Chapter 70
Oliver had gotten into his car three days ago and driven off. He didn’t go home, and be twinned off his phone so no one would reach him. He had quit his job at the Plane Enterprise, anable to take Eart tyranny any longer.
He had never fared well with dictatorship, which made him hate working with foory Plane in the past. It was the same thing with Imela now, and he couldn’t take it. He had throom everything away his familly’s legacy, his future, as well as that of his children. But staying felt like self betrayal
Imela wasn’t the only one who made his life hell; Cecil also chose not to be understanding of everything that was happening. He never thought his life would be so out of place, being pushed into the wall by the women who once claimed to love him. He was a coward, though, because he chose to run away instead
of facing his troubles like a man.
Then, it was unclear, but now he understood why Seth attempted to end it all. When the world is against
you, you seek a way out.
He checked into the Lockwood Hotel, a private hotel far away from the city belonging to his friend’s family. There, he would have a little peace for a while. He paid for a week and checked into his room
Ela’s opinion about him shouldn’t matter much, but it did. The look on her face and the tone she had weighed on his soul and made him want to hide away for good.
He replayed his final blowout with Imela on multiple occasions.
He couldn’t stand the look of disappointment or disregard she had whenever she spoke to him. It was one of the things that ticked him off. She also held condescension and anger. It felt like she hated him. Hate was a strong word, but that was what he felt. She despised him, and it showed even in her eyes.
He couldn’t be around that.
He wanted to hate her, and with all his might, he wished he could, but he couldn’t. When he found her with Seth, he couldn’t hate her; he could only distance himself.
It was best this way, though, for everyone. Ela wouldn’t have to make him miserable, and he wouldn’t have to wish her the worst fate known to man every time.
He knew the news of getting fired would circle quickly, and his family would try to get answers. He had none to give out to them, and so he would wait until he had the mental capacity to face the world once again.
He went hiking the first day, and the next day, he spent hours swimming at the hotel’s pool Today, he wanted to play pool and asked the lounge manager if a pool table was available at the bar. He said yes,

He had never fared well with dictatorship, which made him hate working with Ivory Plane in the past. It was the same thing with Imela now, and he couldn’t take it. He had thrown everything away his family’s legacy, his future, as well as that of his children. But staying felt like self–betrayal.

and he knew he would be coming over in the evening
After bathing, he ordered breakfast, and as he ate, he turned on the TV for the fird time since farking in. The news was on, showing Lawrence Hospital, and at the side of the screen was a pletives of Marest Garcia. Intrigued, Oliver read the caption. ‘Billionaire businessman, Marcel Garcia, in an indurat coma following his recent heart attack. He read the few news stories diding under the main sees, and there was no mention of him quitting
Yes, it’s been three days, but it should still make the news for at least a week. Verhaps la dider has the time to make that public news because of her father’s state.
He sympathised with her for what was happening with her father, but it didn’t make him less angry a her. She was vile, condescending, and controlling, and there was a difference between trying in get the best result and trying to make everyone take their own lives.
He picked up his phone from the nightstand; he wanted to be the first to tell Robb he had quit his job.
He turned on his phone, but before he could find Robb’s number in his phone and call, a call came in,
and it was from Nina.
“That was fast!” He mumbled, but he picked up the call. “You have perfect timing, Nina.”
“Seth’s memory is back, Oliver; he remembers everything.” It was the first thing that came through. “He says he needs to speak to you.”
He immediately rose to his feet. His little break from reality was over, and it was time to pick up where he left off.
Driving back took one hour and thirty minutes. The Plane’s mansion, where Seth had stayed since he awakened, was closer, but Nina texted him a different address, which was an open restaurant close to Seth’s old apartment. This route brought back many memories, but he shoved them away and drove over.
He spotted Seth seated outside the restaurant beside Nina, who held onto Jesse, and he approached
“Hey,” he said when he got close. Seth looked up at him, and there was a smile that bore memories of pain and guilt. He didn’t have this look when he lost his memory. He smiled happily then.
“Oliver, hey,” Seth replied.
Nina rose and hugged him while holding Jesse in her hand. “I’ve been trying to keep him up to speed on everything that happened after his attempted suicide.” After informing him, she took a seat, and Oliver followed suit.
“She has.” Seth nodded.
“When did it happen? Regaining your memory?” Oliver asked

“This morning. Nina took me on a walk, I guess like the normally does on days like today, and I remembered, I cannot remember what happened after I woke, and the had been helping me fill in the
blanks of the last five months of being awake.”
“You said you needed to see me.”
Seth nodded slowly, “I wanted to apologise.”
“You did in the text you sent before attempting to end it.” Oliver reminded him.
He pressed his lips, “I remember.” He replied, “I couldn’t go into much detail because I knew I wouldn’t have the time to do what was needed. The only way out I saw was death, and I didn’t want to lose my chance or talk myself out.”
“What was the detail, then?”
“Imela.” He answered and then proceeded to explain the part he had played in bringing an end to their marriage five years ago.
“I knew Cecil had feelings for you, so I asked for her help; if all went according to plan, she would have you to herself, and I would have Imela like I always wanted.”
Oliver couldn’t believe Cecil was in on it, too. His eyes blurred, and his hands fisted in fury under the table. He was losing control, and the only thing keeping him sane was Jesse and Nina, who sat across
from them.
He rose from his seat and turned away from them, unable to take the pain the truth caused him. He knew the longer he stayed, the more the urge to beat Seth back into a coma would grow until he gave in.
“Oliver, I am sorry,” Seth spoke in a hollow voice and rose to his feet, trying to come close.
Oliver turned around, his eyes blazing. “I wouldn’t come any closer if I were you, Seth,” Oliver warned through gritted teeth and a pained expression before storming off.
