Chapter 59
“Do you want to tell me why you are here without an invitation?” Imela asked as she walked up towards me, looking anything but happy to see me.
I once again visited the Garcia Group firm without a formal invitation from her and was stopped by Benjamin. I knew Ela would prefer to come to the Plane enterprise, and if I had called ahead, that would have been what she would have done. I wanted to see her here. There was an energy I felt the last time I
was here. She was more relaxed here than all the times she had been at the Plane Enterprise; I liked that.
The floor looked to be in a more arranged fashion than it was when I came to visit the first time. A lot of work had been put in place to bring out the firm’s unique look of comfort and confidence. Its outlook mimicked the one in Madrid, making it feel like a home away from home. The Garcia Group logo was also
on the wall close to Ela’s office.
She had let me in the last time by grace, and she told me they had a strict policy on visitation and schedule. She broke the rules for me once, and the chances of her repeating it were slim. It was a risk I
knew about and was willing to take regardless.
Ela’s visits had decreased since the Plane Enterprise began achieving financial capability. She used to visit four days a week, and now she hasn’t been to the company this week. The stronger Plane Enterprise became, the lesser Ela’s involvement, and it was only a matter of time before she would cease her visit.
I had gotten so used to seeing her every week that it seemed I was experiencing a withdrawal as well. There was something about seeing her face that made my day; I couldn’t explain it, but it was true.
She was in a white shirt and red skirt that matched the colour of her lips, and her legs were in a red heels that made them look taller and all the more beautiful. I wanted to run my fingers on them.
I slowed down my horses and yanked my mind away from that thought.
I looked up at her and smiled, knowing I had gotten her attention just as I wanted. “I came to see you.”
She didn’t smile back or look pleased. “Well, you have seen me now; you need to leave.” She walked away.
I hated that she was leaving, but it was hard to hate when my attention stayed on her swaying waist. She had gotten curvier, and her clothes were doing her justice.
I liked that.
“Come on, Ms. August,” I said, and she didn’t stop walking. “You are going to leave without hearing what I have to say?” I demanded, and this made her halt and turn around.
“And what is it you wanted to say?” She demanded and folded her arms across her chest, and I fought to

keep my gaze up.
Everything about her brought weakness to every part of me.
“Not with him here to hear it; I don’t know who else is lurking by.”
She rolled her eyes, and I knew she was about to turn away and leave. “Ela, please,” I begged, then realised I wasn’t supposed to call her that.
She didn’t look offended by the name I called her; perhaps she didn’t hear it, or she did and ignored it.
“The last time I was alone with you, you tried to kiss me.” She pointed out, and the memory of that night lingered in my head. I still had the smell of her skin stuck in my head, and I wouldn’t have it any other
way.
My cheeks warmed up. “I do not regret my attempt, but I apologised if I had placed you in an awkward position with my reckless act. I will also apologise to your boyfriend and tell him it won’t happen again.” I genuinely meant that because, while I was being an asshole, I was going after a woman who clearly belonged to another man. Fermin was a good guy and didn’t deserve that. I had to be a better man.
Speaking about the old man, I have not seen him in a while.
“That’s good to know, but Fermín is now my ex; we broke up.” She said it, and there was restraint in her
voice.
I did not feel as much joy as I thought I would at the news of Ela being single, probably because they looked good and cared about each other, so this breakup must have hurt them both. I had a million questions to ask now, but I knew I wasn’t entitled to their answers.
“I am sorry to hear that, but I promise I won’t try to kiss you, even though I’d give anything to taste those lips one more time,” I mumbled the last part to myself because saying it out loud would guarantee being kicked out of here.
She didn’t believe me; her eyes said so. “I broke the rule for you once; I am not doing it again.” She said, then turned to Benjamin. “You may go back to your post.”
He nodded and took his leave, but I never broke my gaze on Ela.
“You have a thing for not playing by the rules and being painted the bad guy.” She spoke before I could, and she was referring to my recent disaster of a wedding.
Everyone had been on my neck since the news broke, either calling me a dog for what I did or being disappointed. Vivian, my family and friends knew the truth, and when confronted, they told my side of
the story.
I was lucky they had my back.

My mouth twitched to the side as I thought of the many times I played by the rules and could only see one. “I want to, but sometimes it gets boring, and as for being the bad guy, I would leave that judgment to those who know me.”
A smile almost came to her face. “What did you come to say? Say it and be done with it.”
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Just because.”
“That’s what you came here to say?”
I nodded. “I came here to see you and say thank you.”
She stared at me as if I had done à sacrilegious act. “There is no reason to thank me, Mr. Plane; what I do for your company is my job, and there is no need to be thanked for doing my job. You should stick to doing yours so I wouldn’t have to repeat the process.”
I might be twisted in the head, but I always found her hot whenever she turned bossy. “I will do my very best, Ms. Garcia.”
“Mama!” Ocean’s voice charged through where we stood, and, in an instant, Ela’s eyes lost their formal expression, and now they were filled with compassion and delight.
“Ocean!” She called and stooped so the little running boy could enter her arms. She kissed his forehead and lifted him into her arms. “You are back so early.”
He nodded, excitement still on his face. “César y Monique compraron muchas cosas (Caesar and Monique bought a lot of things).”
“I hope you liked them, though.”
“Yes, I do.”
“Say hi to Mr. Plane. He’s about to take his leave.” She told him and that wasn’t our agreement.
The little boy waved at me, and I waved back with a smile. “You’ll come?” he asked with expectant brown
eyes.
I paused, a little lost in what he was asking of me. “Come where?”
“Birthday.” He replied and then touched his chest to signify whose birthday it was.
“Oh. Your birthday.” He nodded, “Nice, how old will you be, Ocean?” I asked.

“Tendré cuatro años ( will be four years old)!” he said, holding up four fingers to tell me what he meant when I appeared lost
I needed to brush up on my Spanish if I wanted to keep up with this little man.
He wanted me to come to his birthday party, and that was a step in the right direction.
“I don’t know, Mama has to sign up for that one,” I said and turned to Ela, who had an indifferent look.
I prayed that she agreed; I looked forward to being around this energy again.
Ocean turned to her, understanding what I meant. “Sure, you can come,” she replied reluctantly.
