Chapter 6
Chapter 6
As the Alpha of the pack and the firstborn of the Windsor family, even though Lawrence’s engagement had been hurriedly prepared, it was destined to be grand. With his influence, everything was flawless.
My parents had always urged me not to marry Brian. When they saw I wouldn’t listen, they gave up. but now they were ecstatic about this sudden change. They had hoped for this moment, especially after Brian had canceled the engagement twice for Nora.
Brian’s delays had left my parents relieved, but because of my stubbornness, they didn’t press further. Now, hearing about my engagement to Lawrence, they were both thrilled and in disbelief.
My mom pulled me aside, her voice soft but curious. “What’s going on? You used to say Lawrence was the worst guy at school.”
My cheeks flushed. “Mom, I was young then. He used to tease me, but people change. Can we not talk about the past?”
The older generation was overjoyed. That evening, Lawrence’s mother opened her private vault eager to adorn me with the finest Windsor family jewels, fretting that none of them were special
enough.
Our engagement day coincided with Nora’s concert. Technically flawless as a performer, Nora’s music was overshadowed entirely by my engagement celebration–a grand event with all the prominent members of the pack in attendance.
Meanwhile, Brian had booked the largest private dining room at a hotel for Nora’s ceremony, but
nearly no one showed up.
He stared at the empty room, his frustration building. “Why is no one here? Why won’t they even respond to my mind link?”
One friend finally spoke up, “Uh Margaret’s engagement to Alpha Lawrence is today. Everyone probably went there. They won’t come here.”
Brian’s face turned pale. He grabbed his friend’s collar. “What did you say? Margaret is engaged to
whom?”
“Lawrence…. It’s all over social media. They’re even live–streaming it. Wait–do you really not know?”

Someone activated the projector. On screen, our ceremony was at its peak. Lawrence opened a velvet box, his voice warm and steady. “Thank you for choosing me. I promise to love and protect -you for the rest of my life.”
As he slid the ring onto my finger, it felt surreal. He leaned in and kissed me.
Brian hurled his glass at the wall. “Impossible! She’d never leave me for someone else! She never turned me down!”
His friend’s girlfriend scoffed. She had seen through him. “Why wouldn’t she? You bailed on her
three times for Nora. Even the most patient person has their limits.”
Brian’s eyes turned bloodshot with rage. “No! I just postponed a week! I never said we were done!”
The girl rolled her eyes. “Grow up, Brian. Every time, you choose Nora over her. If I were Margaret, I’d have left a long time ago. And Lawrence–he’s more powerful, more handsome, and actually loyal
to the woman he loves.”
Brian stormed out, with Nora chasing after him. “Brian, wait! Where are you going?”
Just as Lawrence and I were welcoming guests, Brian burst into the engagement celebration. Without warning, he grabbed my hand. “Margaret, come with me. We’re canceling this engagement
now!”
Before I could respond, Lawrence stepped between us. “This is my engagement ceremony with Margaret. You no longer have a say in this.”
Brian’s parents rushed forward, pulling him back. “Brian, are you crazy? If you want to throw a tantrum, do it elsewhere. This is a Windsor Weller engagement!”
Nora approached with a tone of feigned concern. “Please, don’t misunderstand. Brian always planned to marry Margaret, but circumstances made him postpone. How could she agree to marry someone else without even consulting him? Margaret, have you considered how Brian feels? After all these years, how could you be so heartless?”
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Playing innocent now, Nora? Shall we talk about why Brian canceled our engagement? Or do you plan to pretend nothing happened?”
I stepped closer. “Let’s review, shall we? First, you said you were ‘helpless Omega‘ in the forest and ‘needed him.‘ He dropped everything, even our engagement, to be with you.”

because you were ‘heartbroken‘ over Brian’s commitment. He didn’t hesitate to follow you.”
“And the third time? You purposely scheduled your concert on the day of our engagement. Everyone knew what message you were sending. And now you’re asking me why?”
I took another step closer. “Stop pretending. If you don’t love him, why do you keep clinging to him? Why act like the victim, treating him like your personal plaything?”
