The Pack: Rule Number 1 – No Mates
Chapter Three Hundred Ten
DOMONIC
The clouds are thick with rain by the time Grant leaves us on the pebbled shore. The tiny islet Logan selected for this stand-off can’t be more than a mile or so in each direction. As Grant rides away, I turn to Quinn with a nod toward the trees, signaling for him to scout the landscape while I drag our little princess away from the shore.

Quinn undresses without saying a word then shifts, racing forward into the trees. Watching tum until the last wisp of fur is out of sight, I tune my ears into the sounds around me. The crash of waves on the rocks to my right are there is a cave somewhere on that side that must lead into the islet. I know it doesn’t go al would be able to hear it. More than likely, it’s probably flooded and only accessible by boat on

Glancing down at Roman, I note he’s sleeping peacefully, all wrapped in chains and pumped full of drugs. That fact is mildly irritating, as I’d much rather watch him suffer a nightmare or two. I keep having to remind myself that, although I don’t believe he started the fire, he definitely watched it burn, so he deserves all this shit that’s coming his way. Just imagining it…him…standing somewhere nearby and watching while my mother…our mothers…burned…”it boils my insides almost more than it did when I thought he started it.
According to Cane, he’s been watching our pack for years. Hunting his own kind! He killed Gayle’s and Gryffin’s mom.
Yeah, he deserves to suffer.
So what if I accidentally kick him a couple of times in the head before lifting him up and hoisting him over my shoulder. He’s heavy!
Walking higher onto the beach, I dump him near a thick of evergreen trees and then retrieve our supply box from the shore. The rain has started to pelter down, so I work as quickly as possible, setting up the tent and stashing our rifles out of sight The weapons are to pick off as many as we can before they make it to the islet. We already know what kind of guys are heading our way, and they will probably have the latest equipment available, but we also know whatever they have, they will have to carry it with them. So it will be close to impossible for them to bring much this way that doesn’t get them noticed.
Should they arrive by helicopter, they are going down in the middle of the ocean and absolutely no one will give a f***k.
“Dom!” Quinn shouts as he crashes through the trees. His eyes are wildly scanning the landscape, as if he expects someone or something
to be hiding nearby.
“What is it?” I ask, shooting up to my feet from where I’d been squatting on the ground. “What did you find?”
Quinn steps into the tent, studying Roman for a quick moment before granting me his full attention. “We’re not alone out here.”
“What?” I snap. “What do you mean? Logan studied the satellite footage of this place from over a month back!”
Quinn simply shakes his head. “You’ve got to come and see for yourself. Then he steps back out of the tent and shifts into his wolf, racing away before I even have a chance to shake off my boots.

“D***n it!” I growl, as I rip off my shirt. Once I’m completely undressed, I gaze down at Roman and say, “You’ll behave for daddy while he’s
gone, won’t you?”
Then I leap out of the tent and shift in midair, my paws thundering after my brother and into the trees.
TIMMONS
Watching Doc Rhodes **k Kendall up to the equipment he keeps in his home office, I begin to grow impatient. “Is all that necessary, Doc? Shouldn’t you be waking her up first? I mean, what if she has a concussion or something? Shouldn’t she be kept alert or…”
Doc Rhodes smiles, eyeing me skeptically. “There’s no swelling anywhere along her skull. No signs that she hit her head during the fall.

Looks like her body took the bakent of the impact, so that’s what III be lecking after I get her h***ed up to this monitor. He sighs, turning hack to Kendall who is laying across his living room couch.
oh as thit the entire ride up here. Not even when I pulligt her out of the car and carried her up to the front door. Her was strong enough, but the fact that she was still unconscious, had worry eating at my gut.
I set Net this time
#tvetemed to arrest her…
Doc Rhodes powed on the monitor and a steady beeping filled the root. Taking a seat hest to her small body on the sofa, he pulled out a stethoscope and reached under her shirt. Before I even realized what was doing. I had his wrist in a punishing grip, threatening to snap a bone if I only squeemed a bit tighter. A growl formed on my lips only to be met with the Doe’s insurmountably patient gaze
TB be needing my hand back, deputy,” he says with a soft smile.
“Right,” I replied, releasing him and shaking off the temporary insanity that had just come over me. “My bad, Doc.”
Clearing my throat, I stood back and focused on the sweet set of Kendall’s lips. Lips that were always ready with a smile for me, despite that I’d only ever been an a**hole to hex’T’ve been pushing her away from day one. Unless you counted our initial meeting.
That day was different at least
The first time I saw her was a couple of years ago. Her very first day as a waitress at the diner. I had a date with some girl I can’t even remember the name of and after a particularly boring movie, we stopped into the diner for an early dinner. It being her first night there, we were her very first table. I can remember pretending to listen to my date as she droned on and on about how many dudes had tried to hit on her at the movie theater, all of them when I wasn’t looking. The girl was fishing for a give a f***k, but I wasn’t handing any out that
* night. Not to her. Especially because I had already decided to d**k her and dump her right after our meal. When a scent like fresh baked peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream wafted my way, I honestly thought the diner had added the shit to their dessert menu, and I was
three seconds from adding it to my order, but that’s not what it was.
It was her.
Kendall.
She came barrelling around the corner toward our table with water glasses on a tray and the moment her hazel eyes found mine she
tripped over a lump in the rug, sending two full glasses of ice water showering over my date. She was mortified and tried to apologize, but Mandy-Candy-Sandy – whatever her name was – wasn’t having it. I leapt out of my seat to help Kendall clean up the mess, ignoring my date so thoroughly that the b**h actually complained. She accused Kendall of hitting on me and maliciously throwing water on her. Kendall would have been fired her first night on the job, except that I stood up for her, explaining everything right down to the unsavory lump in their rug. I’ll never forget the way she looked at me afterward. Like I was some kind of knight in shining armor. Deciding to take of what s-her-name home early, I introduced myself to Kendall. And when she reached out to shake my hand, I felt it. Something different and perfect. A draw to her so powerful, I almost kissed her right then and there.
That’s when i knew who she was. That’s when I realized. And despite that everything in me was fighting to get to know her, to lie to my brothers and just pretend she was just some average girl.just so that I could have her. Just so that I could keep her for myself, I didn’t. Instead…I started having my coffee there whenever she was working just to watch her. To keep tabs on her.
She always tried to grab my attention one way or another and I always ignored her attempts. Treated them like annoyances. So when she stopped smiling at me and started smiling at others, that’s all that I saw. The others. And the more jealous I became, the meaner I got.
it hasn’t ended.
The jealousy.
And now…she’s pregnant with someone else’s kid and anything we might have had together is well and truly over
