as my hands changed.
I started to tremble.
Rosaline held my arm firmly, displaying my hands to everyone. “As you can all see, Annie’s hands are changing color just like the buttons on the dress she was wearing. This happened because she got that special substance on her hands when she cut the button.
“Now, I believe everyone here understands the truth of the situation”
The onlookers nodded in agreement.
“I can’t believe it’s Annie!”
“Why would she do something like this?”
“It’s true that you can never judge a book by its cover. Looks like she’s shot herself in the foot this time.”
Under the weight of their stares, I wished I could disappear into the ground.
Rosaline’s piercing gaze fixed on me. “With such undeniable evidence, do you still have anything to say?”
“No, this can’t be happening. This isn’t real,” I stammered, my voice trembling.
How could this happen?
I had devised a foolproof plan. How did Rosaline know so much? How did she find out about the substance on the
button?
“Rosaline, it must be you trying to frame me on purpose, right?” I shouted in desperation, unwilling to accept my fate.
“The best way to hide a misdeed is to not commit it. You must be prepared to face the consequences if you do something bad,” Rosaline smirked and released my hands.
I collapsed to the ground, feeling utterly defeated.
