At first, I assumed that someone had deliberately used fake Ice and Fire jewelry to sabotage Eclipse Group. But as the investigation progressed, it became clear that the problem lay within our own Ice and Fire products.
“Do we know why these pieces contain radioactive elements?” Caden asked, flipping through the papers in his hands, his voice sharp and focused.
Yale shook his head. “Not yet. But there’s something strange. All the defective pieces came from Fostrau, and they trace back to a Fostrau factory.”
I paused to think, then grabbed my phone to call the inspector handling Fostrau’s products. “Rosaline here. Have we got any test results yet?”
“Ms. Sinclair, yes. I’ve arranged for the testing, and the results should be ready soon,” the voice on the other end replied.
“Let me know immediately once you have them.”
“Of course, no problem!”
Thung up and turned to Caden. “It’s likely that the issue started at Fostrau. But it could also be a
coincidence–maybe these pieces were made there, and then someone altered them to frame us.”
Before Caden could respond, the door to the office swung open, and Eleanor stormed in, with Queenie
close behind.
“Mom, what are you doing here?” Caden’s brow furrowed.
Without a word, Eleanor walked straight to me and slammed a stack of newspapers onto the desk.
“Rosaline, look at this!”
The headlines screamed about Ice and Fire jewelry containing radioactive materials.
I sat up straight. “Eleanor, we’re already discussing this issue.”
“Discussing?” Eleanor sneered, sarcasm dripping from her voice. “Rosaline, I’ve told you before–you’re a walking disaster. This mess is because of you. You’ve caused Eclipse Group all this trouble, and you still have the nerve to stay here?”
From the way Eleanor spoke, it was clear she wasn’t concerned about Eclipse Group’s reputation; she just wanted to use this as an excuse to get rid of me.
I shot back, “Eleanor, the investigation isn’t even finished yet. The truth is still unknown, and you’re already jumping to conclusions. Isn’t that a bit rash?”
Eleanor’s eyes narrowed. “You’re the one in charge of Ice and Fire, right? Now it’s causing problems. Doesn’t that make it your responsibility?”
Queenie chimed in. “Aunt Eleanor’s right. Rosaline, if you have any decency left, you should resign. Don’t wait for them to fire you–save some dignity.”

Eleanor’s face drained of color. Realizing she had no answer to that, she turned to Caden. “Caden, look at her! You have to fire Rosaline today!”
“Mom, stay out of this. I’ll handle the company,” Caden said, his patience running out. He loosened his tie, stood up, and walked to the door. He opened it and said firmly, “We need to continue the meeting. You and Queenie can go now.”
“Aunt Eleanor’s just looking out for you, Caden.” Queene said, frustration clear in her voice. “Rosaline’s messing everything up. If she keeps this up, she’ll destroy Eclipse Group.”
Caden shot Queenie a sharp look. “Queenie, just because we come from the same pack, it doesn’t mean you can speak to me like that.”
Her words hit hard. Queenie went pale, realizing she had crossed a line. She clamped her mouth shut, not daring to say another word.
“If you let Rosaline stay at Eclipse, Caden, you’ll regret it.” Eleanor’s voice rang out, angry and stern. She shot a final glare at him before pulling Queenie out of the room.
Once the door closed behind them, Caden let out a sigh and turned to me, offering a look of apology. “Don’t take it personally. My mom is always like that.”
I smiled softly, shaking my head. “I know. It’s fine.”
Just then, the phone rang. It was the inspector from Fostrau.
I picked up immediately. “Any updates?”
“Ms. Sinclair,” the inspector’s voice came through clear, we’ve tested all the products from Fostrau’s factory. Some of them contain radioactive materials,”
My heart skipped a beat, but I kept my tone steady. “I see. Thank you.”
I hung up and turned to Caden. “The tests are complete. It’s definitely a problem fróm Fostrau’s factory.”
“Fostrau’s factory?” Caden’s expression darkened, concern creeping into his features.
“Yeah.” I nodded, frowning. “The results came in. Some of their products do contain radioactive elements.”
Caden massaged his temples, his voice low and controlled. “We’ve overlooked Fostrau’s factory in the past. It looks like someone took advantage of that.”
