Chapter 16
“Come on, mate, you’re not being fair. I really want to know which fairy your Mrs Knight comes from, but you won’t even give me a hint about her,”
Alexander refused to answer Liam’s questions about his marriage other than to remind him not to tell anybody about it.
This made Liam, who was curious, get more curious and angrier the whole way.
The limited–edition Range Rover made a flawless transition from the road to the airport.
Robert, Alexander’s assistant, was already standing in line at the entrance to the airport. As soon as Alexander exited the vehicle, the assistant quickly approached.
Alexander pulled his prized marriage certificate out of his pocket, rubbed the cheek of the lovely woman in the ID photo just before the plane took off, as if he was already missing her even before leaving.
At noon today, Ember went on a blind date, using the excuse of meeting with a client.
Originally, she was afraid that not driving herself would cause misunderstanding, but luckily Alexander helped her take a taxi back to the company. As soon as she got out of the taxi, she hastily got into her own car, pretending to have just finished meeting with the client.
Little did she know, as soon as she pulled her car into the underground garage, a pair of impatient hands pulled open the door and dragged her out.
“You attended a blind date, right? ”
“Yes.”
Ember realized what was occurring and scowled angrily at the David in front of her.
“I promised you that I would marry you after five years, didn’t I? I promised you that I would love only one woman in this world, which is you.”
Promise.
Ember grinned sourly.
He promised her that he would only love her in the whole life.
He promised her he would put in a lot of effort to make money so he could marry her.

He promised her that if he had her, he would be accountable for her.
But each of his betrayals of her came as a surprise, so she was unprepared.
Ember no longer wished to dwell on the past.
She made an effort to collect herself, and a split second later, she was back to normal. She pointed at the camera and gazed up at it in the top right corner of her head, saying, “If you want to stay a loser forever, you can continue talking. Say it to that.”
David’s expression changed as he caught a glimpse of the camera she was pointing towards, and he stopped harassing her.
After escaping his harassing, she hurriedly moved in the direction of the elevator hallway. Ember leaned against the chilly wall, remembering their lovely past and grieving.
She returned to the workplace after making herself gather her thoughts.
She ran into Rose as she approached the entrance.
Ember was worn out from the recent confrontation in the basement. She made an effort to go around the obstacle.
Unfortunately, Rose did not honor her requests.
“I learned that you went on a blind date.”
Ember didn’t feel like answering.
Rose toyed idly with the embellishments on her nails and sneered, “Looks like you’re not in a good mood at all. Oh, oh, oh, I understand why you’re upset; your blind date was a complete bust. Tell me, did you meet a horrible guy?”
“Are you busy or not?”
Ember inquired the obstruction in her way while being watched by the other chattering coworkers in the workplace.
“With your family background, men with better conditions probably can’t even avoid you. If you’re in a hurry to get married, I can introduce a man to you. I remember my dad has a friend who just lost his wife. If you’re single, I can introduce you to him,”
“What did you say, Rose?”
Charlotte, Ember’s best friend, had just gone to the restroom, but when she returned, she noticed Rose was embarrassing Ember and hurried over.

“What did I say? I mentioned that my dad has a rich friend who recently lost his wife. If Ember is open to it, I can introduce them–as long as she doesn’t mind that he’s bald. ”
Charlotte gave Rose a straight slap in the face as she finished speaking.
“How dare you?”
Rose gritted her teeth in rage and hid her flushed face. Charlotte, on the other hand, calmly stroked her stinging palm and said, “You have a foul mouth and personality, if I don’t hit you, who will?”
“You!”
Under Charlotte’s control, Rose had endured far too many setbacks.
With Charlotte nearby, she wouldn’t dare to behave that carelessly with Ember on a typical day.
She behaved rashly just now when she realized Charlotte wasn’t there, but she didn’t anticipate being confronted.
“Me what? Don’t act like that just because this company belongs to your uncle. I was teaching you a lesson on behalf of him.”
Even though Charlotte was only working for the firm for pleasure, the chairman of the company had to respect her because of her background.
“You…”
After holding her breath for a time, Rose pointed towards Charlotte but was at a loss for words.
