Chapter 221

Izzy’s POV.

Finished

Last night as Jordan and I had talked about the fire, I decided not to tell him I had been here that day.

I knock on the door and wait for Alpha Maddox to respond. Instead of telling me to come in, he opens the door for me and asks me to come in side.

“Izzy, what can I do for you?” He asks and I don’t waste time. I tell him about my conversation with Jordan and what I remember from that day. His eyes glaze over and I know he is linking someone.

A few minutes later there is a knock on the door and he tells the person on the other side to come in. The door opens and a Warrior walks in, I recognize him as a Warrior named Malik that tried out for my Squad and failed.

“You wanted to see me, Alpha Maddox.” I recognize the voice and my eyes lock with those of Alpha Maddox. He understands immediately that this was the person that set fire to the cottage.

“Yes, but we are still waiting on a few people.” He responds and through the mind–link I excuses myself – after assuring him that I will be back soon.

I rush out of the room and head back to my Father’s Suite, I know exactly what I need and where I can find

Alpha Maddox’s POV.

Izzy’s story will finally mean justice for Jordan, but I don’t understand why she has to leave at this

moment.

After she leaves, Jordan, Rico and James walk in and I see confused looks on all of their faces. I tell them that we are not complete yet and ask them to take a seat

I have also asked Malik to get his Mother in here, so she can finally hear what an asshole her Son is. I have always suspected him to be guilty of some minor crimes, but his friend had always been his alibi.

The type of crimes I always connected to Malik stopped after his friend died and that made me even more suspicious of him.

Ten minutes later Izzy links me and tells me to proceed. I have no idea what is going on, but I decide to see where this is leading to.

“Malik, I have asked you these questions before, but something has been brought to my attention today and for that reason I have to ask them again.

On the day that Jordan’s cottage burned down, you were seen near the scene. You stated that you did not set the fire and you had a friend to confirm this. However, your friend can no longer be questioned on the matter, seeing the fact that he died a few years ago. Did you set fire to the cottage in question?” I ask.

He tells me the same thing he did the first time I questioned him. After he finishes speaking, there is a knock on the door and immediately Izzy walks in. “Sorry, Alpha Maddox. I came as fast as I could.” She mumbles as she enters the room.

She sits down next to Jordan, puts her back–pack on the floor and tells me to continue. Through the mind-

“You…” He doesn’t get the chance to say anything more, because Izzy is standing in front of him. “Sorry, Alpha Maddox, but I didn’t tell you the whole story about that day.””

Izzy starts telling about that day and when Malik realizes she was inside, he starts to panic. Because he understands that if she hadn’t been able to get away, it would have been worse.

“And why would anyone believe you were there?” His Mother asks. Izzy walks back to the couch and opens her back–pack. Everyone, except for Jordan, can see what she is holding.

“Jordan, do you recognize this?” She asks as she holds the album in front of him. His eyes start to water as he reaches out and whispers “I thought I had lost everything.”

I ask Jordan to turn the album around and I point out to everyone the emblem on the cover and I know that everyone recognizes Jordan’s family emblem.

I call in John and tell him to take Malik to the dungeons. I thank Izzy for putting this case to an end.

Jordan’s POV

I have to reign in Nero, because he is out for blood. We both know that Malik was responsible for the fire. but there was no proof. As Izzy sits down next to me, Nero calms down a bit.

After Alpha Maddox asks Malik how he knew the place had not been visited in ages, Nero becomes agitated. But Izzy is up in his face fast and Rico and James have to hold me back, when we realize we could have lost Izzy back then.

She tells us through the mind–link to sit down and reluctantly we comply. She gets something from her back–pack, but I can’t see what it is.

She turns towards me and when I see what she is holding, my eyes start to water and I have to push back. the tears that want to escape. I turn the album so everyone can see the family emblem on the cover.

I open the album and put it on my lap. On the first page is a picture of my parents with me and Jayce. And this time I can’t stop the tears from falling-

Izzy holds me as the tears fall, they fall for the loss of my parents, the loss of my Brother and the time I lost with Izzy. It takes a while for I can get myself back together.
