Caden’s POV:
At my insistence, Wendy sped through multiple red lights, rushing toward the police station.

The car screeched to a halt just outside, and Yale, who had been waiting near the entrance, immediately approached.
“Where’s Rosaline?” I asked, scanning the area but not seeing her.
“She’s inside, giving her statement to the officers,” Yale replied.
I walked into the station’s lobby, and as soon as I entered, everyone turned their attention toward me.
It was something I was used to by now, my face and name well–known in Rivemon.
The police chief, Dominic Andrus, hurried down from the second floor and greeted me respectfully. “Mr. Holbrook, please follow me.”
Not bothering with small talk, I followed him to the door of the interrogation room. Inside, Rosaline sat with an air of calm confidence, a werewolf female officer seated across from her, taking down her statement.
“Rosaline,” I called gently, stepping inside, “are you okay?”
She looked up but didn’t meet my gaze. Instead, her eyes drifted to Wendy, who had followed behind me.
Rosaline’s expression shifted, her face hardening. She avoided my eyes. “What, are you hoping I’m not okay?” she retorted, her voice sharp with sarcasm.
I was momentarily taken aback.
I had rushed here, concerned for her, and this was her response?
Was she angry because I hadn’t kept my promise to go to Lover’s Lake?
If I had, maybe this whole mess could’ve been avoided.
I never would’ve let Rosaline go to such a secluded area alone or let any harm happen to her.
“That’s not what I meant,” I muttered, my voice soft.
Rosaline lowered her eyes, uninterested in hearing my explanation.
Feeling frustrated, I turned to the officer. “Officer, what’s the situation now?”
“I just finished taking her statement,” the officer answered, recognizing me.
I nodded, my expression serious. “So, my fiancée can leave now, right?”
Both Dominic and the officer froze in surprise. The revelation that Rosaline was my fiancée caught them off guard.
Dominic quickly recovered, nodding eagerly. “Of course, Mr. Holbrook. Don’t worry. We’ll handle everything and make sure Ms. Sinclair is taken care of.”

As Rosaline and I walked out of the room, we ran into Queenie, who was coming out of another room.
Upon seeing me, Queenie rushed over. “Caden, you’re here!”
I nodded in acknowledgment, but her face darkened as she pointed at Rosaline. “Caden, I saw it all! Rosaline pushed Stella into the lake at Lover’s Lake today. I was right there. How can you still stand by this murderer?”
Rosaline’s expression hardened, and she frowned. “Queenie, I’m here giving my statement just like you. Stop calling me a murderer. If you don’t, I’ll sue you for defamation.”
“What are you talking about?” Queenie shot back, “I saw it with my own eyes. How is that defamation?”
She turned to Dominic. “Why is she still free? She should be locked up for what she did to Stella!”
Dominic stood there, looking uncertain, his awkward smile doing little to ease the tension.
“Enough, Queenie. This is something for the police to sort out. Until the truth is clear, I don’t want to hear any more gossip about Rosaline,” I said firmly. I couldn’t let this continue–one was my fiancée, the other my cousin.

After Caden silenced Queenie, he reached out to grab my hand, but I immediately stepped back.
His surprised gaze followed me.
I looked at Wendy standing behind him, that sly smile on her face, and felt a surge of disgust.
What was this? A staged attempt to act like a couple?
“I don’t need your help. I’m meeting Jasper tonight,” I said coldly, already scanning the room for him.
After a quick look around, I spotted Jasper in the corner, talking on the phone.
I walked past Caden and Wendy, making my way toward him. “Jasper, I’m done here. Let’s go.”
Jasper, just finishing his call, looked up and seemed a little surprised when he saw me, but his face quickly lit up with a smile. “Sure.”
I nodded and followed him as he led the way out.
“Rosaline, try leaving and see what happens!” Caden’s cold voice rang out, blocking my path.
“Why wouldn’t I?” I replied, unfazed by his glare.

Ignoring Caden, I continued walking out with Jasper.
Caden’s POV:
I watched, fury rising within me, as Rosaline and Jasper walked out together.
How could she? In front of everyone, she was walking out with another man?
“Caden, let’s go home!”

Both Queenie and Wendy spoke at once.

I was too angry to deal with these two, so I turned to Yale. “Get the car ready. We’re going back to the office.”
I left them behind, following Yale to the car, but I noticed Rosaline getting into Jasper’s car just a short distance away.
The car started and headed toward the main road.
“Follow them,” I ordered.
Yale hesitated before reminding me, “Mr. Holbrook, you still have a high–level meeting tonight.”
“Cancel it,” I snapped.
