We are nearly on top of the creature in the trees when it suddenly drops from the sky and lands at our feet shaking the ground with a force that should have told me it was dead weight. Koda nods and the two of us lift him, scanning the trees around us the entire time. When we reach the front porch we realize the electricity has gone out.
