As my voice rang out in a solemn chant, the black wolf’s fur began to shimmer faintly. Her anguished howls echoed through the space.
The connection she once had with the Eclipse Pack shattered completely.
I didn’t kill her, instead, I demoted her to become Rogue, severing her ties to any pack. Leaving her alive was already a mercy far beyond what she deserved.
Stella transformed back to her human form, collapsing onto the floor. Her face was twisted with fury and disbelief as she roared, “Caden, why? Why do you treat Rosaline so well? She’s nothing but a b*tch! Mark my words, one day, she’ll destroy you!”
Even now, she showed not an ounce of regret in her voice.
The werewolf warrior arrived soon after, swiftly escorting Stella out of the room.
Everything that happened here had been live–streamed. Public opinion on the Internet had completely reversed.
At last, Rosaline was free.
“Rosaline, are you alright?” Jasper asked, his voice tinged with concern. When Stella attempted to attack Rosaline earlier, he turned into his wolf form, but it was too late in comparison to me.
“She’s alright,” I said, stepping forward to wrap my arm around Rosaline’s shoulders. My cold gaze met his, sharp and unyielding.
-Rosaline gently pushed me away and murmured, “Thank you for earlier.”
I lifted an eyebrow. “No need to thank me.”
Caden, have you lost your mind? That was so dangerous! What if Stella had bitten you?” Queenie stormed over, shoving Rosaline aside to plant herself firmly by my side.
Rosaline’s expression darkened, her usual calm now tinged with frost. She stared Queenie down and said sharply, “Queenie, weren’t you the one who kept insisting you saw me push Stella into the water? What explanation do you have now?”
Queenie froze for a moment, biting her lip as a flicker of unease crossed her face. “Maybe … maybe I was mistaken,” she muttered.
“Mistaken?” Rosaline let out a cold laugh, her voice cutting. “You and your classmates both saw it wrong? If I remember correctly, giving false testimony is a crime. At best, you’d be detained. At worst…”
“You’re making things up! I just misremembered, that’s all!” Queenie protested, her tone defensive as she turned her pleading eyes to me. “Caden, say something for me!”
However, I had no intention of humoring her. Ignoring her entirely, I took Rosaline’s hand and “Let’s go.”
aply said,
The crowd made way for us without a word. Hand in hand, we walked past Queenie’s resentful gaze, leaving the hospital room behind.

today. I didn’t think you’d confront Stella head–on at the hospital.”
Rosaline chuckled lightly. “What? Do I look like someone easy to bully?”
I smiled and shook my head. “Not at all.”
Rosaline’s POV:
“Thank you… for earlier.” My voice came hesitantly as I glanced at him.

I hadn’t expected Caden to show up at the hospital, let alone step in to save me in that situation. Such a close range was indeed a bit dangerous.
Furthermore, he’d managed to dig up that essential video, the one that left Stella with no room to defend herself. Even Anthony hadn’t been able to uncover it, but Caden had. He must’ve gone to great lengths to find it.
It was impossible not to feel a flicker of gratitude. But still… it felt like my ties with him were growing a little too entangled.
“I told you that I’ll protect you,” Caden said, his cool, magnetic voice brushing against my ear.
His tone was calm yet carried a faint, alluring charm that made my heart skip a beat. Subconsciously, I leaned a little to the side, trying to put some space between us.
My reaction made him fall silent. His expression turned colder.
The air in the elevator grew tense, the kind of silence that weighed heavily between two people.
I pressed my lips together, shifting my gaze to the floor. I refused to meet his eyes.
Just then, my phone suddenly rang.
The name on the screen made my chest tighten. Grandpa was calling.
I quickly picked up. “Grandpa? Why are you suddenly calling?”
On the other end of the line, Grandpa’s hearty laughter boomed. “I saw everything on the news today, my dear. That Caden boy isn’t bad at all! He knows how to protect you.”
I froze, a flush of embarrassment creeping up my neck. In such a cramped elevator, Grandpa’s voice was loud enough that Caden must have heard every word.
Grandpa didn’t stop there. “You’ve been around him for nearly a month now, haven’t you? How are things going? When can Grandpa expect to attend your wedding banquet?”
“Oh, Grandpa, what are you even talking about?” I could’ve melted into the elevator walls from sheer embarrassment. Hanging up seemed like the most viable escape route at that moment.
“I’m serious! The Holbrooks‘ young master has the looks, the brains, the competence, and the responsibility. He’s more than worthy of my precious granddaughter.” Hubert seemed very satisfied with Ca
“Grandpa, I have things to do. Let’s talk later!” I blurted, my words tumbling out in a rush as I caught the faint sound of Caden chuckling softly beside me. I hurriedly ended the call.
“Your grandpa has a much better eye for people than you do,” Caden said, the corner of his mouth quirking

I shot him an exasperated glare. “Narcissist.”
