“I’m calling it,” Hugo declared excitedly, watching Miranda’s perfect aim. “From now on, Miranda is my idol!”
That night, Hugo posted an update on social media.
“Met a soft–hearted deity.”
The comments were filled with question marks.
His friends in the circle was bewildered, curious about Hugo’s cryptic post.
The news spread like wildfire among the socialites, but no one had a clue what these heirs were up to.
“Don’t pay them much attention,” Elian said coolly, clearly referring to them. “They’re old enough to think for themselves by now.”
Elian’s car was parked outside Miranda’s house.
Miranda chuckled. “I actually find them quite charming.”
Meanwhile, their WhatsApp group was buzzing with excitement.
“What’s so charming about them?” Elian frowned.
Miranda hadn’t replied yet.
“Do you really find them charming?” Elian pressed on.
Miranda kept silent.
“Why aren’t you saying anything? Do you like them?” Elian’s tone was urgent, though he maintained a facade of calm.
Miranda began, “Well.” She hesitated, choosing her words carefully..
Elian asked, “What does ‘well‘ mean? Are you admitting it?”
Miranda’s reticence made Elian realize his own slip, and he turned his head away.

“I’m not jealous. I know I have no right to be. You haven’t given me any claim, so why should I be jealous?”
Miranda was bewildered.
“I know you didn’t take it seriously when I called you my wifey.
You didn’t care when I kissed you or
when I held you.”
He was staring straight ahead, sounding more and more dejected.
When Miranda didn’t respond, Elian admitted, “Alright, fine, I am jealous, Miranda, I…”
As he turned to face her, Miranda’s hand reached out to touch his forehead.
He paused.
“No fever,” Miranda mused, looking at him quizzically. “Why are you talking nonsense?”
Elian grabbed her hand like a grumpy puppy, his face a picture of mock indignation, “Miranda!” Miranda used her other hand to gently scratch Elian’s chin, bursting into laughter. “Are you mad?”
The affectionate gesture hit Elian right in the heart.
He melted instantly.
Despite his effort to keep a straight face, a smile crept up on him, impossible to suppress. His voice softened, though he tried to deny it. “No, I’m not mad, I would never be mad.”
The words of denial carried a tender, playful undertone.
