Chapter 12
Ember was stunned for a moment, but then she realized that this was definitely a fake marriage certificate, a fake certificate that Rose had used to sow discord between them. She and David had even talked last night, and he had told her over the phone that he loved her. They had been together for eight years, and just a few days ago, she had given him her precious first time. How could he betray her?
Suppressing the shocked expression on her face from a second ago, Ember gave a cold smile and said, “Rose, you think you can destroy our relationship with a fake certificate in front of me? You are too arrogant and delusional.”
“A fake certificate? You don’t even believe it when you see it in front of our marriage certificate, Ember. You are too arrogant and deceiving yourself,” Rose said, trying to provoke the woman in front of her.
To provoke the woman who never took her superiority complex seriously, Rose once again opened the marriage certificate in her hand, lightly touching David’s face on the certificate with a look of relish. “Ember, do you know how amazing David was in my bed?”
A loud slap sounded as Ember slapped Rose in the face.
Rose, who had never been slapped before, was furious. “Ember, how dare you hit me!”
“I warned you that if you talked nonsense, I wouldn’t be polite to you,” Ember replied coldly.
Covering the half of her face that had been slapped red, Rose immediately tried to attack Ember.
The argument between the two women had already attracted a crowd of curious colleagues. When they saw Rose was about to attack, they immediately pulled her back.
“Let me go. Ember hit me, and I will definitely hit her back when I get the chance!” Rose yelled.
“Rose!”
As Rose screamed and yelled, a loud shout suddenly came from outside the crowd.
This shout not only quieted Rose down, but also made Ember turn her head in shock to see where the voice was coming from.
“David!”
“Honey!”
As David walked out of the crowd with a grim face and tightly clenched hands, Ember and Rose walked towards him at the same time.

However, Ember was not as fast as Rose. As she raised her foot, Rose had already taken a step ahead of her and ran to David’s front with a aggrieved look on half of her face.
“Honey, it’s great that you’re here. Please tell your ex–girlfriend that we’re already married. I just told her that we’re married, but not only did she not believe it, she even slapped me. Look, half of my face is swollen because of her.”
David stood there, ignoring the injury on Rose’s face.
From the moment he appeared, his eyes were fixed on Ember’s face, giving people a bad premonition.
And Ember, also stared firmly at the couple in front of her. Her eyes were red and swollen with rage.
She had seen with her own eyes Rose holding her boyfriend’s arm and calling him “honey” affectionately. And she was being coquettish with him.
Ember felt like every nerve in her body was being stimulated by the couple in front of her.
If she still couldn’t believe everything Rose had just said, then she was a fool.
Even if she believed it, her heart held onto a glimmer of hope.
Blinking her sore and painful eyes, with a face as pale as paper, she slowly walked up to him and forced out a smile, “David, what she said is not true, right?”
David closed his lips tightly into a line, his eyes still fixed on her, and as time ticked by, he remained silent.
As he continued to remain silent, Ember’s heart tightened and sank little by little.
His silence seemed to explain everything.
Even so, she still couldn’t give up and asked him again, “Is it true, David? Is everything she said true?”
“I’m sorry.”
After a long silence, David, like a statue, finally squeezed out three words from his mouth.
“I’m sorry.” The moment these three words were uttered, the crowd, who had been waiting for the result with Ember, let out a sigh and began to whisper.
At the same time, a “clunk” sound was heard as the cup in Ember’s hand fell to the ground and shattered into pieces.
This cup was the birthday gift that David had given her for her birthday. On the cup was a happy photo of them traveling together.

The cup was shattered.
Tears also rolled down Ember’s eyes.
These tears fell like broken beads, one by one, streamed down her cheeks.
