Chapter 34
“Immediately release her. As for the other one, detain her. Since she has a penchant for meddling without reason, let her experience the consequences of meddling firsthand. I won’t say a word, and no one is to set them free.”
“Yes, understood,” Director Blake hastily replied, wiping the beads of sweat from his forehead.
“Now, regarding your police officer inside…”
“Rest assured, Mr. Alexander. I already have a plan to handle that. I will not disappoint you.”
“Ms. Ember, you may leave now,”
Officer Justin, Director Blake’s subordinate, entered the interrogation room where Ember was being held. Standing before her with respect, he addressed her.
Ember was taken aback by Officer Justin’s words.
“How is that possible?” Rose Thompson exclaimed, abruptly rising from her seat. She forcefully pushed Ember away and hurried towards Officer Justin. “Officer, you’re mistaken. It’s me to leave.”
“You are mistaken,” Officer Justin retorted, looking at her coldly.
“What?” Rose Thompson pointed at Ember, who had been shoved aside and almost stumbled. “She’s the one who caused trouble and nearly killed me. How can she be released so easily? I haven’t pressed charges against her yet. How many years will she be imprisoned for attempted murder?”
Officer Justin paid no attention to Rose Thompson, instead approaching the officer who had previously threatened Ember, delivering the news to him.
“I apologize, Sergeant David. Your superiors have instructed me to inform you that you are being suspended pending an investigation. The necessary paperwork for your suspension and investigation will be processed soon.”
Officer David, knowing Officer Justin’s affiliation with the Blake Bureau, understood that the statement carried the weight of an official order.
His face contorted with a mixture of shock and resentment as he reluctantly shifted his gaze towards Ember, who stood to his left.
Ember faltered, stumbling a few steps before collapsing weakly into the chair behind her.
Rose Thompson glanced at Officer David, who remained seated, unable to accept the turn of events.

Unwillingly, she turned to Officer Justin and asked, “What about me?”
“As for you, you cannot leave just yet. Another officer will be assigned to conduct a further interrogation. By the way, I must remind you that every word spoken in this room has been recorded. Furthermore, Ember has already obtained evidence through her lawyer, proving that you threatened and framed her. Prepare yourself to face a legal battle.”
“How can this be?”
“Your actions, along with Officer David’s, not only implicated yourselves but also tarnished the reputation of our police station–a place where civil justice is held sacred. Even if Ms William decided to let you go, our police station would still hold both you and Officer David accountable for your illegal acts.”
Officer Justin’s words wiped away Rose Thompson’s earlier sense of superiority entirely.
However, she remained seated beside Officer David, still grappling with disbelief.
Ember stood there in a daze. Initially, she believed she must have misheard. Only when she witnessed Officer Justin swiftly handling the other two officers did the truth begin to sink in.
After disposing of the two officers, Officer Justin promptly approached Ember with respect. “Miss William, our officers colluded with external parties to falsely accuse and detain you for an extended period of time. It was a dereliction of our duty. Please rest assured, we will punish the other two severely and ensure justice is served. Now, you may leave.”
“Officer, can you please enlighten me on what just happened? Who came to my aid?”
Ember slowly stepped out of the interrogation room, pausing for a moment. When she saw Officer Justin emerging, she couldn’t help but pose another question.
Officer Justin smiled warmly, his gaze filled with affection as he looked at Ember. “Miss William, our police station upholds fairness and strict adherence to the law. You have been grievously wronged, and we are committed to providing you with the justice you deserve. As for the details, it’s best not to dwell on them too much. Rest assured, you are now free.”
Ember stared at Officer Justin’s retreating figure, still struggling to comprehend what had transpired. Confused, she made her way out.
As she reached the door, she never expected to find Alexander waiting for her on the other side.
“Why are you here? Did you ensure that justice was served at the police station?” Ember had a multitude of questions swirling inside her, but for now, these two were at the forefront of her mind.
“I heard about what happened to you, so I rushed over. I arrived just in time as they were concluding the interrogation and releasing you,” Alexander explained, holding a set of car keys in his hand while glancing at the parked vehicle on the side of the road, pretending to have just arrived.
