Chapter 149
Chapter 149
Fiona POV
I wake up the next morning, feeling refreshed, although slightly put out to find the spot beside me in the bed is empty. I feel slightly forlorn, giving a huge sigh before reluctantly climbing out and heading to the bathroom in order to get myself ready for the day. I make my way downstairs, eyeing everybody with curiosity, and head directly for the kitchen. To my relief, there is nobody there. I quickly have my coffee and food before heading out to find Liam, my wayward mate.
“Have you seen my mate at all?” I ask an omega who happens to be passing me and she smiles at me.
“Do you mean Alpha Liam? He’s out on the training grounds. Just head east” she directed, pointing in the general direction as she waved a dismissive hand at the front door, intent on getting back to her chores.
Training? Was he training the warriors or was he training himself? I’m intrigued, heading outside and taking a deep inhalation of the sweet, refreshing air outside before walking steadily toward where I suspected the training ring was. Soon enough I found it and I watched in awe as Liam took down his opponent, sending them sprawling to the ground as he pumped his fist in the air in victory. He had made that look easy. The one on the ground scowled, looking sulky. He looked as though he was on the verge of declaring a rematch but had the wise sense not to.
My god. I had thought my mate was handsome before but now he was downright sexy. He had stripped off to just his pants and I could see his taut abdomen and his six–pack. His skin was gleaming with sweat and I could see several women eyeing him hungrily, making me feel slightly jealous. I had never felt this possessive before but now I was feeling more than protective of my mate, I was now feeling rage kindle up inside me as I stared at those women, willing them to back away
and leave my mate the hell alone.
“Good job,” Liam bent down to his opponent and helped him back up, dusting the young man off as his cheeks turned red in humiliation. “A little bit more work and you’ll soon be a formidable warrior” he added with a knowing expression on his face.
This seemed to reassure the young man because his face brightened and he no longer looked as petulant as he shook the Alpha’s hand accepting his defeat.
“Isn’t he just yummy?” a voice murmured beside me and I turned in surprise to see a woman standing there who I hadn’t seen before.
She was quite beautiful. I hoped she wasn’t one of Liam’s ex–girlfriends but my instincts told me she wasn’t I nodded at her.
“I’m Autumn” she introduced herself to me, shaking my hand, “and you must be Fiona, our future Luna. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
She was respectful and her tone was quite melodic. She seemed sweet.
I instantly liked her on sight. I smiled at her and then I coughed. “Yes, but you didn’t hear that from me,” I answered her question in a low whisper as her eyes twinkled in delight.
She grinned. “I knew I liked you. How did your first night go with our infamous Alpha? Did you ahem..” she made a g and I knew exactly what she was trying to ask.
It was a bit forward of her, wasn’t it? Still I couldn’t help the grin that appeared on my face. It was exactly like being back in highschool and gossiping about our crushes. I couldn’t help but want to continue speaking with her.
“We just slept together not the other…..” I trailed off blushing.
It wasn’t really any of her business but why did I blush every time I thought about doing the act with my mate? It was normal for the relationship to proceed in that direction.
“Yes, I just won twenty bucks” she cried out loudly, fist–pumping the air as I stared at her in shock.

Chapter 149
“Did you make a bet with somebody whether we would have sex?” I asked somewhat indignantly.
It was amusing though, I did have to admit, and exactly like something a male would do with his mates. It surprised me that Autumn had done so but then, Autumn seemed to be anything but your average woman.
“Don’t be offended. I simply figured you would have the common sense to want to get to know the Alpha, unlike a lot of the tarts here. You seem intelligent, I figured the bet was a risk worth taking,” she shrugged looking nonchalant as though she hadn’t just insulted a large group of females in the pack.
I laughed. I couldn’t help it. She sounded so disparaging about the females eyeing off my mate. She smirked at me. We both turned when we heard Alpha Liam’s voice calling for her.
“Autumn why don’t you get in the ring and spar off with this one,” he clapped a hand on another warrior a male and I could see from the scowl on the man’s face that he wasn’t happy about having to square off with a woman.
“Don’t worry the new ones always look like that when they get put with a woman. A lot of them think a woman isn’t capable of defending herself. Idiot” she exhaled and shook her head, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
I smiled and watched her head to the ring without hesitation. I moved closer and stood beside Liam who was standing just outside the training ring, keeping a close watch on the fight as he made a signal for Autumn to start.
The two in the ring began to go at it. My mouth dropped open with how agile and quick Autumn was in her human form. The two of them were fighting so quickly that they were practically blurred as they continued their fight in the ring. She easily managed to outmaneuver her opponent, taking him down with a solid uppercut to the jaw which sent him falling hard to the ground.
My mouth dropped open. “She’s impressive” I breathed.
More than impressive. I hadn’t seen many women able to fight like that, at least not in my old pack. This woman was strong and even though her opponent looked as though he could easily bend her in half like a twig, she had managed to beat him with relative ease. It was magnificent.
“Yep. One of our strongest warriors in this pack. I want you to take note. Even though you might not have a wolf, you are still capable of being able to defend yourself. I want you to watch these people in action and the women in particular. In my pack, women are just as formidable as the men are. Some are stronger than the men as hard as it is to believe. I want you to start training as soon as you feel comfortable. As much as I want to be the one to protect you,” he turns to me, his eyes solemn, “I can’t be with you every hour of the day and I want some solace knowing you can fend off an attacker. Is this okay?” he asked although it was more out of obligation, I thought, than genuinely asking me.
Was it okay? It was more than okay with me. I wanted this. I wanted somebody to believe in me instead of considering myself a burden. I wanted to prove that I was worth something and not just some inconvenience. My mate was providing me with all my wishes and he did not even know it. I had some training experience back home but this was a whole different experience and these were well–trained warriors who had no compunctions fighting an Alpha’s daughter. This was heaven. He had no idea how happy he had just made me. All without even trying.
“It’s better than okay,” I beamed at him, “I think it’s a wonderful idea.”
I wanted to be just as strong and as capable as Autumn had just proven to be. I didn’t have to continue not if I could pick up the training and make something out of myself.
ng a weak human,
Autumn came springing back to us, a wide grin on her face. “I heard that Fiona, and you might be eating those words” she teased me and then turned to Alpha Liam, baring her neck in respect. “May I help train her? I think she would benefit from my expertise” she purred “and you don’t want to hurt your own mate now do you, Alpha Liam.”
He looked a little stunned by the request. I wondered if Autumn made a habit out of helping other women or if I was a special case. Judging by the expression on his face, I suspected the latter.
Train with Autumn who had just kicked ass on the training fields? Count me in!
