Chapter 9
Chapter 9
One might have thought that Daniel would move on.
That he would start over, meet someone new, build a new family.
I only wished for one thing.
That he would take care of Jack.
That he wouldn’t let him suffer.
That he wouldn’t let him be bullied.
But Daniel never did.
Countless socialites and heiresses lined up to marry him.
He rejected them all.
He stopped going to work.
Within two months, his company plummeted.
And he didn’t care.
Instead, he spent his days in the private estate villa.
The once–manicured gardens had become overgrown with weeds.
But he didn’t hire anyone to clean it.
Instead, he rolled up his sleeves and pulled them out himself.
The once–grand furniture was covered in dust.
But he didn’t complain.
Instead, he wiped it clean, inch by inch.
“Chloe, when you were locked up here alone… did you hate me?”
“You must have been so disappointed in me.”

The Deceased Marriage
He let out a self–mocking laugh.
Six months passed.
Instead of getting better. Daniel only got worse.
He took my old clothes, wandered the streets, and asked strangers-
“Bare you seen my wife?”
“Her name is Chloe.”
“She looks like an angel
People looked at him as if he were insane.
They avoided him.
Finally, his assistant took him to see a psychiatrist.
That was when they learned-
Daniel had lost his mind.
He had become completely obsessed.
My parents heard about his condition and immediately took Jack away.
They raised him themselves.
I was relieved.
Daniel built me a grander, more beautiful grave.
He visited constantly.
He even brought me my favorite desserts–chocolate croissant.
Eventually, he stopped leaving.
He would simply lie down beside my grave and fall asleep.
Then, his company collapsed.
He fell into debt.
Deceased Marriage

Bill collectors hounded him.
He became a fugitive, constantly on the run.
And so, he turned to drinking.
He became just like the drunkard who had once guarded my grave.
Even when he was completely wasted, he still came to visit me.
But lately-
He had stopped coming.
Rumors spread.
A passerby mentioned-
He had probably died, somewhere on the streets.
As for Chloe,She was reborn into a new family, named Rebecca.
But this time, the new life was also quite tough.
Originally, she had been born into an ordinary family, with loving parents, and they lived a happy life together.
But then, life took a cruel turn.
Her mother died in a car accident when she was still very young, and her father remarried soon after.
Her stepmother was harsh and unforgiving, and she had a daughter–Rebecca’s malicious stepsister, also
named Chloe.
Due to her exceptionally beautiful appearance, Rebecca was often targeted by her stepsister, who looked at her with contempt and found every opportunity to make her life difficult.
One day, Rebecca’s stepmother forced her to attend a waitress interview at a bar.
The men conducting the interview were a group of lecherous middle–aged men who pressured her into drinking and even attempted to assault her.
Desperate, Rebecca fought back with all her strength and tried to escape, but several tall men after her relentlessly.
“Fuck this shit!” she muttered, realizing she was about to be trapped with nowhere to go.
