Love Story7–Chapter 1
On my first day hack in the country, after reporting to the company, I went home and started tidying up the long vacant villa.[]
Sweating profusely, I casually posted photos of the cleaned rooms on Facebook to document my
efforts.
People quickly started liking it, but I didn’t pay much attention.[]
Until a friend called anxiously, saying that because of a photo I posted on Facebook, the comments section had exploded.[]
After seeing the comments. I was bewildered. The commenters were some new colleagues I had just added when I reported in.[]
Laila: “Wow, what a luxurious villa! Annle seems quite low–key, I had no idea her family was so wealthy.”
Mabel: “What kind of background does Annie have to be able to afford such a luxurious villa? I’m so envious.”]
Lillian: “Annie, you really keep a low profile! I didn’t expect someone so young to be living in such a luxurious villa. Come on, tell us, who are you really? Let me admire you properly.”
Everyone chimed in, expressing shock and envy.
Colleagues I had only met once today, and some I hadn’t even met, were all unusually enthusiastic towards me.
I hadn’t expected that just posting on Facebook would generate so many comments and likes.
I replied, “I don’t have any special background, just got lucky.“]
As soon as I sent the message, a colleague’s mocking comment suddenly popped up.
“Truly shameless, posting pictures of my house to seek attention. How vain.“]
“You even have the nerve to talk about being lucky. Are you saying you’re lucky to have found a good husband? Or lucky to have been born into a good family?”
“This villa belongs to Mr. Lewis of Lewis Group. How could someone like you afford it?”
I was very confused. What did the photos of my own house have to do with her?]
She just jumped in and started scolding me aggressively, acting as if the villa really was hers.
Moreover, this person knew it was the Lewis family’s villa, yet she dared to claim it? Wasn’t she afraid of being exposed?
of my own home.“[
I didn’t immediately try to prove anything, but asked her. “Mia, you must be mistaken. I posted photos of my own home.”
I thought she would stop there, but unexpectedly she posted some photos of herself drinking tea and picking flowers in the garden, completely taking on the air of the lady of the house
After posting, she didn’t forget to continue scolding me.
“How could I be mistaken about my own home? The forest is so big, it really does attract all kinds of birds. You casually
take a photo at my house and then claim it as your own.”
“If you want to attract attention, at least choose a smarter way, can you?“]
By your logic. If you take a photo with a globe, does that mean you can say the Earth is yours too?”
Those colleagues who had been calling me “Annie” left and right earller now changed their tune under Mia’s misguided influence.
They then moved from Facebook to the work group chat.[]
“Annie. I never thought you were this kind of person. Truly, you can’t judge a book by its cover. You look so low–key and innocent, but it was all an act?”
“I didn’t expect to be slapped in the face so quickly. How embarrassing.”
“It’s really eye–opening. Just going to work and we can meet a gold digger. Did you think by pretending a bit, you could hook a rich man?”
“Or maybe she thought by posting a photo, it would make it seem like she comes from a good family, and we’d all revolve around her in the future?”
“Is the HR department so useless now? They’ll hire just anyone.“]
“You can’t really blame HR. After all, they’re not mind readers. How would they know Annie could put on such an act?” ||
“So this is what they call a gold digger? I’ve learned something new today.”
Seeing everyone scolding me, Mia came out pretending to be magnanimous: “Annie, If you apologize to me, I’ll pretend this never happened.”
I was amused and angry. I posted photos of my own villa, and now I have to apologize to her?
My upbringing made me maintain basic politeness: “Mia, why are you in my house and why did you take so many photos?”
As far as I could remember, I had never seen Mia in my house, and at the company, we had only met once today. She was just a colleague whose name I could barely recall.
Mia sent an angry emoji and then posted a few more messages.
“Colleagues, have you ever seen someone so shameless? At this point, she’s still claiming this is her house. If I remember correctly, Annie’s resume said she was single, and she doesn’t have the surname Lewis.”
“Does she think that just by posting a photo, she can claim a connection to the Lewis Family?”
“It’s simply ridiculous.”
As she spoke, she posted another photo of herself in the study.
She had even been in my study?]]
Who exactly was this person? I was truly baffled for a moment
moment.
“How did you even get into my house, and you even entered my study? Please don’t set foot in my house ever again. I will definitely Investigate how this happened, and you must give me an explanation.”
Mia: “An explanation? I never thought there would be someone so blatantly trying to accuse others of their own crime.“]
Mia tagged HR: “Roberts supervisor, why do we keep someone like this in our company? Her mind is clearly elsewhere.“]
The HR supervisor Roberts also said: “Annie, the work group is a place to discuss work, not a place for you to show off your vanity. I hope you can focus your attention on work.”
The implication was that I had my mind on other things?
Since work–related topics weren’t allowed in the work group, some colleagues created a new small group and added met to it, continuing to discuss this topic.
Those colleagues who were enthusiastic towards me earlier now directed their enthusiasm towards Mia.]
“I remember when Mia was on the phone with her husband, she called him Mr. Lewis. I Lewis from the Lewis Group.”
I didn’t realize it was actually Mr.
“I heard that Mrs. Lewis has been very low–key, married to Mr. Lewis for many years without ever appearing in public. I didn’t expect she was right beside us.”
“Mia, we’ve been colleagues
for several years, and I never realized. You really kept it hidden well.“]
After sending a few blushing emojis, Mia continued to send text messages.
“Sigh, if it weren’t for someone being vain and posting photos of my house, I wouldn’t have had to expose the truth on the spot.”
Zara sent several excited emojis.]
Zara: “Oh my god, Mia, I can’t believe you’re actually Mrs. Lewis. I’ve been following your TikTok, but you never showed your face in the videos, so I didn’t recognize you.“]]
Other colleagues also chimed in, praising Mia for being low–key, beautiful, graceful…]
My colleagues used every flattering word they could think of.]
Mia couldn’t be more pleased.
“Thank you all. I originally wanted to keep a low profile, but it seems that’s impossible now. Tomorrow happens to be the weekend, why don’t we all get together at my house?”
“However, certain people are excluded. I don’t want to see some vain individuals.“[]
