The house was an quiet as ever, and I assumed Cecil was yet to return see the smally played unikut music, classics, or opera, depending on her mood whenever she returned.
I stepped into the bedroom and stopped when I found Cecil seated in bed, looking rather be. Something was wrong, and it was all over her. And even if she didn’t look this way, I would will be magiciens because there was no sound of music playing in the house. The happiness I had walked into the house with disappeared.
“Cecil.” I started and slowed down in my step. “Hey.”
Her gaze lifted, and there was a wounded look on her face, and my heart tightened, wondering what
horrible thing had happened.
“What’s wrong?” I asked in a calm voice.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” She inquired, and her sadness and anger seemed directed at me.
The question didn’t help because I was lost and knew not what exactly she spoke about. “Why didn’t I tell
you what?”
“Why didn’t you tell me she’s back?” She demanded and rose to her feet. “Why didn’t you tell me Imela
came back?”
I stood still, not moving or even breathing. She knew; she found out about her, and that didn’t sound like
a good thing.
“How did you know?”
She scoffed as if she could not believe my question. “How did I know? She came to Stop; that’s how I know, and you didn’t answer my fucking question!” She snapped at me, glaring daggers.

“I know you were upset, but this is why I didn’t want to tell you. I didn’t want you working yourself up because of her presence”
She shook her head, “You did not do this for me; you did it for yourself. You wanted to keep the truth of her return to yourself.”
“That’s not true” dented.
She turned away from me and rubbed her hand over her forehead as she kept on rambling. “Only heaven knows what else you have done.”
“Cecil” I approached her, but she raised her hands to stop me from touching her when I almost did.
She turned back to me and stared into my eyes, “What else are you keeping from me?”
“Nothing.” I held my hands up, being completely honest.
I was foolish to have kept the truth about Imela’s return from her, and I regret it now, but that was it.
That was all,
She stepped back from me, and a painful tear ran down her face. “And why should I believe you? First, you got her name tattooed on the most intimate part of your body, and then you hid the news of her return from me, I can’t trust you, and until I can, I want to be on my own.” She said that and walked out of the room, leaving me alone,
Flashback,
I heard the door of my room open, and I groaned angrily. “I told you I wanted to be alone, Mom, did I not?” I asked as I turned my head, only to find Cecil standing there with a takeaway bag in her hand.
She had on a red sundress, which stopped above her knee, and a black jacket. Her curly red hair was in a ponytail, and her glasses were on. She reminded me of Imela, but since they were friends, copying each other’s styles was not a surprising thing.
“Oliver, hey,”
My eyes narrowed at her. “Cecil, what are you doing here?” I asked and pulled myself up to sit down.
“You haven’t been to school in three days, and I was worried and thought to check up on you.” She said and walked to drop the takeaway in her hand on the bed. “I went to the apartment, but the security told me you haven’t been there in days, and I thought you might be here. Your mother let me in. I got food; you should eat.”
“You are Ela’s friend.” I reminded her of my reasons for being suspicious of her presence.
“I stopped being Imela’s friend after realising what she was doing to you. I think you are a good guy, and

you deserve better *
I looked around; my room was not in the best condition to have a guest. It was a mess. It hadn’t been cleaned since I returned to it, and I chased the maids that Ivory had sent to clean it away. If I had known she would come over, I would have done some cleaning. Cecil didn’t mind; she only cared about how I was doing. It was so kind and considerate of her.
“That’s so nice to hear, and I am sorry for the mess.”
She shook her head. “You are heartbroken; it is expected to not be at your best, but I want you to know
that I am here.” She smiled at me. I never noticed she had a pretty smile until now.
My attention lingered on her lips before travelling down to her neck.
I couldn’t do that; I couldn’t think of her inappropriately. Yes, I wanted to make Imela pay for what she
had done, but I couldn’t use Cecil this way; she was a good person and deserved better.
Besides, I couldn’t bring myself up to the level of Seth and Ela.
“Thank you, Cecil. You are a good person.”
She leaned in and kissed my lips, taking me by surprise. I placed my hands on her shoulders and pulled away to stare her in the face, unsure if she knew what she was doing.
She bit her lower lip and said, “I am not a good person; I am just a girl with a beating heart for one man.” She answered. “Imela fumbled a good man, a man many would kill over, a man I would do anything to
have him look at me the way he once did her.”
I became silent, understanding what she meant.
Though Ela had wounded me, I still had deep feelings and affection for her, which I hated myself for. I was flattered that she had such feelings for me, but I couldn’t be the one she wanted me to be.
“Cecil,” I began, struggling to find the words to say. I felt nothing for her, and I wasn’t sure I ever would.
Her eyes grew glassy. “I am sorry; I shouldn’t have done that, but I love you.”
I reached for her and wiped the tears that fell away. “Do not be sorry,” I said, leaning in and kissing her
lips.
Flashback ends
Cecil had been with me from the very beginning; she helped me get over the heartbreak I suffered, and she stayed until my heart healed. She had been there, hopeful, faithful, and true to her love for me. Staying true to her wasn’t something I had to debate; it was a choice, and I owed her that after everything.

I stood at the guest room door and knocked on it, but before Cecil could beckon me in, I posted i ofer and stepped inside. She arose from the bed as soon as the door opened.
“I told you I wanted to be alone.”
“We’ve been together for four years, and to an extent, I know you, and I know you do not want to be alone, you hate when you are alone.”
She threw her face away and folded her arms across her chest “T’d rather be alone than around you after what you have done.”
I walked to her, ignoring her warning, and I took her tightly by the shoulders. “Listen to me, Ceri fam sorry for leaving you in the dark, but I am not hiding anything else from you. I am just as committed to making this work as you are.”
She stared at me and asked, “Is that a promise?”
“That is a promise,” I answered, kissing her lips.
