Chapter 68
Oliver had sent in a letter of apology as requested by Imela, and following its approval, he returned to work. He remembered the many times he issued those out to out–of–control staff members, and now he
was an out–of–control staffer.
He had a smaller office compared to his former one, but it was enough to fit everything he had. He was like everyone else now: an ordinary staff member taking orders from the boss, but this was temporary. It wasn’t close to Imela’s office, but not too far away. She wanted him within arms reach or at least that was
what he told himself.
Air–Plane’s performance, amongst other airlines this past month, was a commendable one. By doing extra, just like Imela instructed, they receive a better outcome than expected. The staff members had to work extra hours, and some pay had to go up a few per cent, but it paid off. After the first week, Imela didn’t have to correct the report; everyone knew what to do. The numbers did not lie, and they kept going
high.
All her suggestions brought positive returns, and they took them without question. At first, he didn’t know if they could amass 15% every month, but they did.
After a few fallouts, he learnt a better way to communicate with her and understand her. His father’s words rang through his mind: She was not a monster; she was doing business like everyone else. That helped him see clearly. They had maintained a civil working relationship after reaching an
understanding point.
Imela divided her time between Garcia Group, Stop, and the Plane Enterprise while taking on new
clients. Her team was competent and supportive; they had her covered. Ingrid supervised just like she did
before Imela took over, and she remained sweet and kind.
Despite their success and pace, Imela wanted more, and it got worse. She returned the daily report unchecked or checked and requesting a do–over. The do–overs would take many extra hours, but she would only give two. She had fired three staff because they had been late to submit their report, and
Imela couldn’t have that.
He tried speaking to her about her method, but she snapped, telling him to stay in his lane.
A week ago, she called for a meeting, asking for input from executives only to tear down their suggestions
or find loopholes or reasons why it would never work if implemented. Her attack got worse when it came to him because she asked how he had run the Plane Enterprise for so long with his level of incompetence. She had attacked the works of others, but with him, she made it personal.
He then realised it was only a matter of time before he had enough of her.
Reporting to her now was just as impossible as he thought. She was difficult and had issues with all the

reports they submitted. Last week, she made him the auditor for them even though she knew that wasn’t his job.
Two days ago, two staff members broke down from too much pressure. Imela sent them home, issuing them both query letters, and this morning, one of them sent in her resignation letter instead.
In all this, Oliver maintained calmness. Biting his tongue to control his outbursts and anger whenever he was around Ela had become a must for him.
“What is this?” Imela asked. “You know you do a fine job of pissing me off, Mr. Plane.” She exploded, slamming the files in her hand to the ground.
He was under a lot of pressure, but it wasn’t just from Imela; it was also from Cecil. She had become demanding and wore him out. He had moved back in with her after weeks of being woken up at ungodly hours because Cecil believed something was wrong with the baby. Being in the same house didn’t make things any better; she still worked him up with bizarre demands, but at least he wasn’t driving furiously
on the road at 2 a.m. to get to Cecil.
He had remained optimistic, but he knew his breaking point was coming. Today was that day.
He had taken the rest of the work home yesterday to complete it, but he didn’t get time to do so with Cecil’s unending demands. He had fallen asleep midway and came to work with an unfinished report Imela had lashed out at him, forgetting that she had added auditing to his job and that he had also stayed
up to date except for today.
Today was the exception, not the rule, but she didn’t care. He should have kept control, but he didn’t
want to.
“Well, that makes the two of us,” he bit out crudely.
She glared at him, and if looks could kill, they would have carried him out in a body bag.
“I do not appreciate your lateness; you know this, and still, you chose to piss me off. Do you hate the positive results we have maintained these past months? Do you wish to return to the mud you were once in, fighting for the next big thing to save the Plane Enterprise from the crises you once called reality?”
His teeth gritted, and he saw red. He boiled in anger at her use of their struggles against him. “What happened to not stepping on what is already down? Or does that only exist at your convenience?” he asked. “For weeks, I have done what I could while working under your rigorous demands and instructions. I kept faith because I thought this was better than losing it all, but it wasn’t. You have no conscience of moral code; you step on anything and everything in your way. You tear down anything that doesn’t align with your views in the cruellest way. This is my parents‘ legacy, and it was going to be my child’s, but I do not want to be a part of it anymore; I do not want to be anywhere near you because working under you is worse than hell itself.” He said and walked to the door.
“If you walk out that door, do not come back,” she threatened sternly.

Robb would be disappointed in him. He found a way for them to win, and he would be disappointed to know he left, this time for good. He couldn’t stay he could, but getting back Plane Enterprise would cost
him his soul.
He opened the door and walked out.
