Chapter 140
Chapter 140
Lewis’s smile was faint, his eyes dark and deep, glimmering with a mesmerizing, light. Doris’s heart raced under his gaze.
“W–what suggestion?” Doris stumbled over her words, blinking twice, She was just curious about what he was thinking,
Lewis stared at Doris, swiftly removing his suit jacket. His long fingers gently touched the collar, and his fingertips unbuttoned the shirt’s top button. Doris froze, her pupils widening as she silently counted: one, two-
His smile grew more seductive, his fingers reaching for the third button–no one could resist that. Doris covered her eyes and turned away shyly. She could feel her face and ears burning,
Amidst her shyness, Lewis approached from behind, his fresh and pleasant scent following, lingering in her breath. “What are you doing?” Lewis’s deep voice reached her ears.
Doris felt the heat on her skin rise again. She took a step forward, distancing herself from him. “I–I’m not doing anything” She quickly shook her head in denial.
“Then why are you turning away and covering your eyes?” Lewis moved to stand in front of her.
“I can’t look,” Doris said honestly,
“Can’t look what?” Lewis asked her.
“I just can’t,” said Doris.
“Me?” Lewis was holding the shirt he had taken off. “Why? Are you afraid I’m not wearing anything? Or are you worried my body is too good and you can’t resist jumping on me?”
“What nonsense are you talking about? I wouldn’t.” Doris swallowed. “You–you suddenly took off your shirt. What are you doing?”
“I had to take it off after trying it on.” Lewis put the shirt down on the sofa.
“Isn’t there more clothes underneath?” Doris still covered her eyes, too scared to open them.
Lewis chuckled lightly, “Well, if you look, you’ll find out.”
He stood right in front of her, reaching to pull her hands down. She was startled by him, her hands pressing hard on her eyes, trying desperately to resist. But Lewis’s strength was much greater than hers, and he easily removed her hands from
her face.
Now that her hands weren’t blocking her eyes, she could only squeeze them shut even tighter, afraid to see something she shouldn’t. Lewis saw her like this and couldn’t help but laugh, “You dare kiss me, but you’re afraid to look at me? Doris, you’re really something.”
“That–that’s different.” Doris didn’t shame herself, only daring to kiss and bite him when she was drunk and not fully aware.
“If you don’t open your eyes, I’m going to kiss you.” Lewis threatened her, slowly leaning in closer.
Doris could already feel his warm breath, just inches from her face, a light tickle brushing against her skin. Now that she was fully sober, she didn’t dare challenge Lewis.
Suddenly, Doris had to open her eyes, but she couldn’t bring herself to look directly at him. When Lewis saw her open her eyes, he laughed out loud, his chest vibrating, and the sound was deep and full.
Doris listened to his hearty laughter, cautiously glancing at him from the corner of her eyes, only to see he was wearing a white T–shirt.

“You you have clothes on underneath?” Doris was surprised,
“What else would I have?” Lewis asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Then why did you go inside to change?” she asked. He could’ve just put it on instead of going to the bedroom. It made her think he had taken off his T–shirt to try on clothes.
“What’s wrong with that?” Lewis raised his finger and poked her forehead. “What’s going through your head? You want to see me without clothes, trying to take advantage of me?”
“I already closed my eyes, how could I take advantage of you?” Doris defended herself, then returned to the main topic. “What was the suggestion you were talking about?”
“I forgot.” Lewis turned around and walked toward the dining room.
Doris widened her eyes in disbelief, following him, asking, “Forgot?”
He was clearly messing with her. Lewis pulled out a chair and sat down. “Actually, I already gave you a chance.”
Doris sat across from him, confused. “What chance?”
Lewis didn’t say more, picking up the decanter and pouring red wine into the glass in front of him. “I’m hungry. Let’s eat.”
Doris watched the dark red liquid swirl in the glass, the wine catching her attention, and she let go of the earlier question.
Looking at the empty space in front of her, she got up and went to the kitchen to grab a wine glass. She placed it on the table, “Can I have some?”
Lewis gazed at her expectantly. “If you can’t handle your alcohol, don’t drink.”
“Just a little bit.” Doris didn’t have many hobbies, but she liked to drink a little red wine. “I promise I won’t bite. If I do, you can just knock me out.”
She was the type who was bad at drinking but loved it anyway.
“That’s your word.” Lewis finally picked up the decanter and poured some wine for her.
The wine flowed like a flower, captivating Doris’s gaze. Lewis only poured about an inch of wine into her glass, “That’s enough, no more.”
“Mm.” Doris nodded obediently.
Lewis glanced at her, lifting the glass toward her. “Thank you for the clothes you bought me. I really like them.”
“It was a gift. You don’t need to thank me.” Doris felt a little embarrassed.
Lewis and Doris clinked their glasses lightly, each taking a sip before starting to eat.
“This is really good,” Doris said, praising the beef brisket after taking a bite.
“If it’s good, eat more,” Lewis said, adding a few more pieces to her bowl.
Drinking a little wine, nibbling on some meat, Doris was very content. Her cheeks puffed out like a greedy little guinea looking adorable. Everything Lewis did was naturally elegant.
“Ring, ring, ring- Lewis’s phone on the table began to ring. He picked it up. “I’m going to take a call.”
He walked into the living room. Outside the floor–to–ceiling windows, he spoke in perfect Velantrian, and with his rich voice, it sounded very pleasant.

The call lasted for half an hour. When Lewis finished, he turned and returned to the dining room. Doris was tilting her head back, drinking the last sip of wine from her glass. Lewis’s peripheral vision already caught sight of the decanter on the table.
‘She’s really something he thought. I just took a call, and she drank almost all the wine herself.
He picked up his wine glass, drank the wine from his glass, and placed it back on the table. “Doris-” “Don’t–don’t be mad,” Doris said, standing up, supporting herself on the table. “I left you a little.” “Thank you” Lewis looked at her hazy eyes and knew she had probably drunk most of it already.
“No need to thank me, Doris smiled and lightly patted his shoulder.
Lewis really wanted to knock her out and throw her out. She always said things she didn’t mean, never aware of it. What worried him was that outside, when drinking with others, she might have no self–control and end up getting hurt.
He chuckled coldly–and swatted her hand away. Doris lost her balance and fell right into Lewis’s arms.
