Chapter 142 

Maddox 

Seeing the paint on the clothes, reminds me of the day Rico walked in to the living–room in light pink clothing. Gina and Elsa had gotten into a laughing fit, which had only pissed him off even more. 

None of us needed to ask who was responsible for it, because there was only one person that would do it and would be able to get away with it. Julian walked in and when he saw Rico his jaw dropped “What the hell did you do?” He asked Rico, even though we knew he already knew the answer. 

Movement near the tree line pulls me out of the memory and I focus on the situation at hand. I see the Wolves are out of the forest, they close in on Grace and she turns around to face them.

“Alpha Maddox and his pack are the ones that killed your Alpha and they will pay for it with their life. Kill any Wolf or Human you come across, no matter what Pack they are from. You will get your revenge.” She speaks loud and clear to the men and Wolves, they all nod their heads and I realize they are hoping to surprise us with this attack. 

She turns around and starts walking towards the border the men and Wolves following her. As soon as they cross the border, we get out of our hiding places and surround them. 

“I am right here.” I say and Grace stops. Looking at me, she starts to smile and Cole lets out a loud growl, “Oh, Babe. Why do you react that way? We used to have fun together, remember.” 

I look her dead in the eye and ask “Are you delusional, Grace?” Her face contorts and then she looks at Dagmar. And I can tell by the smirk on her face that there is something I don’t remember. 

“He will never be yours, little girl. He is mine, he has always been mine.” Dagmar and I look at each other and then Dagmar shrugs her shoulders. Through the mind–link we hear that the Evil Moon Pack is fully surrounded and that everyone is in position. 

“Don’t you remember the nights we spend together, after Gina died?” Grace asks me and truth be told I don’t remember, but then again the first few weeks are a daze. 

It is Rico that answers her “Of course he does not remember, but I also know he never spend one night with you. We never let him out of our sights after Gina died. 

We knew what that loss could do to him. And besides that, his focus was on comforting Dagmar. So quiet playing games, 

Bitch.” I can hear in his voice that he is telling the truth and I can feel Dagmar relaxing- 

But I can’t understand why she sounded so convinced when she said those words and I say this through the mind–link, because I want them to help me understand. James is the one to answer “Elsa saw her sneaking in to your room a few times, while you were with Dagmar. 

We don’t know what she was doing in there, but she was always gone in the morning when I would walk you back to your room.”

Looking at the woman, I once considered my second Mom, all I feel is hatred. I can see that the men that are with her are becoming restless and I tell my Pack to get ready.

But training with Maddox all these years has prepared me for this. Maddox would make us train in teams, to make sure we would always have the others back. 

At first I had hated the method, but the more we trained in teams, the more I understood why. I knew, from every member in my Squad, what their strength and weakness was and they knew mine. 

Fighting in teams made it easier to take down an enemy Warrior and right know we were all benefitting from that training. Maddox shouts through the mind–link that he wants Grace alive, that he has a few questions for her.

I know I have a few of my own for her, so Emma and I don’t disagree with him on this. While fighting off a Wolf, I realize that I am better at pushing him away than normally. 

It seems as if I have more strength in my arms, but it doesn’t make sense to me and I push the thought aside. Maddox and I keep our backs towards the other and keep circling, taking our enemies down. 

As we are tossing aside wounded Wolves and men, I see from the corner of my eyes that they are dealt. with by the Warriors and little by little their number subsides. 

I can tell I have a few bruises and scrapes, but that is all I have trained with Lycans most of my life and they are stronger and tougher than Wolves, but still it surprises me that I have no bigger wounds. 

A huge guy charges at me and for a second I fear this is a fight I might not win. He lunges at me and grabs my legs on his way to the ground. My back slams in to the ground, blowing the wind out of my lungs for second. 

I manage to free one of my legs and aim for his head, unfortunately I connect with his shoulder. He tries to get hold of my leg again, but I make sure it is out of his reach. Turning my body, I am able to free myself completely and without a thought I jump on his back. With both hands I grab his face and I snap his neck.
