Everyone turned to look at the door. Lawrence stood there, his Alpha aura so powerful that everyone in the room instinctively lowered their heads.
He walked straight toward me, easily shaking off Brian’s hand that had been gripping my arm. “Let go of her.”
Then he turned to me, his voice softening instantly. “Are you okay?”

I shook my head, and as he pulled me close, the tension in my shoulders finally eased. For the first time that evening. I felt safe.
He protectively wrapped his arm around me and coldly glared at Brian. “What do you think you’re doing, touching my future Luna and spouting nonsense? Our wedding is none of your business. Margaret can have whatever she wants–pearls, diamonds, even the moon. The moment you chose someone else, your opinion stopped mattering.”
A dangerous smile curled on his lips as his gaze swept to Nora.
“As her ex, maybe you should focus on keeping your current… distraction happy. She looks rather jealous of all the attention you’re giving another Alpha’s Luna.”
Nora stood frozen, tears brimming in her eyes.
Brian’s face turned pale with fury, but Lawrence’s alpha aura is stronger than his, he dared not speak out of turn. “Maybe you’ve got it wrong, Lawrence. Margaret’s always been my mate.” He reached out to grab me, but Lawrence easily blocked him.
The room fell silent. Even Brian’s most outspoken supporters suddenly found their wine glasses incredibly interesting.
But Brian wouldn’t back down. His voice seethed in my mind. “Margaret, you’ve gone too far this time. You had another Alpha play along in this little show of yours? Fine, you’ve got what you wanted. The engagement ceremony is next week, no more delays. Satisfied?”
I didn’t even look at him. Lawrence held me tighter and wordlessly led me toward the door.
In the car, I finally let out the breath I’d been holding. “Thank you. How did you know you’d find me
here?”

He chuckled softly. “As an Alpha, I have my ways. Brian’s little reunion with his first love at the airport, all that drama was everywhere on social media. It wasn’t hard to guess where things would -go from there.”
Brian’s voice kept pounding in my mind:
“You came here to stir up trouble and make me and Nora look bad, didn’t you?”
“You’ve completely misunderstood my relationship with Nora! Don’t make everything so dramatic.”
“Nora’s crying, thinking this is all her fault. Go back and tell her you’re not mad at her!”
“Where are you? Nora’s really upset. She wants to go stay at a hotel Come clean up your mess!”
My chest tightened, but I shut off the mind link. I’d had enough of being manipulated by him.
That night, I stayed at my own apartment. The next morning. I went to what should have been our home to collect my remaining things. Most of my belongings had already been packed, including my plants, which had been moved outside. Only one suitcase remained.
As I opened the door, I heard Nora’s voice from upstairs. “Brian, these pancakes are so good! I’ve missed your cooking.”
“Just stay here,” Brian replied gently. “I’ll make them for you every morning.”
“But what about Margaret?” Nora’s voice dropped. “You’re getting married soon. She’ll hate seeing us together. Maybe I should leave.”
Brian pulled her close. “You know what I really feel. My fated mate is you–being engaged to her was just to please my parents. You’re the one I’ve always wanted.”
I purposely dropped my keys on the floor, the sound echoing through the house. They both turned to
look at me.
The scattered clothes on the floor said everything.
Brian followed me, trying to close the bedroom door. “Don’t make this worse. Nothing happened. We didn’t take it that far.”
His words disgusted me. I shoved him aside. “Move.”

I grabbed my suitcase with trembling hands.
“Margaret.” Nora called softly. “Are you moving out?”
A car horn honked outside. Lawrence’s driver appeared at the door.
“Miss Weller, would you like some help with that?”
I shook my head at the driver and walked toward the car.
Brian grabbed my arm. “Where do you think you’re going? You disappear for an entire night, and now you’re moving out? Don’t go too far, Margaret. If you keep this up, don’t expect me to welcome you back.”
A cold smile twisted his lips. “If you’re waiting for me to chase after you, keep dreaming.”
I finally turned to face him, forcing a smile. “I’m not waiting for anything anymore, Brian. I’m just tired of waiting for you to change.”
Without another word, I climbed into the car.
Through the window, I heard him shout, “Fine! Go cool off and think about what you did wrong!”
